Kris Humphries to Kim Kardashian: Return the Wedding Gifts!

Kim Kardashian has turned the wedding gifts presented to her and Kris Humphries into a $200,000 check for the Dream Foundation , actually donating twice the amount of these items’ value to that helpful organization. Kase klosed, right? A gesture that even Kim’s harshest kritics (hi there!) kannot find fault with, right? Wrong. Humphries is reportedly steamed over the act, acknowledging the charity donation is nice and all – but believing the gifts should be returned as well because they were for a fraudulent wedding, sources tell Us Weekly . Kim Kardashian Wedding Sneak Peek Moreover, an insider tells the tabloid that Kim’s decision may have even crossed legal lines. “By court order, they are not supposed to do anything at the moment until the marriage is dissolved completely and they both decide how everything will end up,” says the source, adding that Kris is not in possession of any wedding presents. “She is violating court order by saying she is not returning them.” What do you think Kim should do with the gifts?

‘Safe House’ Rules Holiday Weekend Box Office

Denzel Washington’s latest ekes out a win over ‘Ghost Rider’ sequel and ‘The Vow.’ By Ryan J. Downey Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds in “Safe House” Photo: Universal Pictures Denzel Washington topped the box office over the holiday weekend as a comic book sequel flamed out. Two holdovers from last week, “Safe House” and “The Vow,” were neck and neck for the top spot during the four-day Presidents’ Day weekend and helped push box-office receipts to 11 percent over the same period last year. Washington’s “Safe House” was #1, with a four-day total of $28.4 million. “The Vow” followed just behind with $26.6 million, according to studio estimates. “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” was #3 with $26.4 million thanks to a very strong Monday. “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance” opened at #4 with $25.7 million, followed by the debut of the Reese Witherspoon-starring “This Means War” at #5 with $20.4 million. “Safe House” has made $82.6 million thus far, making it the second-best 10-day run for Washington, just behind “American Gangster.” The drama looks likely to pass the $100 million mark, which will make it the fourth movie in the 57-year-old actor’s career to do so. “The Vow” has earned $88.5 million thus far, which means it is now the highest-grossing movie ever for the Sony/ Screen Gems brand. The second “Ghost Rider” film, based on the Marvel Comics antihero, opened with less than half of the 2007 original’s $45.4 million debut. Nicolas Cage reprises the role of Johnny Blaze in “Spirit of Vengeance,” which, despite featuring a darker take on the supernatural motorcycle rider (courtesy of the directing duo behind “Crank”), suffered even worse reviews than its predecessor. At press time, “Ghost Rider” sat at 27 percent on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer , which averages reviews from critics, while the sequel sat at 15 percent. The weekend’s other new wide release, “The Secret World of Arrietty,” was #9 on the box-office chart with $8.1 million. The debut for the animated film, which features English-speaking actors recording new performances in the Japanese film, met with Disney’s reported expectations. Similarly, the romance-meets-action of “This Means War” wasn’t far off from the debuts of similar fare like “Knight & Day,” “The Tourist” or “Killers,” all of which had mostly negative reviews and opened between $15 and $20 million. “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menance” in 3-D suffered a bigger second-week decline than the similar 3-D re-release of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast,” but still added enough to the prequel’s all-time box-office total to push it past the original “Star Wars” to become the fourth-highest-grossing film of all time. “Phantom Menace” made $10.2 million over the four-day weekend for a domestic theater total of $36 million for the 3-D version. Two smaller but critically acclaimed pictures continued to benefit from awards season momentum over the weekend. The latest picture from Alexander Payne (“Sideways”), “The Descendants,” starring George Clooney, passed the $75 million mark, while silent film “The Artist” passed $25 million. Both movies are up for Best Picture at this year’s Academy Awards , among other nominations. ‘Glee’ Cast Won’t Tour This Summer

Cast may instead put on a charity concert later this year to support its Give a Note campaign. By Jocelyn Vena Darren Criss in “Glee” Photo: FOX After two successful runs in the past, “Glee” won’t hit the road this summer. Despite earlier reports that the show would kick off another tour this year, a rep tells The Hollywood Reporter , “We currently have no plans of touring the cast this summer.” However, there are plans to hold a charity concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles later this year. Proceeds from the show would benefit the “Glee” Give a Note campaign, which supports music education programs in schools. Sources told Billboard.com that dates have already been discussed, but the show or shows are only in the planning stages. September seems to be the target date for the charity concert. Although a concert tour had been discussed, the focus now seems to be on the charity gig. “We have been talking about continuing our work on a next phase of ‘Glee’ Give a Note,” said Jane Balek, Give a Note’s COO and assistant executive director of the National Association for Music Education. “But no definite projects were discussed.” She added that “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy and Fox are “truly supportive of the mission of NAfME and its Give a Note Foundation.” Last year’s tour was later made into a 3-D film , “Glee: The 3D Concert Movie.” The film opened last August, and despite the show’s TV success, it failed to ignite the box office, profiting only $5.7 million in its opening weekend and landing at #11 that week. More Money, More Problems: Is Jay-Z Stingy With His Charity Money?!

