Name dropping has always been prevalent in Hip-Hop music, but it seems as if rappers of today aren't just dropping names, they're dedicating entire songs to other celebrities, rappers, athletes, public figures, model chicks and infamous criminals. Nowadays you’re seemingly no one if you don’t have a song named after you. With that said, congratulations to Amber Rose who had a song dedicated her by some Florida rappers just this week. The man who responsible for exposing the hacking going on at News of the World was found dead but police are saying it’s not suspicious??? What the hell is going on!?!? Sean Hoare, the former News of the World showbiz reporter who was the first named journalist to allege Andy Coulson was aware of phone hacking by his staff, has been found dead, the Guardian has learned. Hoare, who worked on the Sun and the News of the World with Coulson before being dismissed for drink and drugs problems, is said to have been found dead at his Watford home. Hertfordshire police would not confirm his identity, but the force said in a statement: “At 10.40am today [Monday 18 July] police were called to Langley Road, Watford, following the concerns for the welfare of a man who lives at an address on the street. Upon police and ambulance arrival at a property, the body of a man was found. The man was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after. “The death is currently being treated as unexplained, but not thought to be suspicious. Police investigations into this incident are ongoing.” Just to give a little more insight on how crucial Hoare was to bringing a spotlight to the ethical violations by News of the World, he opened up to the New York Times when they were investigating the phone hacking case, telling the paper that his editor Coulson knew of the phone hacking and actively encouraged his staff to intercept the phone calls of celebrities in the pursuit of exclusives. He later spoke to the BBC, claiming that Coulson personally asked him to tap into phones and saying that Coulson’s claim that he was unaware of the practice was “a lie, it is simply a lie”. Hoare spoke to the New York Times again last week, explaining how reporters at the News of the World were able to use police technology to locate people using their mobile phone signals in exchange for payments to police officers. He said journalists were able to use a technique called “pinging” which measured the distance between mobile handsets and a number of phone masts to pinpoint its location. Hoare gave further details about the use of “pinging” to the Guardian last week. He described how reporters would ask a news desk executive to obtain the location of a target: “Within 15 to 30 minutes someone on the news desk would come back and say ‘right that’s where they are.’” He said: “You’d just go to the news desk and they’d just come back to you. You don’t ask any questions. You’d consider it a job done. The chain of command is one of absolute discipline and that’s why I never bought into it, like with Andy saying he wasn’t aware of it and all that. That’s bollocks.” He said he would stand by everything he had told the New York Times about “pinging”. “I don’t know how often it happened. That would be wrong of me. But if I had access as a humble reporter … “ He admitted he had had problems with drink and drugs and had been in rehab. “But that’s irrelevant,” he said. “There’s more to come. This is not going to go away.” Hoare named a private investigator who he said had links with the News of the World, adding: “He may want to talk now because I think what you’ll find now is a lot of people are going to want to cover their arse.” Speaking to another Guardian journalist last week, Hoare repeatedly expressed the hope that the hacking scandal would lead to journalism in general being cleaned up and said he had decided to blow the whistle on the activities of some of his former News of the World colleagues with that aim in mind. He also said he had been injured the previous weekend while taking down a marquee erected for a children’s party. He said he had broken his nose and badly injured his foot when a relative accidentally struck him with a heavy pole from the marquee. Hoare also emphasised that he was not making any money from telling his story. Hoare, who has been treated for drug and alcohol problems, reminisced about partying with former pop stars and said he missed the days when he was able to go out on the town. Hmmmm… So was his death cause by drinking, drugs, the after effects of taking down a marquee or… whistle blower haters??? Considering the police were in on the phone hacking, it doesn’t seem entirely out of the realm of possibility that they could be involved in the cover up of a suspicious murder. This is real suspect. Just sayin’! Source
Looks like the old school is going to make a big comeback! According to sports industry insiders Julius “Dr. J” Erving and his son Julius “J. Erv” Erving III, along with Ether Marketing owner Deon Taylor have acquired the rights to the American Basketball Association (ABA) in which Dr. J won 3 championships and four MVP awards while a member of the Virgina Squires. The Dr. and his music executive son own a sports marketing firm call 6 Sports, will re-launch the defunct league (Julius Erving III) Sources say that the resurgence of the ABA will be akin to the feeling of “old school” basketball with a slightly updated style. Hard-nosed play, free-flowing offense, and a overall more exciting brand of basketball minus the antics of an And1 or Harlem Globetrotters type of game. In addition, we are told that there will be a push for celebrities to own the teams outright to help draw attention to league. Of the twelve teams scheduled to participate in Miami, Atlanta, New York, New Jersey, Toronto, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Baltimore, Los Angeles, etc, high-profile stars like Drake, Leonardo DiCaprio, Lady Gaga, and others could possibly be the head honchos of their own city’s team. With the impending NBA lockout next year this league could easily be the best brand of professional basketball around in 2012. Players from all realms of basketball from college, current NBA players, to blackballed NBA players like Allen Iverson or Stephon Marbury. From what we understand there already several networks scrambling to retain the TV rights to air the games once everything is in place. Neither Dr. J, Julius Erving III, nor Deon Taylor have commented on the newly acquired league.
