Ellen Page: Topless For Flare Magazine!

Sure, Ellen Page came out as gay recently and has since heroically defended LGBT rights and helped make the world a safer, more comfortable place for young men and women who are questioning their sexuality, but clearly her biggest of late is taking her top off for Flare magazine! We kid. But seriously, Ellen clearly hit the gym hard for her role in X-Men Days of Future Past . She talks to Flare about reprising her role as Kitty Pryde in the highly anticipated summer film, but more importantly Ellen opens up about the challenges she faces as a gay woman working in Hollywood: “You hear things like, ‘People shouldn’t know about your life because you’re creating an illusion on-screen,” Ellen says. “But I don’t see other actresses going to great lengths to hide their heterosexuality. That’s an unfair double standard.” On struggling with her decision to come out, Ellen says, “I felt scared about people knowing. I felt awkward around gay people; I felt awkward about not being myself.” Since coming out, Ellen has eagerly embraced her role as a gay rights icon. Earlier this year Ellen’s response to anti-gay criticism on Twitter won her legions of new fans. Check out some other celebs who are helping pave the way for future LGBT entertainers in the gallery below: 26 Celebrities Who Are Out and Proud Open Slideshow 1. Nick Clooney: Thrilled Over Son’s Engagement to Amal Alamuddin!

We are yet to hear from either betrothed party, but another person close to George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin have confirmed the couple’s engagement: The actor’s father! A day after  Alamuddin’s law firm released a statement that congratulated these two on their decision to marry, the Oscar winner’s dad told Us Weekly that he’s “thrilled” for his son and future daughter-in-law. Amal Alamuddin, George Clooney Engaged: Who Is She? “We have had an opportunity to interact with this wonderful young woman and these are two great people,” Nick Clooney says . “We hope for them the best.” And George Clooney’s mom feels the same way. Nina Clooney told Great Britian’s The Daily Mail on Monday that she was “extremely happy” about her child’s engagement, adding of George’s fiancee: “Amal’s a lovely girl. I like her very much.” This will mark Clooney’s second marriage, though he had said on multiple occasions after his 1993 divorce from Talia Balsam that he would never walk down the aisle again. But Alamuddin, a 36-year old British attorney who is respected for her human rights battles, clearly won the actor over with her charm, intelligence and beauty. We wish these two the best! Tell ‘Em How You Really Feel: Legendary NBA Baller Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Reacts To Donald Sterling’s Racist Remarks

Kareem is the latest person to put this racist piece of isht in his place. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Reacts To Donald Sterling The basketball legend took to Time Magazine to address the Donald Sterling controversy and society’s reaction to the situation. According to Time: It’s time to look at ourselves — and our collective moral outrage — in the mirror, says former NBA player Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Moral outrage is exhausting. And dangerous. The whole country has gotten a severe case of carpal tunnel syndrome from the newest popular sport of Extreme Finger Wagging. Not to mention the neck strain from Olympic tryouts for Morally Superior Head Shaking. All over the latest in a long line of rich white celebrities to come out of the racist closet. (Was it only a couple days ago that Cliven Bundy said blacks would be better off picking cotton as slaves? And only last June Paula Deen admitted using the “N” word?) Yes, I’m angry, too, but not just about the sins of Donald Sterling. I’ve got a list. But let’s start with Sterling. I used to work for him, back in 2000 when I coached for the Clippers for three months. He was congenial, even inviting me to his daughter’s wedding. Nothing happened or was said to indicate he suffered from IPMS (Irritable Plantation Master Syndrome). 2006: U.S. Dept. of Justice sued Sterling for housing discrimination. Allegedly, he said, “Black tenants smell and attract vermin.” 2009: He reportedly paid $2.73 million in a Justice Dept. suit alleging he discriminated against blacks, Hispanics, and families with children in his rentals. (He also had to pay an additional nearly $5 million in attorneys fees and costs due to his counsel’s “sometimes outrageous conduct.”) 2009: Clippers executive (and one of the greatest NBA players in history) sued for employment discrimination based on age and race. Hit the flip for more of Kareem’s thoughts on the subject.