Does Daddy Hov need to be a little bit more charitable? Jay-Z calls himself the best rapper alive, and he’s made a cool half billion dollars off his talent — but when it comes to giving money to the charity he founded, he’s recently been more of a nickel-and-dime kind of guy. The hip-hop artist gave just $6,431 to his own charity in 2010, a year in which he earned an estimated $63 million, according to tax records for the Shawn Carter Scholarship Fund examined by The Daily. His superstar wife, Beyoncé, made in the neighborhood of $87 million, according to a Forbes estimate — yet she didn’t give her husband’s foundation a dime. But the charity is hardly an afterthought for the rapper, formerly known as Shawn Carter. He is scheduled to perform the first of two benefit concerts at Carnegie Hall in New York City tonight, splitting the proceeds between his charity and the United Way of New York. Tickets range from $150 to $15,000. Jay-Z is rapping for free, yet it remains to be seen how many crispy Benjamins he’ll personally contribute. While Jay may not have donated his own money, he just finished a freaking show at Carnegie Hall! These people need to hop off his sack and his wallet. Maybe he should get his Illuminati friends to get these busters out of his pockets. Source More On Bossip! ‘Twilight: The Musical’ Vamps In New York

Harry, Ron and Hermione make ‘Twilight’ debut in the off-Broadway parody. By Amy Wilkinson The cast of “Twilight: The Musical” Photo: Dreamcatcher Entertainment NEW YORK — When “Dreamgirls” helmer Bill Condon took over direction of “The Twilight Saga,” more than a few cheeky journalists wondered if he’d treat fans to a bloodsucking song-and-dance extravaganza. Alas, vogueing Volturi weren’t meant to be — at least on the big screen. They have, however, found a temporary home on the New York City stage in the form of ” Twilight: The Musical .” The off-Broadway parody production premiered Monday night at the New World Stages, raising money for the charity Blessings in a Backpack. Written by Ashley Griffin and directed by Gabriel Barre, “Twilight: The Musical” is, for now, staged as a concert reading, meaning that the actors hold scripts throughout the show. But the cheat sheets did little to diminish the enthusiasm of the oft-hilarious production. A group of eight actors play more than 30 roles, with some pulling quadruple and even quintuple duty (such as standouts Lauren Lopez and Jenna Leigh Green). With her bobbing ponytail, zip-up hoodie, skinny jeans and sullen expression, Meghann Fahy (“Next to Normal”) is a dead ringer for Bella Swan (or, at the very least, Kristen Stewart’s portrayal of Bella Swan), while “Wicked” actor Colin Hanlon looks perfectly pained as Edward Cullen. Jared Zirilli (“Wicked”) spends the entire second act shirtless, portraying Jacob with the kind of earnestness that’s made Taylor Lautner the object of many a teen’s fever dreams. The show opens much as the “Twilight” movie does, with Bella’s monologue about her impending death followed by the cafeteria scene and the upbeat track “Looking for Something.” (Sample lyrics: “I think I see a Fork stuck in my road,” “We’re standing on the twilight of something good.”) The first act hems closely with its source material, including all the requisite scenes: Edward’s biology class freak-out, Bella’s car accident and the bookstore gang-up. Much of the dialogue comes straight from screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg’s script, too, albeit with much-welcomed embellishments. (Charlie to Bella: “I know it’s awkward starting in the middle of a semester, so I got you a truck!”) But things take a canon-twisting turn about two-thirds of the way through the first act when Hermione, Ron and Harry show up. Yes, someone got “Harry Potter” in our “Twilight.” Instead of Victoria, James and Laurent, Hogwarts’ finest play the villains here. The meta levels reach 11 when the wizards mistakes Edward for Cedric Diggory. And so it is that Ron tracks Bella down in her old ballet studio and is done in by the Cullen coven, leaving Hermione to avenge the death of her beloved. The first act closes on Bella’s birthday — the surprisingly bloody scene from “New Moon.” The second act opens with a freshly shorn Jacob (his wig somehow even mangier than Lautner’s) singing with his pack. From there, the production speeds through the last three books of Meyer’s series, compressing much of the story in favor of cramming it all in. Despite the odd pacing, the production sang thanks to details only a true fanatic could relish. Edward’s sparkling-in-the-sun effect is achieved with a glittery bodysuit hidden underneath the actor’s button-down like Superman’s spandex. The iconic apple from the book’s cover hangs limply (and obviously) from a springing wire gizmo as Edward tries to suavely hand it to Bella. Not to mention the actors muster plenty of fourth-wall-breaking furtive glances, letting the audience know they are in on the joke. But the tongue-in-cheek vibe is abandoned late in the second act for a sobering bit of moralizing from Harry, who comes to Bella in a dream sequence asking if it was all worth it. “You were willing to sacrifice everything to get a boyfriend,” he says. “In the end, you destroyed yourself.” Point taken, Harry Potter. But what a buzzkill. If you weren’t able to make the one-night-only charity benefit, don’t fret: Work is being done to bring the production to the New York stage for good.
