‘Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World’ Exclusive Clip — Watch It Now!

Michael Cera faces off against Chris Evans in the scene, which premiered during the MTV Movie Awards pre-show. By Todd Gilchrist Michael Cera in “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” Photo: Universal Studios Squaring off against seven evil exes is no small task, even if it’s in the service of securing your place next to the girl of your dreams. But there’s a reason Michael Cera’s new film is called “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” — namely, that the sum total of his opposition adds up to more or less the equivalent of an armada of adversaries and, more than likely, a world of hurt. And one of the fiercest foes Cera’s Scott Pilgrim scuffles with is Lucas Lee, whose punches are packed with the panache of actor Chris Evans, who will soon be seen donning Captain America’s red, white and blue cowl. Audiences around the world just saw the premiere of an exclusive clip from Scott Pilgrim during the MTV Movie Awards pre-show, but check it out again right here. Following an introduction by director Edgar Wright, who brings the breakneck cinematography and brilliant sense of humor from “Shaun of the Dead” and “Hot Fuzz” to the comic book adaptation, the clip begins with poor Scott being introduced — via a detour to the asphalt — to his beloved Ramona Flowers’ (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) ex-boyfriend Lucas (Evans). Lucas decks him with one blow, pausing momentarily afterward for a studio flunky to polish his clenched fist, but Scott is surprisingly resilient; getting back to his feet, he makes a beeline to let Lucas know he’s not yet finished with him. Instead of standing up to Lucas, however, Scott finds himself face to face with one of Lucas’ stunt doubles, one of the guys he lets act in wide shots “when [he] feels like betting blazed in his Winnie,” as Lucas puts it. The double summarily also lays Scott out, and as the love-struck pugilist stands up again, Lucas reveals that he doesn’t just have one stuntman, but several. A spectacular battle erupts as skateboards and swinging punches fly through the air, with Scott more than holding his own until he gets a particularly powerful shot to the face. Of course, you’ll have to see if Scott survives when the movie arrives in theaters August 13. Dominic Cooper to Grow Into John Slattery for Captain America

Whether he’s hitting up Carrie Bradshaw for water sports or hitting on secretaries in the world of Man Men , it kind of seems like John Slattery has always been a silver fox — so much so that when it came time for Captain America to cast a young version of Howard Stark, I might have expected Slattery to simply reprise his Iron Man 2 cameo as the character and go rocking the white hair even into Howard’s twenties. Alas!

Gwyneth Paltrow Has Some Suggestions For ‘Iron Man 3’

‘They have to mix it up a little,’ actress tells MTV News, proposing action scenes for Pepper Potts. By Eric Ditzian Gwyneth Paltrow Photo: MTV News Gwyneth Paltrow spends most of “Iron Man 2” scowling at Robert Downey Jr. over his various boyish foibles and narcissistic eccentricities. There goes Tony Stark again, hopping in a Formula One race car, just because he can. See Stark getting drunk, donning his Iron Man suit and trashing his own bachelor pad — and why the heck not? As Pepper Potts, it’s Paltrow’s job to pick up the pieces , ensuring that Tony lives to fight crime another day. That’s been fun and all, but if and when a third “Iron Man” ramps up, Paltrow would like Potts to have a chance to kick a little ass. “Maybe for the third one, if they do a third one, they have to mix it up a little,” she told MTV News. “I don’t want to just keep sitting there with a [cell phone] headpiece.” Action scenes or not, though, Paltrow says she’d be keen to join up once again. “I hope so,” she said. “That would be great.” Paltrow probably can count on it. As Downey told us , “Iron Man 3” is “going to go down.” What’s more, the man behind the armor knows exactly where the story line should go. “I have some pretty strong ideas, but they never seem to be too discordant with what the creative execs at Marvel are thinking anyway,” the actor said. But before a third “Iron Man” gets under way, Marvel will push forward with “The Avengers,” the ensemble superhero flick likely set to feature Iron Man, Captain America and Thor. Might we see Pepper Potts pop up alongside Stark in that movie, which will hit theaters in 2012? The actress wasn’t so sure. “I don’t know what she would do, like, dry-clean his sh–?” Paltrow laughed. Should Pepper Potts get to kick some ass in an “Iron Man” flick? Tell us in the comments! ‘The Avengers’ Cheat Sheet: Everything You Need To Know