‘I was nervous, and I don’t even get nervous about nothing,’ B tells MTV News about recording ‘Grove St. Party’ with Weezy. By Steven Roberts Lil B Photo: Roger Kisby/ Getty Images Lil Wayne dropped his highly anticipated and aptly titled Sorry 4 the Wait mixtape on Wednesday, further cementing his knack for jacking beats. One surprise on the project was Weezy’s take on Waka Flocka Flame’s “Grove St. Party,” which included a feature from the Based God himself, Lil B. B was photographed with the YMCB family this past June, and he even tweeted about recording a track with Wayne. Now that the track has finally come to fruition, MTV News caught up with the Based God to chat about the experience and his gratitude to Mack Maine for setting it up. “He put us two together, me and Wayne, because he knew I had dumb-ass respect and major love for Wayne,” Lil B told us. “A lot of people say that I’m like him, and I take that as a compliment. It was crazy to see how Wayne embraced me, how he really respect my music [as] an artist. “I was nervous, and I don’t even get nervous about nothing, but I was nervous with that boy Wayne in that mother—-er,” he added about their session. “It was a good nervous, because it was like, ‘Man, I really made it.’ It was a bunch of people in the studio, but Wayne had it for me and him to get on this song, and it was just a real honor.” Lil B said the experience was like an NBA rookie getting a chance to play one-on-one against Kobe or Jordan, adding that Wayne was a fan of his music — the copious amounts of it — and a supporter of what he was doing. “He really liked the song ‘Free Wayne’ that I did,” Lil B said. “He knows what’s up. Wayne is hip. He knows about the cooking dance and everything. We was out there cooking at the Curren$y show, going nuts. Everybody at Cash Money, I just want them to have a long life, be safe, healthy and have fun and be happy.” Have you checked out Wayne’s “Grove St. Party”? Share your reviews in the comments! Famed and highly sought after celebrity makeup artist, AJ Crimson, took a few moments out of his hectic schedule to give Hue Knew It a bird’s eye view into his world of beauty one question at a time. Q: Inquiring minds want to know…who are some the celebs you’ve had the pleasure of working with? Estelle, Brandy, Hilary Duff, Amerie, Letoya Luckett, Raven Symone, Regina King, Lauren London and the list goes on and fortunately on. Q: Of all the celebrities you’ve worked with, who’s the most adventurous with her makeup and why given that you’ve established yourself for your clean makeup techniques? I’d say Estelle, takes the most risks with her look. She loves to try new things. She’s not afraid to push the envelope. We’ve had some great moments. I can remember a brief conversation with Rachel Roy where she complemented me on my work with Estelle, from the extreme to clean because even with her look being soft and clean it too was setting a trend. I have seen many things we have tried translated in new ways on other artist. Same as with Letoya Luckett, our Purple lip from the video for Regret really started a movement as well! Q: What’s most meaningful to you about being a makeup artist? I have the opportunity to make someone look and feel their best. It’s a wonderful feeling knowing that I help evoke confidence in a person. Q: What’s the one makeup product a woman should never be without? I would have to say Lip gloss. That’s why I created my own line Kissable Couture (21 shades in all). Working with Fergie for years we bought up stock from all over of a favorite shade she wore that was discontinued. I thought what are we gonna do when these run out?! The only answer I could come up was to make my own! Lip gloss is fresh and now! Make the lips a focal point without being obnoxious. It’s inexpensive, yet makes you feel luxurious. Its fashion for your lips. Click here to read more to find out the one feature AJ says a woman should emphasize on her face. Hue Knew It? I did .
