50 Cent Shoots Down Lloyd Banks Label Rumors

‘They’re like $80 million in the hole,’ Fif jokes to MTV News about Def Jam. By Rob Markman, with reporting by James Smith 50 Cent When 50 Cent signed G-Unit artists Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo over to EMI , the plan was to set up his longtime Queens, New York, cohorts as artists who could work independently, without his help. Fif told MTV News that Banks’ The Hunger for More 2, which was released last November, was the project that set the trend. “Banks’ project is the beginning of them flying solo, flying without my assistance so much,” 50 said on the Atlanta set of Tony Yayo’s upcoming “Haters” video. In the past, Fif lent his guidance as well as his voice to his artists’ albums. Back in 2004, the G-Unit General appeared alongside Banks on “On Fire,” the first single from the Punch Line King’s platinum debut. He did the same with Yayo’s first single, “So Seductive,” the following year. “Like on all their other albums and singles, I was featured on their projects to help bring attention to it and get ’em off into the right space,” he said. “This go-around is, like, for them to go away from me and do it on their own. They’re setting up shop on their own on this project.” It’s been reported that Banks’ and Yayo’s EMI deal is structured much like an indie. Even though EMI is a major distributor, G-Unit has taken the reins when it comes to positioning both rappers in the marketplace. Even though 50 has championed G-Unit’s independence, speculation has swirled about whether Banks would sign to Def Jam where former G-Unit president Sha Money XL now resides as the Senior VP of A&R . 50, without saying it directly, shot down the notion of a Def Jam deal, citing the label’s supposed-financial woes. Recently, the legendary rap label has gone through a bit of restructuring with former head honcho L.A. Reid leaving and Barry Weiss stepping in as chairman and CEO. Regardless, Fif doesn’t seem too optimistic for a future at the label. “Well, Def Jam, I’m not even sure what that system — that system is not in a good space right now. They’re like $80 million in the hole,” he said, before laughing, “Don’t tell them I told you.” Related Artists 50 Cent Lloyd Banks

Cali Swag District Recall Last Moments With M-Bone

‘We was just chilling,’ C-Smoove tells ‘RapFix Live’ of being in the studio with M-Bone the day he was killed. By Alvin Blanco, with reporting by Sway Calloway Cali Swag District on “RapFix Live” Photo: MTV News Cali Swag District just dropped their new album, The Kickback, on Tuesday, following the success of their massive hit “Teach Me How to Dougie.” But the accomplishment is bittersweet since it arrived nearly two months after the murder of Mante “M-Bone” Talbert . The remaining members of the group — Yung, C-Smoove and JayAre — hit MTV News’ “Rap Fix Live” on Wednesday (July 13) and, after refuting rumors that they were involved in M-Bone’s death, talked about the last time they each spoke to their late friend. “We was talking about shoes. I just bought the Cool Greys, the Jordans,” Yung said of his last conversation with M-Bone. “He was like, ‘Man, I can’t find those nowhere, let me buy them from you.’ And I just had bought ’em, and I was like, ‘Nah.’ And [then], I was like, ‘You know what? I don’t even want them.’ But then I was like, ‘No, but I do.’ And then he was like, ‘Fine, I’m just going to go buy them myself.’ So what he did was he went to the store and he bought them and he took a picture of them [and sent it to all of us]. I was like, ‘It’s all good, though. We all got them, so we a team, you feel me?’ I used to tell him that all the time, I used to be like, ‘Yo, we a team, B.’ ” JayAre was playing a video game with his fallen friend the last he saw him alive. “I think the last time we talked, we was playing [NBA 2K11] or something,” JayAre said. “I always got the Lakers, he played with the Heat. He was a Heat fan. I think he won that game that time.” C-Smoove said, “Last time I talked to Bone, he was like, ‘Hey, is Kickback jumping?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, man, we up here.’ He was like, ‘I’m on my way.’ Came to the studio; he came comfortable man — basketball shorts, little Heat jacket, some Nikes or something — he wasn’t even trying to impress nobody. He was just up there chilling in his little giddy-up. He just woke up, drove to the studio. We was just chilling. “And that’s right before he went to the store, man,” Smoove recalled. M-Bone was shot in his car on La Brea Avenue, not far from the Inglewood, California spot Airport Liquor and Groceries. “That was the last time I talked to him.” Smoove’s comment sparked a particularly fond memory for another member of the group. “I remember that whole day too,” Yung said. “I remember we all was at Smoove’s house for his birthday. [M-Bone] pulled up on the side. We all sitting in the cars and stuff, we got girls out there, ’cause we always got girls somewhere. It’s like 20 people, [and] like 19 of them was girls. So we out there, and Bone, he wasn’t there. And he just pulled up in his Camaro and he was like, ‘What’s going on here?!’ I was like, ‘Don’t worry about it; either you with us or you ain’t.’ And he was like, ‘I’m with you.’ So he parked and hopped in the car and then he was with us.” M-Bone’s murder remains unsolved. 3 Lies About Premarital Sex [Opinion]

