One of the major complaints Black shoppers who want to buy from Black businesses have is that they just can’t find Black-owned businesses. But now a new Google Chrome Extension aims to help consumers find Black businesses easy. BuyBlack was created by Angie Coleman, an account manager at San Francisco-based CodeHS, and it lists Black-owned alternatives to online shoppers’ favorite retail sites. Here’s how it works: Users install the app then a Black solidarity fist appears in the corner of their browsers, which then expands into a drop down list of sites from Black-owned businesses with similar product offerings whenever they search for items online. There are products and services ranging from makeup and clothing to home goods, art, vacation rentals, food, and more. The op-ed also makes mention that Black communities have largely been struck with the issue, which has sparked a robust conversation on Twitter Friday morning. Paul Krugman’s piece isn’t especially about the issues in Flint, Mich. or the truth that many inner-city dwellings still have issues with lead. Instead, it focuses on the lead poisoning policies of presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, both of whom have not made the issue a central focus of the race. Pamela Anderson coming out against porn is a bit like Justin Bieber coming out against shirtless photos. Or Chris Brown coming out against violence toward women. Or Milo Yiannopoulos coming out against trolling strangers on the Internet. You get the point. But here’s why we made those hilarious comparisons: Because Pamela Anderson has come out against porn! Typically, when the words “Pamela Anderson” and “come” are in the same sentence, it’s in relation to the star’s active participation in the world of pornography. But not this time around. The busty 49-year old made news on Friday by teaming up with Rabbi Schmuley Boteach to write an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal that warns about the many “addictive dangers of pornography.” Yes, that bears repeating: Pamela Anderson and a rabbit have written an article together in which they explain the dangerous of watching adult movies. In the piece, Anderson and Boteach argue that porn has a “corrosive effect on a man’s soul and on his ability to function as a husband, and by extension, as father.” They continue: “This is a public hazard of unprecedented seriousness given how freely available, anonymously accessible and easily disseminated pornography is nowadays. “How many families will suffer? How many marriages will implode? How many talented men will scrap their most important relationships and careers for a brief onanistic thrill?” The opinion-based article was published mere days after former Congressman Anthony Weiner was caught in his third sexting scandal. As a result, wife, Huma Abedin – one of Hillary Clinton’s closest friends and aides – announced that she is separating from her husband of six years . We only bring this up because Anderson did so. Reads an excerpt of the op-ed: “If anyone still doubted the devastation that porn addiction wreaks on those closest to the addict, behold the now-shattered marriage of Mr. Weiner and Huma Abedin, a breakup that she initiated … in shock at the disgraced ex-congressman’s inclusion of their 4-year-old son in one lewd photo that he sent to a near-stranger.” That’s true. Of course, arguing that a porn ADDICTION can be dangerous is very different than arguing that merely watching porn sometimes can be dangerous. An addiction to anything is bad for you. The actress and the religious figure went on to warn that kids raised in the current digital environment will “become adults inured to intimacy and in need of even greater graphic stimulation. “They are the crack babies of porn.” What can society do about this problem? “We must educate ourselves and our children to understand that porn is for losers – a boring, wasteful and dead-end outlet for people too lazy to rep the ample rewards of healthy sexuality.” The article is noteworthy in general because Anderson made a sex tape in 1995 with then-husband Tommy Lee. She has also graced the cover of Playboy 14 times. She even covered the magazine’s final nude issue in January/February of this year. Does this make Anderson a hypocrite? Or is she saying she’s seen the error of her many naked ways? And where do we draw the line? Anderson is known for wearing VERY low-cut dresses or blouses. Is drawing attention to one’s breasts part of the problem? Isn’t that also putting sexuality out there for kids to see? We’d be curious to see Pamela’s take on this question.
Starz Execs Refuse To Cast Chris Brown To Appear On “Power” Earlier this week, 50 Cent took to Instagram to defend “his boy” Chris Brown against the cop’s overzealous response to the accusations put forth by f**kgirl Baylee Curran. As he says, 50’s relationship with Chris goes way back and to that end, he was looking forward to giving him a role on his hit show “Power”. However, the Starz execs put the kibosh on Breezy’s appearance and he was NOT happy about it according to PageSix Chris Brown “lost it” after he was booted from 50 Cent’s show “Power” just before he allegedly pulled a gun on a former beauty pageant contestant. Sources tell us that Fiddy had promised his friend Brown a major role on his hit Starz show, but network execs put a stop to the plan. A source close to Brown told us, “50 promised Chris a big role on ‘Power,’ playing a drug dealer. But 50 didn’t consult the network first, and execs were not happy when they found out about it.” The source continued, “The network insisted that Chris’ casting was not going to happen, because of fears about his anger issues. There was a big blowup, and they had to tell Chris he was not going to get the role. The news was delivered to him early Monday. He was livid.” Despite “the man” putting bangin’ the gavel, 50 ain’t trying to hear it… On Thursday, 50 Cent was still insisting he’ll get Brown on the show, despite the network’s reservations. He told Page Six, “Tune into ‘Power’ next season, because you will see Chris Brown.” We can’t think of a better show for a person with “anger issues” to play a role on. Celebrity stylist Brad Goreski may have been hired to dress Kaley Cuoco for a shoot, but if social media is any indication, he failed his client miserably. Goreski took a snap of himself with The Big Bang Theory star, who opened her blouse to reveal a boob. Yes, this boob: Goreski covered Cuoco’s nipple with a heart emoji, and used an old man filter for his own face. Cuoco looked damn proud to be showing off her breast, and rightfully so. In May 2014, Cuoco told Cosmopolitan that she got a boob job when she was 18, and just like Naya Rivera , Cuoco says it was money well spent. “It’s one of the best things I’ve ever done,” she said. “I love them. It was adorable. We hadn’t really done that yet,” she said of her time spent with Cook. “One is usually cheering for the other so that was kind of cute to go out together,” she explained, referring to their riding competitions. In a preview for an upcoming episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians , Khloe and Rob Kardashian were having a serious conversation about his weight and how he’s feeling, when Khloe had to stop short. “Oh my … you gotta get out of here,” a horrified Khloe said to Kim as she sauntered into the kitchen wearing the littlest black dress one’s eyes hath ever seen. “Kimberly, how much are you?” Even Kim had to admit she was bordering on ridiculous, acknowledging that it might have been a bit bunch. “The neighbor did look at me like ‘Hooker city,” Kim joked. “I did feel uncomfortable for one second.” Yah think? “They probably think Rob paid for you!” Khloe quipped, at which point viewers high-fived a million angels. Though Kim is no stranger to body-con dresses, her looks over the past few years have bordered on obscene .
