SMFH…. Mistrial Declared In Walter Scott Case The South Carolina officer who gunned down Walter Scott as he ran away has escaped a conviction. A jury decided that they couldn’t unanimously convict former officer Michael Slager who was seen on tape shooting Scott in the back. A single juror caused the mistrial when he told the Judge and the prosecution that “I still cannot without a reasonable doubt convict the defendant. I cannot and will not change my mind.” According to ABC News , the jury was also allowed to consider a voluntary manslaughter charge but failed to convict on that charge as well.
