Movieline’s Week in Review: Say Whaaat?

The first week of August (and the official beginning of the end of summer) rolled by in fine fashion; sure, it was at times an agonizingly slow news week, but the first looks, surprise developments, and WTF ? revelations kept things bouncy. Head into the weekend with your head held high, week. You gave us plenty to munch on. For starters: The terms “Brett Ratner” and “Oscars” in the same sentence? You so crazy!

Anne Hathaway as Catwoman: First Look!

First, we got a look at Tom Hardy as Bane . Now, Warner Bros. has released the first photo of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, as she takes to the streets in a fun ride: The iconic character was introduced by Julie Newmar in the 1966 Batman TV series. Since then, Eartha Kitt, Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry have all donned the slick, leather black outfit of Catwoman. While Hathaway won’t reveal anything about her version – “I signed a blood oath,” she said upon accepting the role – at least we now have an idea of what she’ll look like. Thoughts? The Dark Knight Rises comes out on July 20, 2012.

Making her co-star boyfriend Milo Ventimiglia wish he were back home in the States, Hayden Panettiere was looking oh-so-sexy as she stepped out in New York City on Tuesday afternoon (September 2). Dressed in an all-black ensemble topped off with bright red lipstick, the “Heroes” hottie made her way into MTV’s TRL studios for a guest appearance on the hit show. Britney Does Vegas

Taking a break from her usual daily routine, Britney Spears was spotted enjoying some fun in the sun yesterday (August 31) at a Las Vegas pool, along with a few friends. Surrounded by bodyguards, the “Gimme More” songstress sipped icy cool drinks and puffed on cigarettes as she worked on her tan. Later that evening, Miss Spears made her way through the Mirage Hotel and Casino, along with her entourage, to attend “The Beatles Cirque Du Soleil” performance. And according to FOX Pop Tarts’ Hollie McKay, Brit Brit may have a surprise in store for the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, coming up this September 7th at 9:00pm. McKay reports that Spears will have her very own dressing room at the venue, sparking speculation that she may be on the card to do more than just hand out an award.
