She’s also surrounded by scantily-clad cage dancers, while dressed like a peacock and sitting in a giant nest. Seriously. Said Miley about the racy video: “I wanted it to be something different for a female artist… It’s about explaining the song and living the lyrics.” That’s fine, except the lyrics include: Every guy everywhere just gives me mad attention/Like I’m under inspection/ I always get the 10s/‘Cause I’m built like that. While THG has often been critical of Miley for sending a bad message to her young fan base, we’re actually fine with this transformation. We simply take issue with artists that act provocatively one moment, and then play naive the next moment. Don’t be a hypocrite. In this case, Cyrus is clearly make a decision to reach a different audience. More power to her. Lil Jon Says He Got Fit, Spent Time In The Clubs During Hiatus

By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Sway Calloway Lil Jon in an MTV News interview on 5.3.10 Photo: MTV News Lil Jon’s long-delayed album Crunk Rock was in the works for so many years that the project evolved from a rock-leaning effort to a “lifestyle” collection featuring electro sounds, R&B and Bali funk. It’s been six years since the producer released his last album, Crunk Juice. put out in 2004 on TVT Records. Jon feuded with the label for a time but finally reached a resolution in 2008, when the company filed for bankruptcy. So what’s Lil Jon been up to all this time? “I actually am glad [the album’s] just now coming out, ’cause I got a chance to really let my batteries recharge,” Jon told MTV News. ” ‘Cause I was doing a lot of stuff, making a lot of records, doing a lot of albums and getting pulled in different directions. And you get burned out and need time to recharge and rejuvenate and come back. “So it gave me time to go out and also get in the club and just DJ again. To feel the pulse of music and people all over the world, ’cause I went all the way to Australia and to Japan and all over America, from Vegas to New York to Miami; I’m DJing every week, basically. All of that helped me to have an eye and be a little bit ahead of everyone else. ‘Cause the pulse of music is in the club. If you don’t go to the club, you can’t know where to go next or what’s gong on. I think everything helped give me time to open my eyes again.” To help kick-start his career while also maintaining his momentum on the DJ circuit, Lil Jon decided to incorporate a new emphasis on physical fitness into his routine. The rowdy personality recently hired a trainer and lost 25 pounds as a result. He’s even pushing a new sugar-free version of his Crunk Energy Drink — just don’t expect him to give up adult beverages anytime soon. “We getting older, man, so I started thinking and realizing you got to get in shape and get healthy,” he explained. ” ‘Cause we want to live longer lives. People are living longer lives, but only if you’re eating healthy and living healthy. Chely Wright Opens Up About Suicidal Thoughts, John Rich Bigotry

Earlier this week, Chely Wright came out as gay . But that’s not the most dramatic news this country music singer has to share with the world. In an interview with Access Hollywood , Wright divulged that she was very close to suicide. The low point of her struggle with homosexuality, Chely said, took place during a discussion with fellow artist John Rich. She relayed it to the entertainment news show as follows: “He said, “You’re not gay are you?!” I said, “No, John, I’m not.” He said, “Good, thank God.” And that began a spiral for me. I had a meltdown shortly after that.” This self-described meltdown culminated with a loaded gun in Wright’s hand. “I was looking at myself in a mirror… as I was about to do it. I just looked at myself and something snapped and I started to cry… and I realized I have too much to live for. I may lose my career in country music, that will break my heart, but it’s okay. I have a lot of different pieces of my heart that matter and that’s what I’ve come to learn.” As we’ve said before, Wright’s admissions would seem less opportunistic if they came during a week that did not involve the releae of an autobiography and a new album. But why be cynical? Here’s to hoping this singer has found inner peace and is moving in a positive direction with her life.

