Lady Gaga Cancels Tour Due to Hip Injury, Surgery

Lady Gaga has canceled the remainder of her Born This Way Ball tour, one day after announcing that she would postpone four shows due to a hip injury. Live Nation said in a release: “After additional tests this morning to review the severity of the issue, it has been determined that Lady Gaga has a labral tear of the right hip.” “She will need surgery to repair the problem, followed by strict down time to recover. This unfortunately, will force her to cancel the tour so she can heal.” Initially, shows set for today and Thursday in Chicago, Saturday in Detroit and Sunday in Hamilton, Canada, had been the only shows canceled. Mother Monster’s injury clearly became a bigger issue than before, however, and refunds will be available for tickets purchased as of Thursday. “I’ve been hiding a show injury and chronic pain for sometime now,over the past month it has worsened,” Lady Gaga tweeted. “I’ve been praying it would heal.” “I hid it from my staff, because I didn’t want to disappoint my amazing fans. However after last night’s performance I could not walk and still can’t.” “It will hopefully heal as soon as possible, I hate this.” “I hate this so much. I love you and I’m sorry.” We hate it too. Poor lil rich girl… Kristin Cavallari is singing sob stories about how MTV made her out to be a bigger beyotch than she really was and how much motherhood has humbled her. Via Us Weekly reports : Kristin Cavallari insists she was never the bitchy, man-eating teenager MTV made her out to be. In an interview with The Chicago Sun-Times’ Splash magazine, the 25-year-old opens up about what really went on behind the scenes of the network’s megapopular reality shows Laguna Beach and The Hills. “The producers were really crappy to me,” Cavallari says of her two-season stint on Laguna Beach, in which she and high school nemesis Lauren Conrad famously vied for classmate Stephen Colletti’s affection from 2004 to 2006. “I felt like everybody was against me and manipulating me, and that forced me to be a beyotch.” Upon graduation, Cavallari relocated to L.A. so “people could forget about Kristin from Laguna Beach,” she explained. Despite her best efforts, “I was known as the bad girl. And once you have that image, it’s so hard to change it.” While Laguna Beach oftentimes featured storylines set up by producers, Cavallari says The Hills was almost entirely fake. “They did everything short of handing us a script,” Cavallari claims. “I had two lives: my Hills life and my real life.” “l decided to have fun with it this time,” she added of The Hills, which she joined midway through season 5 in 2005, following the departure of protagonist Conrad. “I embraced it, and played a caricature of myself.” Though she frequently feuded on-air with her Hills costars Audrina Patridge and Stephanie Pratt, Cavallari has since mended fences. “People are always surprised by how nice I am in real life,” the 5-foot-6 blonde said. These days, Cavallari’s life is notably less dramatic. She lives in Winnetka, Illinois, with her fiance, Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, and their 6-month-old baby boy. “Our world revolves around Camden,” she said of her son. “I’m a suburbanite now!” “I’ve always wanted to be a mom,” Cavallari added. “I’ve learned that it means I have to be totally selfless. But it’s the most rewarding thing in the world.” Tough life. This girl has had it so rough. She’s been rich and famous since high school but she still finds a way to complain about it. SMH. Chicago is becoming Murder Capital USA 2 Suspects In Custody For Shooting Of Hadiya Pendleton Via The Grio reports: Two men were taken into custody Sunday as “persons of interest” in the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old Chicago girl , a Chicago police spokeswoman said. Chicago Police Department spokeswoman Melissa Stratton said the two men, ages 18 and 20, were taken into custody early Sunday morning and are being questioned. She said no charges have been filed. The development comes one day after Hadiya Pendleton’s funeral, which was attended by first lady Michelle Obama and several other dignitaries. Pendleton was shot to death Jan. 29 in a park that is about a mile from President Barack Obama’s home on the city’s South Side. Police have said Pendleton was an innocent victim in a gang-related shooting. Just days before her death, the band majorette was among the performers during events for Obama’s inauguration. Her slaying brought new attention to Chicago’s homicide rate, and came in a January that was the city’s deadliest in a decade. In 2012, Chicago recorded 506 homicides. Among the other dignitaries at Saturday’s funeral were Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn, U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan, the Rev. Jesse Jackson and U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush. Such a beautiful young lady. Condolences to her family, may they find some solace in the loveliness she brought to them and others in her short life. Rest In Peace to a young life ended entirely too soon. When will the senseless violence end???

