‘Jersey Shore’ At The Beachcomber Bar: Owner Talks Snooki And Sushi

‘People come in every day looking for the cast,’ Michael Carbone tells MTV News. By Eric Ditzian Michael Carbone Photo: MTV News Though early episodes of the second season of “Jersey Shore” have shown Snooki, the Situation and their pals getting to know the hotspots in Miami Beach, the reality show will eventually follow them north, back to the familiar boardwalk of Seaside Heights, New Jersey. In fact, the cast is already there, taping episodes and taking the town by storm. They’ve become, in the words of T-shirt shop owner Danny Merk, “like the Beatles.” One guy who has a front-row seat for the madness is Michael Carbone, who owns the Beachcomber Bar & Grill on the boardwalk. “We get a visit almost every day from the ‘Jersey Shore’ cast. They seem to come here and like the food,” he told MTV News. “They’re very healthy eaters.” Among their favorite eats are sushi and the buffalo chicken salad. And, as the stars chow down, customers flock in simply to watch them chew. Such is the odd life of a reality-TV star. The Beachcomber was also the scene of one of the first season’s most notorious incidents, when Snooki got punched by a drunken wacko. “The famous Snooki punch, it happened right here,” Carbone said. “It happened on a Tuesday night. Something beyond our control. We had a customer that was cut off and flagged. He just kind of snuck in there and was trying to steal a drink. Snooki was the only one telling him, ‘Hey, cut it out.’ I guess he hit her without realizing what he did.” The occasional misconduct aside, Carbone said he and other Seaside business owners have welcomed the cast back to the boardwalk. “Business is up. It’s helping our economy out,” he explained. “People come in every day looking for the cast. We’re hoping the show runs for years and years to come.” Don’t miss “Jersey Shore” every Thursday at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. Related Videos The Return Of ‘Jersey Shore’

‘Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World’ Cheat Sheet: Everything You Need To Know!

Before checking out the unassuming hero at the theater, read our fun facts. By Eric Ditzian Michael Cera in “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” Photo: Universal Studios Scott Pilgrim is that prototypical, twentysomething slacker you all know and (mostly) tolerate. He spends too much time on your coach, indulges in a bit too much woe-is-me existential reflection, and yet he’s your pal and you love him to death. The only difference is that the world he inhabits — the magical realistic confines of “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” — overflows with pop-culture references come to life, from “Street Fighter” imagery to “Seinfeld” music to manga-influenced visuals. In the midst of this fantastical realm, Scott finds himself in a series of video game-style fights with the ex-flames of his one true love, Ramona Flowers. He must defeat them — and get his act together — if he’s to survive. It’s a strange concept, to be sure, but one that fans of the graphic novels on which the flick is based have been drooling over for years. Here, director Edgar Wright has compressed Bryan Lee O’Malley’s six volumes into one 110-minute film. That was no easy task. Universal picked up the rights to the series back in 2005. But now “Scott Pilgrim” is here, and so is MTV News. We’ve been tracking the project for years — each production update, inside look, cast interview and more. So we’ve gathered it all together: Check out MTV News’ cheat sheet for everything you need to know about “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.” Scott Pilgrim Gets It Together By the time we caught up with Wright in summer 2008 , he’d already tapped Michael Cera to play Scott and Mary Elizabeth Winstead to play Ramona. But months would pass until the rest of the cast began to come together. In January ’09, Kieran Culkin signed on to play Scott’s roommate Wallace Wells, followed by Chris Evans and Brandon Routh as evil exes , Ellen Wong as Scott’s fling Knives Chau, Aubrey Plaza as ever-annoying Julie Powers, Mark Webber as guitarist Stephen Stills, Alison Pill as drummer Kim Pine and Johnny Simmons as band buddy Young Neil. Beck and Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich came aboard as music supervisor . With the ensemble cast in place, and after a bunch of pre-production teaser photos hit the Web , production kicked off in Toronto in late March. O’Malley quickly told us that, in comparison to his comic creations, the cast is “pretty spot-on.” Of the visual-effects-heavy fight scenes , Webber told us: “The technology was totally out of my realm. I don’t even know what half this stuff is, but I get the sense that we’re all into something new, and it’s definitely [Wright’s] unique way of making a film.” Scott Pilgrim’s Precious Little Life Principal photography wrapped up in late August. “It’s a lot like the graphic novel,” Cera told us . “It’s going to look like how the graphic novel looks.” Though the cast scattered, going on to other projects, they continued to chat with MTV News about “Scott Pilgrim”: Evans talked about skateboard training, Jason Schwartzman walked us through a sword fight, Plaza revealed why her casting was “meant to be,” and Cera bragged about watching much of the film on Wright’s laptop. The new year brought an official production still of Cera with a flaming sword in his hand. Fans ate it up, and those lucky enough to sneak into early screenings started comparing the flick to “Star Wars.” Finally, in March, the first trailer debuted online. MTV News followed up a few months later with an exclusive clip . And little over a week after that, a second trailer arrived. Scott Pilgrim’s Finest Hour MTV News swooped into San Diego Comic-Con in July and promptly delivered an exclusive new “Pilgrim” clip . We followed that up with a ton of cast and crew interviews. Cera laughed about his Con-going experience, Pill and Webber revealed how they trained to become big-screen musicians, and Wright answered one very important question: Just who is this Scott Pilgrim we’ve been hearing so much about? “Bryan Lee O’Malley, who wrote the books, once described the character as the hero of the movie inside his own head — and this, essentially, is the movie,” he explained. “So it’s kind of a daydream for people who’ve been brought up on Saturday morning cartoons and video games and too many sugary products.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.” For breaking comic book movie news, columns and more — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com . Jersey Shore Cast: On Strike!