Read the original:

Vice and sin are sexy. Character and virtue… not so much. Last week there was an article about sex on the first date: SURVEY: Sex On The First Date; Do You? It started me to thinking and reading all the comments. Have we just given in  to what society has been selling us for the last 40 years. Sorry to say the Sexual Revolution came in and left us with one big mess.  It has let those of us with virtue be scorned. Character  is being erased. But where’s the line between them? What exactly is a virtue? Can it be taught? Are good, and bad, behavior hard-wired in us? Do we naturally need to experiment with every whim that crosses our fancy in order to determine who we are? You see less and less character as  you watch grown women throw themselves away on National television.  It’s become my new crusade to blow the lid off these half truths.   I am no prude but we need to stop selling the lies. They are destroying our communities.  It begins by stopping these three lies  first. Lie #1- The Scriptures on sexual purity are outdated and archaic . “Those parts of the Bible aren’t relevant to today. Those things were when  the people during that time got married when they were teens; so they didn’t have to struggle with sexual temptation like we do now.” 1 Corinthians 6:9, 2 Corinthians 12:21, Galatians 5:19, Hebrews 13:4 and Deuteronomy 22:13-28, all which condemn sex before marriage,  If sex before marriage is okay because people supposedly can’t control themselves, then it must be okay to engage in pornography, too, right?. If scriptures in the Bible became untrue because people can’t control their desires, then we’d also have to cut out the commandments on stealing, lying, cheating and having affairs. Lie # 2- Sex produces intimacy that you need to build a relationship. Dr. Patricia Love, the author of The Truth About Love, writes that a feeling of intimacy is created by a “chemical cocktail” that is produced in the brain during sex and stays with each person for up to 24 hours after intercourse. On the flip side, having sex is no guarantee that the deep emotional intimacy that everyone longs for will develop. “Genital sex is an expression of intimacy, not the means to intimacy. True intimacy springs from verbal and emotional communion. True intimacy is built on a commitment to honesty, love and freedom. True intimacy is not primarily a sexual encounter. Intimacy, in fact, has almost nothing to do with our sex organs. A prostitute may expose her body, but her relationships are hardly intimate.” Lie # 3 – Sex can help you determine compatibility? Many people feel it is unreasonable to expect him to abstain from sex before marriage because no one would buy a car without test driving it; so he couldn’t imagine committing to marriage without taking a “sex test drive.” The  “test drive” mentality could lead you to unreal expectations and the lack of commitment. Many say that is untrue. However, the logic is faulty. Here’s why: If it was true that  a person wouldn’t struggle with comparison, why would you need to “test drive” anything? After all, if you didn’t ever have multiple partners, you would automatically think his wife the best. For example, the man who hasn’t ever seen or driven more than one car doesn’t know what other cars are like; therefore he would be satisfied with his automobile. Partners can also feel threatened if they think their mate could be comparing them with previous partners. The reality is that we live in a dangerous damaged world. Each day we are fed more and more lies that allow us to lower are standards. How far are you willing to lower yours to feel like everyone else? It is time we rethought all the things we have been sold as truth. Why must any more of us suffer from “is she better, or is she great disease”? But it can be hard to truly gauge the potential depth of a sexual connection when there’s uncertainty or pressure involved. Fact is, sex is the place where all the separate parts of us – our bodies and souls, our vulnerabilities and most secret desires, our ability to create physical and spiritual life – come together. And it’s within the freedom of a commitment that these things can best be acknowledged, explored, and given space to run wild. Otherwise we are just falling short of what we could have. Nate Dogg Remembered With ‘Positive Energy’ At L.A. DUB Show