Donald Sterling Racism Prompts Companies to Yank Clippers Sponsorship

In the wake of Donald Sterling’s horribly offensive comments about minorities, a number of high-profile companies have pulled their sponsorship of his professional basketball team. Red Bull, State Farm, CarMax, AQUAhydrate, Kia and Virgin America all announced today that they are at the very least suspending all affiliation with the Los Angeles Clippers. That’s what happens when you berate your girlfriend for interacting with African-Americans and when you condescendingly way you put food on the plates of black players . Donald Sterling Racist Recording “We trust and respect the NBA’s process to formally investigate the matter, and in the interim, are suspending all team-related marketing activities,” Red Bull said in a statement. “We will continue to support our Red Bull athlete, Blake Griffin, his teammates and coaching staff in their pursuit of an NBA title.” Added CarMax: “CarMax finds the statements attributed to the Clippers’ owner completely unacceptable. These views directly conflict with CarMax’s culture of respect for all individuals. While we have been a proud Clippers sponsor for 9 years and support the team, fans and community, these statements necessitate that CarMax end its sponsorship.” A number of celebrities have also spoken out against Sterling. Stipper Locker Room is the Best TUMBLR Ever of the Day

The single greatest thing happened to the internet… STRIPPER LOCKER ROOM It’s like some National Geographic, Discovery Channel exploration into the world behind the glitz and glam of working a gutter strip club…the Changing Room… Surprisingly enough, I am not into strippers. I am more into talking about my feelings in Church group meetings, because breaking down Jesus people is more challenging than breaking down broken down sex workers, but I do go to the strippers every once in a while, and since I hang with actual pornstars, their ratchet low class, low grade pussy, sadness doesn’t appeal to me in a sexual way…I’ve gone too Hollywood… But I guess ratchet, low class, low grade, sadness when coupled with getting half naked to pay their way, while walking around like they are fucking celebrities, is entertaining sometimes….like once a week….where they money grub, I call them out on it, they get mad, I try to convince them to do porn, they pretend they are too good for it, even though they offer to fuck you for 500 dollars at the end of the night….but I hate every second of it. Either way, this is some sociological weirdness. Strippers are so bad…but so good…I mean I wish they could take better fucking Selfies, but maybe that’s part of why they are stripping for 10 dollars a song and not doing anything more substantial…I mean that and their average trashy looks… I prefer the strippers who are ashamed of being strippers, and not out there taking selfies like their job is something awesome, because I like broken girls aware of being broken, ashamed of their choices, not owning it like they are headlining a music video…but it’s still amazing.

For Us By Us: Ex-Baller Larry Johnson Says NBA Players Should Form An All-Black Basketball League With Only Black Owners

The NBBA? Larry Johnson Says NBA Players Should Form Black Owned Basketball League Via NYPost Knicks executive and former player Larry Johnson had a decidedly different but still strong reaction to the racially insensitive remarks Clippers owner Donald Sterling is alleged to have made. On Saturday night, Johnson tweeted: “Black people your Focusing on the wrong thing. We should be focusing on having our own, Own team own League! To For Self!!’’ The initial indication was Johnson was calling for an all-African-American league complete with black ownership. It wasn’t the first time Johnson, who is black, concerned himself with the fact the NBA’s ownership is mostly white while its players are mostly black. During the 1999 NBA Finals between the Knicks and Spurs, Johnson caused a stir by saying: “We’ve got a lot of rebellious slaves on this [Knicks] team.” When asked at the time why he referred to his teammates as slaves, Johnson said: “I’ve got to explain that to you? We don’t go with the mainstream.’’ Johnson was hired by the Knicks two years ago and serves many roles as a basketball and business operations representative. It’s unclear what his role will be under new team president Phil Jackson. Forming a league requires a whole lot of resources. Do you think “Grandmama’s” idea is practical? Image via AP
