‘Lost’ Fans Divided Over Series Finale

‘Lost’ fanatics in New York are split between ‘fantastic’ and ‘not satisfied.’ By Josh Wigler The cast of “Lost” Photo: ABC NEW YORK — If “Lost” fans thought “Across the Sea” was a controversial episode, they had no idea what they were in store for with “The End.” Sunday night’s series finale has proven one of the most divisive endings in recent television history, thanks to the episode’s final revelation: Every single character that ever passed away ultimately wound up in an afterlife of sorts known throughout the season as the sideways reality where, after reuniting with one another, they collectively moved onto another unexplained plane of existence. It was an ending that moved many fans to tears and one that left other viewers cursing at their sets. Certainly, “Lost” devotees are making their opinions known. To learn more, MTV News hit the streets of New York to hear a wide range of reactions to the “Lost” finale . “I thought the ‘Lost’ finale was fantastic,” said a clearly enthusiastic Mike Cayhurst,. “It was beautiful. It wrapped everything up for the characters. I think we can go back and watch the whole thing now in the way the writers always wanted us to.” Derek Hagerty, another happy camper, declared: “I thought the ‘Lost’ finale was a really good wrap-up to one of the best shows that’s been on TV in a while!” Not everyone was as optimistic, however, as Vincent Perissi put it: “I really wasn’t satisfied with it. I thought it left a lot of unanswered questions.” “It left as many questions as it probably answered,” Jenny Hank agreed. But for those who were disappointed by a lack of answers in the “Lost” finale, Megan Betts offered a possible explanation of her own: “I think that if you went on wanting to get answers to every question, you clearly haven’t been a fan of the show for the past six or seven years.” What did you think of the finale? Vote in our “Lost” poll , and let us know what you thought in the comments below! Glee Gets a Third Season

Just how confident is Fox in the staying power of Glee as a cultural phenomenon? The network has already renewed the series for a third season, despite the fact that it hasn’t even finished its first season. Says Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly: “Everything about Glee — from the concept to the characters to the marketing — has been innovative and risky, but with [series creator] Ryan Murphy tapping into the zeitgeist, the risk has paid off with this truly remarkable series. Glee has one of the most active, devoted fan bases I’ve ever seen, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to give Gleeks a third season of their favorite show.” Maybe there is another Lost after all. Gemma Arterton ‘Not Even Close’ as Megan Fox’s Transformers 3 Heir?

The general rule of thumb on public message boards is to take seemingly official disclosures with a grapefruit-sized grain of salt. So: Here’s your salt, and now here are a few teasing head-ups about Megan Fox’s Transformers 3 replacement from a Michael Bay associate who has no reason to lie.

Martin Starr on His Failed Barista Career, Orgies and the Future of Party Down

Like the characters of Party Down — actors, comedians and writers catering their way toward impossible dreams — Rob Thomas’ premium cable comedy, now in its sophomore season, can never quite catch a break. Although the show is beloved by its fans, the Starz sleeper has been leaking cast members ever since Jane Lynch departed the premium cabler for Glee . Since then, Adam Scott signed onto Parks and Recreation , Lizzy Caplan filmed a pilot for CBS , and Ryan Hansen shot a pilot for NBC, which was officially picked up this week. And even though Party Down ‘s ratings more than doubled this season, the show is still watched by less than 300,000 people. In hopes that tonight’s episode, “Steve Guttenberg’s Birthday,” could be the installment that reverses Party Down ‘s fortune, Martin Starr phoned Movieline to discuss just how the Cocoon actor was cast, Party Down ‘s tragic undertone and how little Starr actually relates to his character.

‘Harry Potter’ Star Tom Felton Explains How Actors Will Age In ‘Deathly Hallows’