Singer’s son helps DJ Quik celebrate Nate during car show and concert. By Rahman Dukes Nate Dogg Photo: Getty Images LOS ANGELES — The spirit and music of hip-hop hook messiah Nathaniel “Nate Dogg” Hale was alive and strong at the 2011 DUB car show and concert on Sunday at Los Angeles Convention Center. Thousands of fans flocked to the trendy downtown district to catch a glimpse of the city’s elite toys, brought out by automobile connoisseurs, as well as a number of high-profile rappers, including Lupe Fiasco, the Game, Lazy Bone and Waka Flocka Flame. The show took place the day after the funeral for Nate Dogg , who died two weeks ago following complications of two strokes. And though it wasn’t an official memorial to the Long Beach singer, his music was celebrated during friend DJ Quik’s set. The producer introduced Nate’s son Nigel for a performance of his dad’s smash record “Regulate.” “It’s just a lot of positive energy in there, man,” said Power 106 radio host Big Boy, who also spoke at Nate’s funeral. “Of course, yesterday it was Nate’s memorial service and that was Nate’s 15-year-old son right there. It’s paying homage man. We shared Nate Dogg with everyone around the world, so it’s definitely up to us to make sure that we honor him. He opened up a lot of doors, man; he gave the world a lot of music. He loved where he was from and we loved him. It’s like our honor and duty to make sure that we continue honor him.” Snoop Dogg’s longtime mentor, Archbishop Don Magic Juan, also reflected on Nate Dogg’s legacy. “One thing about it is, we gonna miss our hook man,” Bishop said. “But we know he up in glory, doing some hooks for the lord. He gonna be at a better place. So we’re thankful that we had the time to enjoy with Nate. That’s what we should remember, the time with Nate. Not the time that he’s gone. We gonna continue to uplift him. He gonna continue to live, not only in music but in our spirits. Snoop Dogg fainted at the funeral, right by his casket, but we can understand that ’cause that’s what they call a real homeboy.” While Nate’s passing was a consistent theme highlighted by patrons — some wore “R.I.P. Nate Dogg” shirts, and his music blared throughout the convention center — another West Coast legend was also remembered at the car show. “We came out here to honor Eazy-E and his legendary legacy,” said Bone Thugs N Harmony’s Lazy Bone. “[I] came out here for Eazy-E, Nate Dogg and everybody just to tell them, ‘Rest in peace.’ It’s been 16 years yesterday since Eazy-E passed. He gave us all this opportunity. We at the DUB Show, and I don’t think it would be poppin’ without Eazy, Eric Wright.” The showroom was packed wall to wall with jaw-dropping vehicles, ranging from an Escalade with “suicide” doors emblazoned with animations of the Hulk to a 1969 Chevrolet with a cut-out back that served as one half of a hot dog stand, and dozens of trophies were handed out to the auto stakeholders at the end of the event. As the cars exited the venue, the consensus was that the show’s unofficial tribute to Nate Dogg was just the first of many events in his honor. “Nate’s legacy is gonna continue, ’cause Nate made great music, man,” Big Boy said. “We got so many anthems, and there’s so many people — not just with the music, but people that loved Nate — that’s still here to make sure that we grab that banner and keep running up that mountain top for him.” Related Videos Remembering Nate Dogg Related Photos Nate Dogg Laid To Rest, 03.26.2011 Nate Dogg’s Hometown Wake Nate Dogg: A Life In Photos Related Artists Nate Dogg
