What the hell?? Thousands Of Dead Fish Wash Ashore On South Carolina Beach South Carolina residents might be steering clear of one local beach in particular for a while. Roughly 40,000 chubby lumpkins sea critters washed ashore on Pawley’s Island beach in a Georgetown County, S.C. town earlier this week. via Huffington Post Tens of thousands of dead fish washed ashore on a South Carolina beach on Tuesday, for at least the second time in a week. Approximately 30,000 to 40,000 menhaden fish washed ashore along a mile-and-a-half-long stretch of beach from Georgetown County, S.C., to Pawleys Island, said Pawleys Island Police Chief Michael Fanning, according to NBC News. It seemed likely that thousands more of the 6-to 8-inch-long fish would wash ashore later. This is the second time in one week such an incident has occurred in the area, notes NBC News. Late last week, hundreds of thousands of the small, oily fish washed up near Masonboro Island, N.C. A local sergent offered this explanation for the bizzare beach full of fish: “It’s an occurrence called hypoxia,” Sergeant Steve Pop told WMBF. That is dissolved oxygen levels in the water that drop to a level that is not sustainable for the fish… We’ve got some deep holes off of north inlet that holds these fish. South Carolina native Stephen Colbert is the top choice of Palmetto State residents to fill the U.S. Senate seat recently vacated by Jim DeMint, a new poll indicates. DeMint is stepping down to head a conservative think tank. South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley will appoint a successor to complete DeMint’s term, which ends in 2014. That November, an election will be held … but until then it’s Haley’s call alone. According to Public Policy Polling, The Colbert Report host would be the most popular appointee . Colbert has already expressed interest in the vacancy, too. The Comedy Central staple has been asking viewers to tweet at Gov. Haley, a Republican who he calls a “friend of the show,” and lobby her to appoint him. The federal government would certainly become a lot funnier overnight. Could this really happen? Probably not, though Haley’s approval ratings are way down with Democrats and independents, so a PR coup might not hurt. Just saying. Colbert is famous for trying to insert himself into the political process. He attempted to run in this year’s South Carolina primary and started his own Super PAC. North Carolina Prisoners Allegedly Abused With Hot Sauce An investigation is under way in North Carolina surrounding prisoner abuse allegations after several inmates claimed to have suffered sexual abuse involving wild snakes, bunnies……..and hot sauce….all at the hands of their prison guards. via Corrections One Prison officials in North Carolina are calling for a criminal investigation after inmates alleged correctional officers forced them to rub habanero hot sauce on their genitals, resulting in painful blisters. In July, six inmates from Sampson sent a hand-written letter to the U.S. District Court in Greensboro complaining that staff had forced them to perform numerous humiliating acts for the entertainment of guards, including stripping nude and pretending to have sex. The medium-security facility houses about 500 male inmates in Clinton, which is about 60 miles southeast of Raleigh. The inmates also reported being forced to gulp a super-hot “Exotic Hot Sauce” purchased off the Internet and slather it on their testicles, as well as being forced to grab and kiss wild snakes while working on a road crew and throwing captured bunnies in to oncoming traffic. Those who performed for the guards were rewarded with preferential work assignments, food, cigarettes and beer, the inmates alleged. Both tobacco and alcohol are banned in North Carolina’s prisons. Lindsay says she did call Tiffany a “gypsy” but says she did not know that word is considered a slur … guess she just thought it was a run-of-the-mill insult? Anyway, Mitchell then told her Liz & Dick sucked, and $h!t escalated. It’s unclear if they were indeed vying for Max George’s affections; The Wanted singer is said to have spurned the star and flirted with Mitchell, further angering Lohan. As for hitting Tiffany, which got Lindsay Lohan arrested for assault, she denies it 100 percent and says she’s being set up … stop us if you’ve heard that one. The actress was said to be rip-roaring drunk that night – and most nights, as she’s drinking up to two liters of vodka a day – so her credibility may be suspect. Jovan Belcher , a linebacker for the Kansas City Chiefs, was at the center of a horrific tragedy this morning. According to local authorities, Belcher, 25, shot and killed his on-again/off-again girlfriend ( Kasandra Perkins , who gave birth to the couple’s first child three months ago) in her home around 8 a.m. and then drove to the Arrowhead Stadium complex where the Chiefs play home games. In front of team personnel (including GM Scott Piloi and Coach Romeo Crennel) who tried to calm him down in the parking lot, Belcher then shot himself in the head. Police spokesman Darin Snapp says authorities received a 911 call from the mother of Belcher’s victim, alerting them to the incident at her daughter’s residence. Another call was then placed minutes later from the Kansas City facility. “We can confirm that there was an incident at Arrowhead earlier this morning,” the Chiefs said in a statement. “We are cooperating with authorities in their investigation.” It’s unclear at the moment if the team’s game tomorrow against the Carolina Panthers will be played as scheduled. We send our thoughts to the loved ones of all involved in this tragedy.

Perry’s ‘Part of Me’ documentary gives fans a candid look at the demise of her relationship with Russell Brand. In 2011, she earned six #1 singles off her Teenage Dream album, embarked on a worldwide tour and endured a very public breakup from Russell Brand . And now fans can share all these experiences and more as Perry is set to release her 3-D documentary, “Part of Me,” on July 5th. The movie chronicles her unparalleled year as she has career highs, but suffers personal lows. And it’s those very personal moments, especially with Brand, that many will find most surprising. For the past six months, Perry has been mum on the issue of her divorce, and now for the first time, she is opening up about the split. The film picks up just a few months after the two tied the knot , as Perry embarks on her biggest tour to date, the California Dreams Tour. Fans witness Perry put in hours of hard work preparing for the tour and traveling to hundreds of different cities. Yet, with the success that she was having onstage, it was offstage where things were falling apart. It seems her new marriage and a grueling tour schedule were not mixing well, but it was not from lack of trying: Perry was adamant that while on her nearly yearlong tour, she take time out to see her husband, but in the end, it just couldn’t save the marriage. At one point, while flying to one of her tour stops, Perry admits to the camera, “I’m trying to keep my marriage alive.” “Part of Me” gives fans a rare glimpse inside a celebrity marriage, with Brand featured throughout the film. Some moments are touching, like when the comedian comes to wish her well on the opening night of her tour, yet some are heartbreaking to watch. In one scene, Perry is crying uncontrollably, delaying the start time of the concert, but like a true professional, she chokes back the tears and puts on a brave face for her fans. Perry talks candidly about Brand in the film, revealing that it was her skyrocketing career that could have played into the downfall of her marriage. “I thought to myself, ‘When I find that person that’s going to be my life partner, I won’t ever have to choose [between the partner and my career]. They won’t be threatened or have weird motives.’ Then I started to realize, that’s not true,” she admits. Yet, when asked in the film whether she still misses Brand, Perry begins to cry and admits that she does, but says she did everything she could to make it work. “I have that same belief system with everything, from career to my life to my personal life, everything. And I will do everything it takes to not fail,” she shares. “And I did everything it took, but it still failed.” Perry recently told MTV News that even though the subject of her divorce is difficult to deal with, she felt she would be doing her fans a disservice if she didn’t include it in the film. “The truth will always prevail,” Perry said. “Everything has to be handled integrously and appropriately, and it’s not nice to air all your dirty laundry, because that stinks, so I had to be very delicate with the situation, but I couldn’t avoid the elephant in the room,” she explained. “If you were to have seen that movie and walked out and [my breakup] wasn’t at all mentioned, like it never happened, you’d be like, ‘Eh, this is weird.