Bret Michaels Is ‘Definitely Doing Better,’ Sister Says

Todaro/Getty Images Bret Michaels remains in the intensive care unit nearly two weeks after suffering a brain hemorrhage , but his sister said on Monday that he is making slow, steady progress. Speaking again to the “Todd n Tyler Radio Empire” radio show, Michelle Sychak said she spoke to her brother on Saturday and that Michaels was “definitely doing better — he was kind of getting up and starting to walk a bit … because they don’t want the blood to clot.” The other good news was that the Poison singer no longer has slurred speech, according to his sister, but that progress has come along with some other issues. “What’s happened is all that blood in his brain is starting to drain, and he’s starting to have a lot of back pain,” she said, noting that her brother is getting antsy about being in the hospital and is eager to leave. “I can hear it in his voice. I know he’s in a lot of pain. … I said, ‘Bret, considering what you’ve been through … things could be so much worse.’ ” Sychak said Michaels’ slurred speech might have partly been caused by the morphine doctors were giving him for pain. Despite optimistic reports from the Michaels camp that he could be up and back out on the road by the end of the month — which she said was a misunderstanding about the soonest he could possibly be back onstage — Sychak said she’s hopeful, but realistic about the challenges the 47-year-old rocker faces. “Obviously, if he’s up and moving, that’s great, but honestly it’s not going to surprise me if he’s still in the ICU on Friday,” she said. “I think (the doctors are) having a problem really getting the bleeding. … Even though they’ve sort of caught it, I think there are some issues with them really stopping and figuring out the source. That’s why [there’s] back pain.” The news came on the same day that doctors at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona, were preparing for their first press conference on Michaels’ condition on Tuesday (May 4). Neurologists and neurosurgeons from the institute are scheduled to discuss the case at 12 p.m. PT, providing an update on Michaels’ condition, treatment and prognosis. Usher, Drake And Nicki Minaj To Play New York’s Summer Jam

By Shaheem Reid Usher Photo: Mike Coppola/FilmMagic New York radio station Hot 97 announced the lineup for the annual mega show Summer Jam on Monday afternoon (May 3). The event takes place June 6 at the new Meadowlands Stadium, with Usher headlining a lineup that includes Drake, Nicki Minaj, DJ Khaled and Ludacris. Trey Songz, Juelz Santana, Fabolous and Reflection Eternal fill out the roster, with Gucci Mane — who is due to be released from jail soon — rounding out the bill. New York’s Summer Jam Lineup For headliner Usher, the top spot at the show is another feather in his cap for what is proving to be a stellar year, which has already included a #1 album . “This album means so much to my career,” Usher recently said told MTV News about Raymond v. Raymond. “I think this is the one time where I’m able to put it all in, emotionally and the good times — super-freaky and then also super-emotional. Raymond v. Raymond, artistically, is one of my greatest pieces of work, not only just because of the content, but also the people whom I got involved in it: T.I., Will.I.Am, Puff, Nicki Minaj.” The album also features “She Don’t Know,” a track with Ludacris, who collaborated on one of Usher’s biggest hits, 2004’s “Yeah!” And the video for the Will I. Am. collaboration “OMG” recently hit the Internet. The clip is all performance as Usher brings his dance moves to the forefront. “A lot of people may have felt like I lost my swagger,” Usher said. “Let me tell you something: I play long-balls, so now we back. This one is it: Raymond v. Raymond !” As always, you can expect some of the performers to bring out surprise guests — it’s a Summer Jam tradition. Some of the biggest names in the game have come out unadvertised for the concert. Just last year, Jay-Z set off his Blueprint 3 campaign by performing “D.O.A. Bret Michaels’ Doctor: ‘Bret’s Will To Live Is Undeniable’