Can’t wait until May 2012? Here’s all we know about the superhero supergroup. By Eric Ditzian Robert Downey Jr. and Don Cheadle in “Iron Man 2” Photo: Paramount Pictures With the mega-opening of “Iron Man 2” behind us and the release of “Thor” and “The First Avenger: Captain America” coming down the line in 2011, it’s time to turn our attention to “The Avengers,” Marvel’s planned big-screen adaptation of their team of iconic superheroes. Debuting in the early ’60s, the comic book’s members have at one time or another included Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, the Hulk and others. “Avengers” isn’t set for a theatrical release until May 4, 2012. But details about the project are quickly coming together. Here is MTV News’ cheat sheet on the movie: everything you need to know about “The Avengers.” “Iron Man” and “The Incredible Hulk” Get Things Started At the end of 2008’s “Iron Man,” Samuel L. Jackson pops up as Nick Fury , the eye-patched head of the superhero-focused spy agency S.H.I.E.L.D. who’s putting together the Avengers. Not only was it an awesome and unexpected cameo, but it served as notice to fans that Marvel was dead set on weaving together the cinematic universes of their classic superheroes. Little more than a month later, Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark — a.k.a. Iron Man — appeared briefly in “The Incredible Hulk,” talking about getting a team together. Again, it was a satisfying cameo and further proof that “Avengers” was most definitely Marvel’s long-term — and long-planned — goal. Further along in ’08, “Iron Man 2,” “Thor,” “Captain America” and “Avengers” got release dates . While all except “IM2” would end up being pushed back (“Avengers” was originally slated for summer 2011), they were all at least officially on Marvel’s docket. By early ’09, the official release dates for all the films were in place . The Team Comes Together In fall 2008, the cast and crew began to fall into place . Downey and Don Cheadle (as War Machine) signed on to reprise their “Iron Man” roles in “Avengers,” and “Iron Man” director Jon Favreau shifted into an executive-producer role. Zak Penn (“X-Men: The Last Stand”) was recruited to pen the script and delivered a first draft in March. Meanwhile, Edward Norton, who played Hulk in the ’08 film, wouldn’t commit to reprising his role, even though Hulk is set to appear in the film . Scarlett Johansson, who played Black Widow in “Iron Man 2,” hinted at a juicy role for her character in “Avengers.” Chris Hemsworth was cast as Thor both for his own movie and for “Avengers,” while after a lengthy search, Chris Evans was signed as Captain America for his titular flick and “Avengers.” Last month, Joss Whedon nabbed the coveted director job and also got a chance to rewrite the script. The Remaining ‘Avenger’ Questions While the core team is in place, oodles of questions remain. Which other heroes and villains will pop up in “Avengers”? How about Loki (to be played by Tom Hiddleston in “Thor”) or Red Skull (to be played by Hugo Weaving in “Captain America”)? What other characters will enter the “Avengers” universe, like Ant-Man, Wasp, Black Panther and Vision? And then there’s the question of who will be the de facto leader of the Avengers. History points to Captain America, but nothing is set in stone. “I don’t know if they’re going to make him the boss,” Evans told MTV News in April. Joked Downey : “I’ll clown all of them. I’ll just clown those fools.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Avengers.” For breaking news and previews of the latest comic book movies — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com . ‘Iron Man 3’ Cheat Sheet: Everything You Need To Know

Now that you’ve seen ‘Iron Man 2,’ here’s everything we know about ‘Iron Man 3’ so far. By Larry Carroll Robert Downey Jr in “Iron Man 2” Photo: Warner Bros. Now that you’ve seen “Iron Man 2” over the weekend, there’s only one thing on your mind: When can I see “Iron Man 3”? Well, you’ll have to hold on just a little bit longer, but while you’re waiting, check out what we know about “Iron Man 3” so far, in our MTV News cheat sheet. Iron Man 3 Even before the smash success of the original “Iron Man,” Marvel Studios was addressing the possibility of multiple sequels . Sure enough, after the movie opened to over $100 million , Jon Favreau was trying to decide between “Avengers” and “Iron Man 2” — by now, you might be able to guess which he chose. On the verge of “Iron Man 2” opening, Favs told us that he was ready to have Tony Stark suit up again after the “Thor,” “Captain America” and “Avengers” movies came out. He also revealed that he wanted the Mandarin to be the villain . The Ideas The franchise stars are already pondering the possibilities of where Tony Stark could go after taking on Whiplash and other assorted foes in “Iron Man 2.” Gwyneth Paltrow wanted her Pepper Potts to see some action ; Robert Downey Jr. had some strong ideas about where he wanted to take Tony ; and even the creator of War Machine weighed in, saying he hoped the filmmakers would finally uncork the beloved “Demon in a Bottle” story line from the Marvel comics. The Villain Favreau spoke extensively about how he hoped “Thor” and the other films would make magic more plausible in the Marvel universe so he could incorporate the Mandarin into “Iron Man 3.” Even Faran Tahir, the actor who captured Tony Stark in the original film, laid the groundwork for his return in the role . 3-D in 2013? Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has expressed his love for 3-D technology , as has Favreau . So will “Iron Man 3” go down that road ? We’ll have to wait and see. Iron Man, Big Plans Marvel is rewriting the history books with all these great movies they’re making, and the momentum should carry over for years to come. First, there was the big deal with Paramount , and then the signing of Sam Jackson to appear in as many as nine Marvel movies as Nick Fury. What’s next? Some people raised their eyebrows when Marvel hired Joss Whedon to write and direct its superhero mashup The Avengers , but Marvel head Kevin Feige obviously has a lot of confidence in the Buffy creator. Do you do everything you can to make sure that movie is the The Dark Knight to the original’s Batman Begins , or do you concentrate your efforts on connecting it to other properties that no one but Comic Book Guy even knows exist, like Thor ? Hayley Atwell to Romance Captain America

Though Captain America producers looked only at homegrown talent for the title role, the part of the Captain’s love interest Peggy Carter has gone to British actress Hayley Atwell. The 28-year-old actress is best known for playing the homoeroticism spoiler in the recent remake of Brideshead Revisited , a talent that will no doubt come in handy once studio execs realize that Captain America pretty-boys Chris Evans and Sebastian Stan have been sharing far too many two-shots together.