The Jersey Shore cast is so upset with its contracts that most or all of the guidos may refuse to fist-pump for a third season until they get paid more by MTV. They were supposed to begin shooting “at home” scenes today for season three, but J-Woww, Ronnie, Sammi, Pauly D and Vinny apparently said no way . The status of The Situation and Snooki is unclear. The bottom line is that the cast feels it can make more money doing appearances than filming the show. The gang feels that its current deal, for $10K/episode, was only supposed to cover Season 2 of Jersey Shore only, and wants to renegotiate for Season 3. How does MTV feel about all this? Live together, die alone … or something . Signals are conflicting. The producers of Jersey Shore think “the show is not about famous rich people with managers” at the shore and may cut the cord. 495 Productions would like to keep a few cast members – The Situation, Snooki and Pauly D – but they think that the strike by the cast is the last straw. Other reports suggest that in fact, The Situation is being tempted with a new contract that would pay him more than other stars – who are now pissed. The network brass is toying with replacing all or some of the original cast members with new blood, although this idea has its share of detractors, too. The problem for the network? Sources say MTV thinks they have “magic in a bottle” with this particular group and wants to keep the cast wholly intact. Would you watch Jersey Shore with a new cast?

‘The Hills’ Stars Plan Their Post-Show Careers

Some plan to stay on TV, while others have behind-the-scenes projects in the works. By Jocelyn Vena Kristin Cavallari and Audrina Patridge Photo: MTV On “The Hills,” fans were given glimpses into the work lives of the cast. Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port both worked at Teen Vogue and People’s Revolution, where they were joined (for a short time) by Stephanie Pratt. Lo Bosworth works at Smashbox. Audrina Patridge let us all in on what it’s like to work at Epic Records. Heidi Montag even tried her hand at event planning when she worked at Bolthouse Entertainment. But now that the show is ending on Tuesday (July 13), how will we get our fix of our favorite “Hills” stars? Well, we have the lowdown on the next big moves the cast plans to make. Lo Bosworth, who has hinted at wanting to get into TV hosting, has launched her own lifestyle website, TheLoDown.com, where she’ll be on hand to give out advice on everything from fashion to boys. She’s also the face of Nivea’s Goodbye Cellulite Challenge. Kristin Cavallari is looking to continue her career in television — but behind the lens. “Going back to ‘The Hills,’ I’ve enjoyed seeing the behind-the-scenes and how everything gets put together, the TV magic,” she said. “So I want to start producing. I’ve been pitching some shows and talking to some people about that. So, hopefully, right away, I can get one of those running, and then I want to keep acting. I would like that. I like being in charge and calling the shots.” Audrina Patridge might land her own reality show, and the Bongo model admitted that a break was foremost on her mind. “I plan on taking a vacation,” she said. “I really want to go to Europe and just travel and hang out with my friends and family down in Orange County. But other than that, I’m still going to castings and still going to auditions for acting, definitely going to continue pushing for that. I would love to do a [period] piece, like, medieval. I love ‘The Tudors’ and I love ‘Troy’ and those types of movies. So that’s my dream.” While Spencer Pratt said he wanted to go back to school , he’s also been tweeting nonstop about his new website, the aptly titled KingSpencer.com , where he covers, ironically, celebrity news. His estranged wife, Heidi Montag , has also recently launched her own website , where she’s shared several designs for a new fashion line she is working on. She has also tweeted about working on several scripts for films, trying to get a role in “Transformers 3” and working on music for a new album. What do you want to see the cast do next? Tell us in the comments! Join MTVNews.com on Tuesday, July 13, at 8 p.m. ET for a live stream from the red carpet of Hollywood’s Roosevelt Hotel, where the stars will gather for “The Hills Live: A Hollywood Ending.” Then tune in for the series finale at 10 p.m. ET on MTV and “The Hills Live: A Hollywood Ending After Show” at 11. What The Hell is Happening to Scream 4?

Because Fourth of July weekend wouldn’t be complete without some fireworks, here comes the implosion that is Scream 4 . Earlier today, Zap2it reported that Kevin Williamson had been taken off the horror sequel and replaced with Ehren Kruger, much to the consternation of the cast — and likely Williamson himself, since he wasn’t a big fan of Kruger’s Scream 3 script. And now, it looks like their source for this scoop has been unearthed: Could it be Kevin Williamson himself?

Scream 4 Script Rewrites Causing Major Trouble Among Cast?

Since Scream 4 updates apparently happen hourly , here’s your latest: Screenwriter Kevin Williamson has already been replaced on the set by Scream 3 writer Ehren Kruger. And now Kruger — the man responsible in part for the immortal Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen script — is handling the rewrites and apparently leaving the cast quite unhappy. The changes reportedly caused Lauren Graham to drop out and are upsetting Hayden Panetierre, whose role has been “dumbed down significantly.” Just wait until she’s allowed to read the finished script.
