Mary Cheney and Heather Poe: Married!

Mary Cheney, the openly gay daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, married her longtime partner Heather Poe earlier today. Cheney spokeswoman Kara Ahern confirmed the nuptials. “Our daughter Mary and her long time partner, Heather Poe, were married today in Washington, DC,” the Cheneys said in a statement. Mary (left) and Heather “have been in a committed relationship for many years, and we are all delighted that they were able to take advantage of the opportunity to have that relationship recognized,” Dick and his wife Lynne added. “Mary and Heather and their children are very important and much loved members of our family and we wish them every happiness.” As V.P., Dick Cheney regularly broke ranks with the Republican party and president George W. Bush with his support of same-sex marriage. Poe and Mary Cheney have two children: Cheney gave birth to their son in 2007, and their daughter in 2009. They live together in Virginia. Congratulations to the whole family!

Niall Horan Teases New Album, Demi Lovato Romance

Niall Horan appeared on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show on Thursday and teased a pair of exciting developments: A new album from One Direction. A relationship with Demi Lovato. “We’ve spoken,” Horan told the host of the new X Factor judge. “She’s a cool girl so I got in contact with her. She’s really nice, and I don’t know what’s going to happen.” Intriguing! Possibly adorable! The young singer also touched on a number of other topics, as highlighted below. On a second album : “We’re trying to get it done. We’re working on it at the moment. Recording whenever we can, and writing songs on the road. Hopefully we can get it done before Christmas.” On touring with a dog : “We’ve looked into it, and it’s going to be hard to do since we’ve got so much traveling to do next year. We wanted to get a little mini husky. We got the idea from James from Big Time Rush. He’s got one mini-husky, and there’s only a few of them in the world.” On his favorite hobbies : “Sleep! Any chance I get I try and sleep as much as I can. Sleep and eat and play the guitar.”

Ronan Farrow, Woody Allen’s Son, Rips Dad in Father’s Day Tweet

Legendary director Woody Allen had kind of an awkward Father’s Day yesterday after his estranged son ripped him on Twitter with a joke about Woody and his wife. When your wife used to be your stepdaughter, you’re sorta asking for it. Ronan Farrow, the 24-year-old son of Allen and Mia Farrow, posted on Twitter, “Happy father’s day — or as they call it in my family, happy brother-in-law’s day.” Mia Farrow then re-tweeted the message … and added the word, “BOOM.” According to reports, Ronan stopped speaking to his father back in 1992 when it was discovered Woody was cheating on Mia with Soon-Yi Previn. The plastic 17-year has released a new video in which she simply poses like the big screen icon. Revenge star Ashley Madekwe and actor Iddo Goldberg married Sunday in the English countryside, according to reports. They couple of five years tied to knot in front of famous pals including Mischa Barton, Christa Allen, David Schwimmer and David Walliams. The pair met as costars in the Showtime series Secret Diary of a Call Girl . “Me and David Schwimmer just made a best man’s speech at a wedding. We were in competition to be our friend Iddo Goldberg’s favourite David,” Walliams said. Barton was impressed with the David’s speech at the wedding as well. Chris Hayes, MSNBC Commentator, Questions "Hero" Designation for Military Members

Chris Hayes, a political commentator on MSNBC, has created quite a stir – on Memorial Day of all days – for remarks he made yesterday in regard to the designation of military personnel as “heroes.” The journalist said he feels “uncomfortable” throwing that word about because it is “so rhetorically proximate to justifications for more war.” In other words: How can we refer to someone as heroic if we disagree with the cause for which he or she died? It certainly seems like an odd way to make a point about war. Surely we can differentiate between policy and the troops carrying out that policy in the name of a country they love, can’t we? Former Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon is now a married woman. The actress exchanged vows over the weekend with Christine Marinoni, the woman to whom she got engaged three years ago during a rally to support same-sex marriage in New York. A bill allowing for just that was passed in the summer of 2011. Confirms Nixon’s rep to People : “On May 27, 2012, Cynthia Nixon and her girlfriend, Christine Marinoni, were legally married in the state of New York. Nixon wore a custom dress by Carolina Herrera.” Nixon – who has two children from a previous relationship and one with Marinoni, an education activist – created a stir earlier this year when she said homosexuality is a choice .