‘I’ve been having some aging training,’ Felton says of film’s epilogue. By Eric Ditzian Tom Felton Photo: Mike Marsland/WireImage We’ve been openly speculating about it for far too long: How will the minds behind “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” shoot the story’s epilogue, which picks up almost two decades in the future? Would director David Yates and his team hire older actors to stand in for Daniel Radcliffe and the rest of the cast or would he employ special effects to age the familiar “Potter” faces? Now we know for sure. Speaking with MTV News, co-star Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) revealed that he and the rest of the cast will play older versions of their characters. What’s more — achieving those looks will require a mix of prosthetics and CGI technology. “For nearly two months, we’ve all been doing prosthetic tests and all sorts of preparation for the epilogue,” Felton said. “I’ve been having some aging training. You’ve got to walk differently. There’s a slump in your walk.” Those tests must have been successful because a schedule to shoot the scene has already been set. “It’s going to be the last big thing that we do. It’s going to be on location,” he explained, going on to say that it should take three days of filming to complete. Until then, he’s been busy practicing how to play a character on the verge of turning 40. So how exactly does one train to be old? “It’s bizarre,” Felton laughed. “We have a lovely guy who comes in. It was a little weird the first time — imagine you’ve got weights on your arms! There have been a number of times where I nearly laughed and I had to hold it in.” Felton should finally wrap up his decade-long commitment to the franchise in June, about six months before the November release date of the first part of “Deathly Hallows.” And while a bit of sadness has crept into the proceedings at the thought of leaving the series behind, he’s eagerly anticipating the chance to film the epilogue at long last and thankful that he — and not an older actor — will be in front of the camera when it all goes down. “We’re probably at the most exciting bit,” he said. “Certainly the part I’ve been most looking forward to. It’s going to be very exciting.” Did the “Deathly Hallows” director make the right call? Tell us in the comments! Check out everything we’ve got on “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1. Spartacus Starz Prequel Coming

Starz has announced the start of production on the six-part prequel to Spartacus: Blood and Sand , which will air in January 2011. The miniseries will have a brief appearance from Andy Whitfield, who plays Spartacus and is still recovering from Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, but it will focus mainly on the characters played by Lucy Lawless and John Hannah. This is refreshing for two reasons: 1) I love Lucy Lawless . 2) That is all.

5 Potential Explanations for that Bizarre Simpsons/Ke$ha Mash-Up Last Night

1. When making the decision to dump your iconic opening credit sequence for the first time in twenty years, why wouldn’t you do it by having your characters lip-sync to “TiK ToK” by Ke$ha? 2. The long animation-to-airtime delay with The Simpsons meant producers had to incorrectly gamble that “Tik Tok” would become our new “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)” by Beyonce, and not our new “Here Comes the Hotstepper” by Ini Kamoze.

REVIEW: Strong Performances, Superb Direction Lift Please Give

Nicole Holofcener has made only four movies in the course of her approximate 15-year directing career, but that could be because each movie is really two in one: There’s the picture right in front of you, the one you actually watch, which can often feel like a clutch of orphan vignettes wandering around in search of some organizing principle. And then there’s the way that shambling mosaic reforms itself in your mind minutes, hours or days afterward. You think you’ve buttoned up the characters’ lives and laid them to rest, only to find yourself making unbidden, random observations about them as you’re fixing a sandwich or flossing your teeth: Why did that character talk to her mother that way, and why did her mother let her? That girl was so lovely — why were her social skills so lame? Two hundred dollars for a pair of jeans? That’s nuts! Holofcener writes, and helps to shape on-screen, characters we often don’t even like, and what do we do? We invite them home with us. Talk about a soft touch.

Comedy Central Bans South Park Episode?

For anyone who missed the newest South Park episode on TV, they are surprised to find out that they can't watch the episode online. If you try to watch the episode “201” you instead see the message above saying Comedy Central has denied approval to stream the original version of the show and had also placed numerous audio bleeps throughout the episode. The censorship is due to the uproar of death threats towards Matt Stone and Trey Parker (the creators of South Park) after an last week's episode included an image of the Prophet Muhammad disguised in a bear suit, even though they didn't actually show an image of the Prophet Mohammed. The threats warn Matt and Trey that they risk violent retribution. In “201” it was reveled that Muhammad wasn't in the bear suit, Santa Claus was in it. http://current.com/news/92387879_death-threats-for-south-park-creators-after-muh… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZbtgjx9xE0 In the episode, not only was the image of Muhammad censored, but so was the name of Muhammad. Every time someone said Muhammad, they were bleeped. Also censored was the 'lesson speech' that Kyle and/or Stan gives at the end of almost every episode about what the kids has learned during the episode. There was at least 30 seconds of audio that was bleeped out between the characters Stan, Santa Clus, and Jesus Christ. I watched this episode on television and I thought the censorship was apart of the joke, but now it looks like it wasn't a joke. This isn't the first depiction of Muhammad that South Park has done. There have been at least two prior depictions of Muhammad on South Park — one in 2001, and another in 2006 that was also censored, but can be found online. Here's another: http://current.com/entertainment/comedy/92391949_south-park-has-shown-an-image-o… If you want to see an image of the Prophet Muhammad on South Park, you can watch the “Super Best Friends” episode here: http://www.southparkstudios.com/episodes/103940/ More on this story: http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5ixtNaqRpSqti8gDHGSyN8lXBhQjAD9… added by: Future_America