Doctor says Michaels’ condition remains serious, tests will continue. By MTV News staff Bret Michaels Photo: Trish Tokar/ Getty Images According to a statement posted late Friday on Bret Michaels’ official website , the singer is receiving treatment for the brain hemmorhage he suffered last week at the Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona — one of the world’s top neurological centers and is the home of the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center. The statement said Michaels’ location was not previously revealed “due to the severity of his life threatening condition, the instantaneous way in which the hemorrhage presented itself and respect for his family.” Dr. Joseph Zabramski, the neurosurgeon who is leading Michaels’ treatment team, said in the statement, “There is no doubt that Mr. Michaels’ condition is serious. We are treating the subarachnoid hemorrhage, which caused his severe cranial pain. Mr. Michaels will continue to undergo testing considering we have hit a few roadblocks including hyponatremia, severe cranial and back pain suffered from blood drainage, an emergency appendectomy performed a week earlier and a lifelong history of Type 1 Diabetes. “However, Bret’s sheer will to live and fully recover is undeniable,” Zabramski continued. “He has an unbelievable fight in him and told me what kept him alive at the moment of the hemorrhage was that he ‘did not want his family to wake up and see him lying unconscious in the middle of the floor.’ It was a combination of Bret’s fight to stay conscious during the hemorrhage and get to the emergency room, and the immediate medical attention provided by our staff at Barrow that enabled us to stabilize his condition.” A press conference will be held at 12 p.m. local time Tuesday at Barrow to discuss Michaels’ treatment in prognosis in detail. Michaels’ sister Michelle told a Nebraska radio station on Wednesday that she’d spoken with her brother recently. “Things are definitely looking up,” she said. “He sounded good — as good as you can when your brain’s throbbing. He seems very coherent to me and like he knew what he was saying. … [He] does sound like Bret. Hills star Audrina Patridge reportedly felt pressure to have plastic surgery so she could have the ‘perfect’ body. The 25-year-old has denied reports she has had her breasts enlarged, but pals say she went under the knife after feeling a lack of confidence. One friend told Us Weekly that the actress “feels she has to be perfect to continue her career in TV and film.” However a pal claims she won’t follow in co-star Heidi Montag’s footsteps and have more surgery. The friend said “She’s confident in her looks. I don’t think she’ll get more surgery.”

Bret Michaels’ Sister Says ‘Things Are Definitely Looking Up’

By Gil Kaufman Bret Michaels Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images Recovery from the kind of brain injury suffered by Poison singer Bret Michaels requires patience and very careful monitoring. And according to his sister, the rocker is making slow but steady progress. “He’s doing good,” said sibling Michelle Sychak in an interview with the Omaha, Nebraska-based “Todd N Tyler Radio Empire” morning-radio show on Wednesday. Michelle said her brother’s speech was good, considering the seriousness of the brain hemorrhage he suffered last Thursday. “Things are definitely looking up. … He sounded good — as good as you can when your brain’s throbbing,” she said. “He seems very coherent to me and like he knew what he was saying. … [He] does sound like Bret. Truth be told, I think he’ll outlive us all.” She spoke to him recently and said, though he’s stable, her brother is still in the intensive care unit. Earlier reports indicated that Michaels was suffering from slow or slurred speech as a result of the buildup of blood at the base of his brain. He continues to be hospitalized at an unnamed clinic in the intensive care unit. “He’s doing good,” she said. “He’s not by any means out of the woods, but he is getting better every day.” She said the fact that Michaels lived through the initial rupture was “a miracle in itself. I’ve never known anyone that dodged so many bullets in their life, both figuratively and literally.” Despite speculation that a staging mishap that resulted in Michaels being hit by a curtain at the 2009 Tony Awards might have caused the injury, she said doctors may never know what caused the rupture. The news came a day after Michaels’ road manager, Janna Elias, posted a note on the rocker’s website indicating that, “Provided there are no further complications or setbacks,” Michaels, 47, could be back out on the road in time for a May 26 date in Fort Smith, Arkansas. “I think good news is around the corner,” she said. “Even though yesterday was a minor setback, doctors remain hopeful for a full recovery and plan to release more specific information next Monday,” Elias wrote, referring to a not uncommon side effect of the brain hemorrhage called hyponatremia , a lack of sodium in the body that can lead to seizures. Doctors told Michaels he “is very lucky, as his condition could have been fatal,” she wrote. “With further testing and rehabilitation, they are hopeful that Bret will gradually improve as the blood surrounding the brain dissolves and is reabsorbed into his system, which can be a very painful recovery and take several weeks to months,” she said.
