Former Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon is now a married woman. The actress exchanged vows over the weekend with Christine Marinoni, the woman to whom she got engaged three years ago during a rally to support same-sex marriage in New York. A bill allowing for just that was passed in the summer of 2011. Confirms Nixon’s rep to People : “On May 27, 2012, Cynthia Nixon and her girlfriend, Christine Marinoni, were legally married in the state of New York. Nixon wore a custom dress by Carolina Herrera.” Nixon – who has two children from a previous relationship and one with Marinoni, an education activist – created a stir earlier this year when she said homosexuality is a choice . It’s not quite a Chris Brown and Chrissy Teigen -level feud, but Pauly D and Deadmau5 have been engaged in a bit of a Twitter beef of their own this week. $h!t got so real after Deadmau5 said earlier this week that the Jersey Shore star was a hack and basically has zero talent when it comes to DJing. Pauly D’s response? Jessica Vega, a New York woman who faked having cancer so donors would pay for her “dream wedding” and Caribbean honeymoon, was released from jail Wednesday after repaying the guests she conned and agreeing to community service. Makes that stomach flu you used to skip work last month seem tame at least. Vega apologized in court for the scam and was sentenced to time served. She had been behind bars less than two months since her arrest. After her unbelievable stunt unraveled, she pleaded guilty in April to charges of scheming to defraud and possession of a forged instrument. When she left the Orange County Jail in upstate New York a few hours later, she apologized again, insisting that “of course” she was sorry. Officials say Jessica Vega had paid back more than $13,000 to her guests, with nine victims getting checks ranging from $500-3,700. Vega also was sentenced to five years of probation and must do 300 hours of community service while undergoing mental health treatment. She was living in Montgomery, 60 miles north of NYC, when she began the scam, which picked up steam when a newspaper did a story on her. Residents of the area, touched by her claim to be dying of leukemia, had donated her dress, the wedding rings, an Aruba time-share and more. Sometime after the 2010 wedding, the groom, Michael O’Connell, went to the newspaper with questions about Vega’s story, and they divorced. Police investigated and Vega was arrested in early April in Virginia, where she was surprisingly again living with O’Connell and their two kids. The judge said he doubted that Vega was the sole perpetrator of the scam. O’Connell said afterward he had “absolutely nothing” to do with it.
According to a new report, Kanye West is doing all he can to lock down the Hottest Woman in the World . The latest issue of OK! Weekly quotes an insider who says Kanye really has proposed to the large-breasted reality star. The only problem? She doesn’t take him seriously. “Kim has tried to discourage it, but Kanye has said he wants to marry her for years now,” a Kardashian source claims . “On more than one occasion he said, ‘Kim, will you marry me?’ He’d be dead serious if she’d say yes.” Heck, Kanye rapped about it on a recent track. It doesn’t get more serious than that for the artist. “I think he believes if he asks her 100 times, then eventually she’ll say yes,” the mole says, adding that West even got down on one knee during a Los Angeles visit this month. Former Dexter star Julie Benz married Rich Orosco on Saturday. The couple tied the knot at 6 p.m. at the historic John Sowden house in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles. The wedding featured a Mexican theme, in a nod to Cinco de Mayo and the groom, a marketing executive of Mexican heritage. Engaged since last June, the actress, 40, first met Orosco, 39, five years ago, her rep confirmed at the time the engagement was announced. Jessica Lynn Lopez, 25, was found at the Ramada Inn in San Diego last Tuesday, exhibiting several self-inflicted cuts and with a suspicious note lying nearby. Only this wasn’t your run-of-the-mill suicide attempt. Not by a long shot. Hours later, the body of a missing San Diego-area woman, who had been the subject of a widely publicized search, was discovered 70 miles to the northeast. Authorities then charged Lopez with murdering Brittany Dawn Killgore (below), 22. Lopez pleaded not guilty at her arraignment Thursday. Investigators have not yet said how the women may have known each other or any alleged motive. Scant information has only fueled speculation and deepened the mystery . “I understand there’s a great deal of interest in the crime and many unanswered questions,” San Diego District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis told reporters. “Answers will come in time as this case makes its way through the criminal justice system.” Killgore disappeared April 13, four days after she filed for divorce from her husband, Lance Cpl. Cory Killgore, who has been deployed to Afghanistan for seven months. The couple wed in July 2010 in Missouri. The only trace left behind by the deceased was her cell phone, which was found in San Diego’s trendy Gaslamp Quarter of bars and restaurants. Another Marine, 45-year-old Staff Sergeant Louis Ray Perez, was the last person believed to have seen Killgore and is a person of interest in the case. Perez was arrested after sheriff’s deputies spotted an assault rifle that had been reported stolen, and is being held on bail for that offense. Authorities say that Perez, whose motives are equally unclear, was not cooperative when asked about Killgore, according to the Los Angeles Times . “The case remains under review for potential additional charges,” a spokesman for San Diego District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis tells the newspaper. Killgore’s husband, meanwhile, received an emergency leave arranged by the Red Cross and is headed back to San Diego. Stay tuned.
Pakistani model- actress Veena Malik said recently that she would be willing to pose nude in Playboy for $1 million, enraging more than a few Muslim extremists. Ones already displeased with her topless FHM shoot (below) no less. “I’d think about it. Why would I say no? It’s a great opportunity. I’d definitely go for it,” she told the UK’s Mirror , despite the controversy she created and the potentially dangerous enemies she made by appearing nude for FHM. Veena Malik has seen many Pakistanis call for her citizenship to be revoked, and worse yet, Lashkar-e-Taiba, the Pakistani militant group behind the brutal 2008 attack on Mumbai, India, made it known they were not happy with her. “She has made fun of all Muslim women and brought shame to the entire nation. Veena Malik will be dealt with accordingly on her return to Pakistan,” the group said. Dealt with? Really, extremists? We’d “handle” her a little differently, to be sure. After receiving death threats, Malik scared fans and friends when she briefly went missing last year while filming a movie, but later said she was just “resting.” What do you think?
