Jennifer Capriati Charged With Battery, Stalking

Jennifer Capriati, the former teen tennis prodigy and top-ranked player in the world, has been charged with stalking and battery against an ex. The charges stem from an incident on Valentine’s Day. According to North Palm Beach, Fla., police, Jennifer Capriati approached her ex-boyfriend, Ivan Brannan, at a gym and began screaming at him. When he tried to leave by going to the locker room, Capriati punched Brannan in the chest after blocking his exit; someone at the gym called the cops. The summons indicates that she “actually and intentionally touch[ed] and [struck]” Brannan and “willfully, maliciously and repeatedly follow[ed], harass[ed]” him. According to county records, Capriati, who’s had a host of (mostly minor) legal run-ins over the years, has been summoned to appear before a judge April 17. However, the retired athlete has not been arrested for the incident. Capriati, 36, turned pro in 1990 (seriously), then staged a remarkable comeback to become world #1 and won three Grand Slam titles from 2001-02. She was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame last year.

Jennifer Capriati Accused of Stalking, Punching Ex-Boyfriend

Former Grand Slam tennis champion Jennifer Capriati is fighting back against accusations that she got into a fight with her ex-boyfriend Ivan Brannan. Capriati and Brannan allegedly got into an altercation at the Oxygen Health & Fitness Gym in North Palm Beach, Fla., one that may have turned violent. Brannan states that the world’s former top-ranked player stalked and punched him in the chest with her fist before a yoga instructor called the cops. According to initial reports, Capriati fled the scene before the police arrived, but there is a warrant out for her arrest . Her camp denies this is true. A lawyer for Capriati said in a statement: “There is no arrest warrant for Jennifer Capriati. The case between Ms. Capriati and Mr. Ivan Brannan has not yet been assigned in Palm Beach County and has not been reviewed.” “The current facts being circulated by Mr. Brannan are an over exaggeration and the police report is one-sided in Mr. Brannan’s favor since they failed to get Ms. Capriati’s side of the story.” Jennifer Capriati , 36, was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame last July, but has run into occasional personal problems over the years. Four months after receiving that honor, Brannan sought a restraining order against her, claiming she called his office more than 100 times in a single day.

Friend Describes "Tremendous Pain," Struggle of Jennifer Capriati

We’re happy to hear that Jennifer Capriati is recovering from her prescription pill overdose on Sunday, but the former tennis great has a long road to recovery says a friend. Former professional tour player Justin Gimelstob told The Early Show on CBS this morning that his pal “has a huge void that she needs to fill” in life, now that sports are no longer an option. “She’s in tremendous pain physically and mentally. She struggled with depression, and it’s a tough story,” Gimelstob said. Exactly, Sports Illustrated: Jennifer Capriati was only 13 when she debuted on the women’s tour. That’s the problem she now faces. Capriati may own three Grand Slam titles and a Gold Medal, but the 34-year old never enjoyed a regular childhood and the “social interaction” to help her later in life, added Gimelstob: “She said tennis gives her structure. Without that, that’s when the problems ensue, and she’s had trouble finding an identity and a sense of purpose.” A somewhat apt comparison could likely be made here between Capriati and Lindsay Lohan , couldn’t it? The latter fell off the rails as her movie career fell apart. In closing, Gimelstob said Capriati’s mother is remaining as positive as she can: “[Jennifer’s mom] is a very religious woman. She said God is good [and] God is taking care of [Jen].”

Dale DaBone Blames Jennifer Capriati Overdose on Porn Return, Tennis Demise

Following what her family has described as an accidental overdose of prescription pills, former tennis star Jennifer Capriati is recovering in a Florida hospital. That’s very good news. Meanwhile, Capriati’s ex-boyfriend has spoken out on what he believes are the two reasons her life has taken a turn for the worse these days: the fact that Jennifer misses tennis; and that he has returned to the adult film business. Indeed, Dale DaBone dated Capriati from 2003-2009. He told TMZ she often gets depressed during a Grand Slam tournament because she misses playing and blames injuries for her abbreviated career. (The opening week of Wimbledon wrapped up over the weekend.) DaBone also says Capriati called him Sunday night, presumably after her overdose, and was “hysterical” over his decision to star in Batman XXX: A Porn Parody . The flick would mark DaBone’s return to the world of adult entertainment, as he’s had intercourse with women in over 440 movies. There must be some joke about tennis and balls in there, but due to Capriati’s situation, it doesn’t feel appropriate to make.

Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas: The Outdated Photo Shoot

The July 2010 issue of Teen Vogue is a collector’s item. How come? Because it features a lengthy photo shoot and interview with Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas… even though these two broke up last month ! Fortunately, the singers remain good friends and got together for a second round of questions after their relationship fizzled. But it still makes for an interesting read when Lovato is asked how they originally got together and she replies: “One night I asked him, ‘What is the deal? We’re perfect for each other. What are you doing?’ And he was like, ‘This is really awkward. I have to go.'” Joe said he had to think it over, but returned to ask Demi out. Which would be a cuter story if the pair were still an item. To the stars’ credit, they are mature and open about their split. Says Joe: “When I met Demi, I knew right away that our friendship was really strong. I don’t want to lose that ever.” It doesn’t sound like he will, although Lovato admits “I kind of learned throughout this whole experience that having my private life public isn’t as awesome as it might seem.” Well, we’ll leave you two alone, with the exception of the following montage of photos from your magazine shoot. They’re too adorable to ignore:

According to TMZ, Capriati – who made her professional debut at the age of 13 and won three Grand Slam titles – was taken away by paramedics who responed to a call from a hotel in Riviera Beach. What am I? I was just alive because of this. I’ve had to ask, ‘Well, who is Jennifer? What if this is gone now?’ I can’t live off of this the rest of my life.'” We hope she finds the answers and makes a full recovery.
