Glee will pay tribute to Whitney Houston on Tuesday night, airing an episode titled “Dance with Somebody” that features a number of hits by the late artist. The series will use them help paint the picture of seniors at fictional William McKinley High School graduating and saying goodbye to each other. Whether you think this is merely an admirable showing of respect for the legend, or a pathetic exploitation of her tragic death , one thing cannot be debated: the first cover released by Fox from the episode is incredibly impressive. It features Mercedes (Amber Riley), Rachel (Lea Michele), Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Santana (Naya Rivera) breaking down “How Will I Know” A capella style, and it’s destined to be included in the Glee pantheon of covers. A month later, however, T.I. announced that she had also signed to Grand Hustle Records , causing a bit of confusion. Although it was an usual situation, Azalea says her deal was restructured to create an ideal contract. “I didn’t know I was gonna sign to Grand Hustle,” Azalea told MTV News, explaining how she managed to stick with both imprints. “There’s no way I thought that would happen. Not because I didn’t like them, just because my deal was all sewn up, and I restructured the whole thing.” The 21-year-old Australian rapper revealed that Interscope chairman Jimmy Iovine was “cool with it,” helping her tailor a new deal that pleased all parties involved. “[Jimmy] likes Tip, and they’re good friends, so it worked out,” she explained. “But it made everybody so confused, because everyone was like, ‘I thought she was signed to Interscope; Grand Hustle is with Atlantic.’ ” Iggy said she pushed for the deal to be amended because she had such natural chemistry with the Atlanta rapper and his team. “I love everyone at Grand Hustle — not just [T.I.],” she shared. “Initially, I wanted to work with him … because of him, but once I got to Atlanta and I met all of them, I was like, ‘Man, I feel so comfortable with all these people and I really want them to all be involved and not just for one album but for the long run.’ “You always hear stories of labels trying to break things up and things changing, and I just wanted to make sure I had a structured business deal where that was not able to happen,” she concluded. “So that’s why I asked for it to be restructured and for Grand Hustle to be involved and be a permanent fixture in my career.” Iggy Azalea’s debut album, The New Classic, is tentatively scheduled to drop this summer. When I joined his show in 2006, it was a dream come true to work with him every New Year’s Eve for the last 6 years. He was smart, charming, funny and always a true gentleman. I learned a great deal from him, and I’ll always be indebted to him for his faith and support of me. Thank u sir.” Big Boi simply tweeted a photo of him and Outkast partner Andre 3000 standing alongside Clark, with the message “R.I.P Dick Clark.” Like Big Boi, “Weird Al” Yankovic also posted a photo of himself with the TV host, writing, “Such sad news. RIP Dick Clark.” Certainly his influence on merging music and television can be seen on TV today, especially on shows like “Glee.” “A sad day as we have lost Dick Clark, an American Icon. You will be missed,” one of the show’s stars, Matthew Morrison, tweeted . His loss is also felt by the pop world, with ’80s boy banders New Kids on the Block tweeting , “#RIPDickClark. Dep, born Trevell Coleman, was convicted of second-degree murder in New York on Tuesday (April 17) following a trial that began after Coleman admitted to killing a man in 1993 during a botched robbery attempt. In late 2010, Coleman came forward to confess that he’d shot a man , identified by police as John Henkel, nearly two decades earlier in Harlem. According to Coleman’s story, he attempted to rob a man on a Harlem corner, then shot him and rode off on a bicycle, not knowing whether the victim had survived. Opening statements in the trial were made last week, on April 10, and one day later, Coleman dropped a bombshell on prosecutors by changing up his story . He claimed that while he did shoot someone, it was not Henkel. Despite the change in story, the prosecution stood firm, contending that Henkel was the only victim who fit the details of Coleman’s confession. “Eighteen years ago, the defendant made a calculated decision to steal from, shoot and kill an innocent person on the street,” Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr. said in a statement. Trevell Coleman is expected to face a minimum sentence of 15 years to life in prison on May 8. After the jury delivered a guilty verdict for the 37-year-old, defense lawyer Anthony Ricco praised his client’s efforts to be honest. “He has a conscience and a heart, and his conscience and his heart brought him to where he is today,” Ricco told reporters after the trial. “He’s probably making the most powerful statement a rapper of his era can make, which is to be accountable and to do the right thing.” Coleman saw a brief rise to fame beginning in 1998 with an appearance on “The Mall” from Gang Starr’s Moment of Truth album. Later that year he signed to Diddy’s Bad Boy Records, and in 2001 he dropped his debut album, Child of the Ghetto, which spawned the hit single “Special Delivery.” Still, the album failed to be a commercial success, and although he followed up with the 2004 mixtape The Deputy: The Sheriff Is Back in Town Volume 1, a slew of arrests, ranging from drug charges to grand larceny, put an end to his career for good.
