Donald Glover Creating “Deadpool” Series FX really knows what they have with Childish Gambino Donald Glover. After the rapper/actor/singer/screenwriter brought FX ratings success and industry awards with his hit show “Atlanta,” the network is tapping his midas touch to help bring a popular Marvel character to life on the small screen. Daily Mail reports that Donald is teaming up with his brother and co-writer Stephen to create a ten-episode animated series about the misadventures of foul-mouthed superhero Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool. No word yet on if Donald, who is a self-proclaimed black nerd/blerd and recently voiced Miles Mirales/Spider-Man in the ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’ television show, will also voice Deadpool in the series. FX president Nick Grad is particularly happy to team up with Gambino again, saying: “Donald Glover is an incredibly gifted and versatile artist who’ll bring the untitled Marvel’s Deadpool series to life with the same intense, singular vision as his breakout hit Atlanta.” Nice! Steve Harvey Tells Show Staff Not To Approach Him For Any Reason Looks like Steve Harvey was NOT feeling speaking to his staff while filming his last season of The Steve Harvey Show in Chicago. The show is set to start filming in LA this fall and the last day of Chi-town production goes down tomorrow. But an e-mail sent at the beginning of the season surfaced today, wherein he tells his staff to back off. According to Chicago media blogger Robert Feder who managed to get his hands on a copy of the e-mail, Steve allegedly told his entire staff to pretty much stay away from him and not tell or ask him a damn thing when they see him around the studio. He stressed that he needs his time to himself throughout the day, so without an appointment, he would not be speaking with any staff members about anything. Feder posted the e-mail to his site: TV production, especially when it comes to shows with live audiences and rotating guests, often entails a lot of last-minute changes and bytes of new info popping up here and there. It seems kind of outlandish to require anyone who might have anything to say to you to go through the process of scheduling a whole meeting. It’s Sexual Assault Awareness Month and we were definitely taken aback after reading about Zeke Thomas (real name Josh) who is a DJ and musician and also happens to be the son of Detroit Pistons legend Isaiah Thomas. Thomas deserves to be applauded for his bravery after coming forward to share his rape survival story. He was a guest on “Good Morning America” this week and is also appearing in a sexual assault prevention PSA. I’ve met great people on Grindr, I’ve had sex with great people on Grindr. I can’t blame an app. But you don’t know sh** about people you meet on it.” In any case, they’d not hooked up right away. “He seemed like a great guy. We hung out at the recording studio. And then a couple of days later he said, let’s go to Boys Town,” the gayborhood in Chicago, “for a drink.” He felt safe there: He’d had DJ gigs there. He knew bartenders. But by the time he realized something was wrong it was too late. “All I remember is … getting in the cab. I know that I got drugged. I knew probably the moment that it happened because something didn’t taste right. But I didn’t think about it. I just didn’t think about it.” The next thing he knew it was the next morning. “It was literally like with Bill Cosby. When those women were like: ‘I woke up and he was fixing me breakfast or whatever.’” He pauses for a while, and then continues, quietly. “I woke up and he was handing me a glass of water and saying, ‘That was great let’s hang out again.’” He noticed that his dog was shut outside on his balcony, barking. And the guy leaves. Insane. WHY are some people so evil? We all deserve to have a CHOICE about who we allow access to our bodies. I’m bleeding,” Thomas recalls. “And I’m just like — terrified. I can’t move. I didn’t move from my apartment for two days. I didn’t move. I didn’t talk to anybody. I froze.” When he went to find the guy on Grindr, he either had blocked him or removed himself from the app. Just pure evil. We really wish Thomas HAD pressed charges, because the person who did that to him deserves to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. As you heard in the interview with Robin Roberts, the assault sent DJ Zeke into a downward spiral of drug abuse and emotional distress (both understandable). The fact that this was his second time he had been sexually assaulted makes the situation even more upsetting. This man really went THROUGH it. There are so many other people out there suffering like this, these stories HAVE to be told. What more do you think we need to do as a community to end the stigma against victims, especially male ones?
Jenelle Evans has quite the story to tell. Because hey, you know the story of United Airlines and David Dao ? David is a doctor, and he boarded a flight on United Airlines from Chicago to Louisville earlier this week. Everyone hopped on the plane before it was announced that the flight was overbooked, and five passengers would have to leave. After no one volunteered, five people were chosen at random, and while four of them left willingly, David, the fifth passenger, refused because, as a doctor, he has several appointments the next day and couldn’t reschedule his flight. United called the police, they violently removed David from the plane, and the story immediately went viral . It’s pretty much all anyone’s been able to talk about for the past several days. “OK,” you may be thinking, “but what does any of this have to do with Jenelle Evans, everyone’s favorite Teen Mom trainwreck?” And the answer, friends, is that is has everything to do with Jenelle. See, Jenelle and her boyfriend, David Eason, went on yet another vacation this week. They left their new baby , Ensley, and Jenelle’s two-year-old son Kaiser behind so they could take the oldest kids, Jace and David’s daughter Maryssa, to an Ariana Grande concert. They flew American Airlines, and we know that because on April 13th, Jenelle tweeted the following message: “After letting the manager know at @AmericanAir I was rudely treated. Was assaulted at the airport. Tried to grab my phone out of my hands!” It’s hard to know exactly what she means here because Jenelle isn’t the best at communicating — was the phone thing the assault here? Was being “rudely treated” the assault? Was she actually assaulted? Considering her criminal record , you’d think she’d be a little clearer on this point. American Airlines responded to her tweet, telling her “Your comments concern us, Jenelle. Please DM us with your record locator and details.” We assume she did DM them, because we haven’t heard anything else about the situation, and she even deleted the original message. But someone did tell her “Sounds like you were on United Airlines” and she responded with “Lmao for real… people need to stop the madness!”, and that exchange is still up. OK, now look, we don’t want to say that Jenelle could be lying for attention … But her followers are more than willing to say so. When one of her less assuming fans told Jenelle to let everyone know how things turn out, another replied “What happened is that she lied. #BlackGirlMagic! Ariyana Davis Accepted Into 23 HBCUs A Chicago high schooler’s inspiring story is making national headlines. Ariyana Davis, of Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School, has been accepted into every one of the 24 colleges she applied to. Twenty-three of those schools were historically black colleges and universities including most recently Spelman College. The last school was Eastern Illinois University, a predominantly white institution. Looks like there's another achievement that needs to be celebrated because….