My name is Anna, and I just found this site now, so I’m sharing my Bieber Experience that happened on May 4, 2010. I’m from Chicago, and the previous night I was sitting in my room when a notification popped up that Justin had tweeted “Oprah tomorrow.” As I read this, I had a flashback to the previous year, when I had walked past HARPO studios and a worker had kindly greeted my sister and I, telling us that if we had come just a few minutes early, we could have gotten into the show on standby. With this flashback came a plan: I begged my parents to let me skip school and go to try and get tickets on standby, and finally, my dad gave in. The following morning, we drove downtown and there was already a massive line to get inside. Everyone there had tickets, and a worker explained that they were already overcapacity and no one on stand-by was going to be let in. I was extremely disappointed, and my dad gave me the “I told you so” face. The woman in line in front of me was in the same situation, and she came up with the idea to go wait outside the garage to catch a glimpse of him in his car, so we did . Over the next 2 hours, about 5 others came. I was starting to loose hope that maybe Justin would go through a different entrance, when a couple security guards came out and made us step aside. A black limo-bus pulled up and as I glanced through the semi-tinted window, I saw a boy flip his hair. Immediately I knew it was him. The car was going to go into the garage, but Justin made the decision to step out. He was so genuine and nice, taking pictures with every single person there and signing autographs for everyone. He even answered some questions like “What song are you gonna sing?” After a couple minutes, he told us he had to go and I screamed, “Can I please have a hug?!” Justin hugged me as Kenny pulled him away and I swear I will never forget that moment. He walked in and turned around to flash one last peace sign. He didn’t have to get out of the car. He didn’t have to talk to us or take pictures. He didn’t even have to look at us. But he chose to take a minute to make our day, to make us cry and laugh, because that’s just how amazing he is. He may have been the target of a drive-by shooting attempt, but rapper Rick Ross is laughing in the face of mortal danger these days, literally. Stepping out in L.A. Thursday with a big smile on his face and a fat cigar in his mouth, he couldn’t look less like a guy worried about being offed. The Rick Ross shooting attempt in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., caused him to crash his car into a building January 28, but he was unharmed, and unfazed. It’s pretty clear that someone has it out for him – a Chicago gang even made a death threat late last year – but he’s just layin’ back and doin’ his thing. A little too casual, 50 Cent and other conspiracy theorists might say. Fiddy’s gone on record alleging that Ross may have staged it all. Was it a hoax? Maybe. No holes in the car. Or Rick. No! Three people from Chicago felt no shame in exploiting some homeless women for their financial benefits and now it’s their turn to pay up via the justice system. In what has been described as “A sex trafficking house of horrors” by Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez, 52-year-old Keith Williams and two of his associates, cousins Roman Kurek, 49, and Sylvia Topolewski, 37, were accused Friday of recruiting young homeless women and forcing them to perform sex acts for profit. Williams is charged with Involuntary Servitude, Trafficking in Persons. Kurek and Topolewski face the same charges, along with Promoting Prostitution (Kurek) and Prostitution (Topolewski). Alvarez said Williams, who went by the street name “Shampoo,” controlled as many as six women by locking them in his Schiller Park house and another home in Chicago and literally fed them heroin and crack on a silver platter. Victims who failed to turn over their money or angered Williams were beaten, starved and urinated on, Alvarez said at a Friday news conference. Williams was being held on a $650,000 bond and Kurek and Topolewski were each being held on a $350,000 bond. Pimping in 2013 just isn’t the same… ILP

Son Of Former L.A. Lakers Player Nick Van Exel Convicted Of Murder The 22-year-old son of former famed L.A. Lakers baller Nick Van Exel has been convicted of murder and is set to be sentenced on Friday. The attorney for Van Exel’s son says the incident was an “accidental” shooting that took place while his client and the deceased were playing around with a loaded shotgun. via The Grio North Texas jury has found the 22-year-old son of former NBA player Nick Van Exelguilty of murder in the shooting death of a longtime friend. A Dallas County jury deliberated about 2½ hours before returning its guilty verdict Thursday against Nickey Maxwell Van Exel. Prosecutors had sought a capital murder conviction. They say Van Exel fatally shot Bradley Bassey Eyo in December 2010 and dumped his body at Lake Ray Hubbard on the eastern outskirts of Dallas. Van Exel’s attorney had said the two were playing with a shotgun at Van Exel’s Garland home, and that Van Exel didn’t know the gun was loaded. Reward For Info About Hadiya Pendleton’s Shooting Death Raised To $40,000 Via Chicago-Tribune As community members marched in memory of Hadiya Pendleton today, officials announced the reward for information in the slaying of the King College Prep sophomore has been increased to $40,000. Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy and other police officials announced the increased reward in advance of an anti-violence march in her honor that left from her high school, 4445 S. Drexel Blvd. Hadiya had just finished her final exams at King College Prep, and was hanging out with friends from the school’s volleyball team when she was gunned down Tuesday in Harsh Park, in the 4400 block of South Oakenwald Avenue. Thursday afternoon, police announced the reward for information leading to an arrest in the shooting had increased to $24,000, up from $11,000 announced Wednesday. By Friday night the reward was up to $40,000. Dozens of adults and children marched this afternoon from King Prep High School to Harsh Park, the scene of the shooting. They were escorted by at least six police vehicles as the crowd chanted, urging anyone with information about Pendleton’s slaying to come forward. “If you know who did this, turn them in!” shouted Melvin, a man who led the march but did not want to provide his last name out of fear of retaliation. “If you don’t support this, next it might be you!” Many people who knew Hadiya have told stories of her kindness and strength, none more telling than this one… Raven Barnes, 18, a King College Prep senior who was friends with Hadiya, said she “always had a smile on her face.” “I never thought it would happen to Hadiya because she’s one of the nicest people,” Barnes said. “She didn’t deserve it.” Hadiya recently broke up an “altercation” between Barnes and another girl, Barnes recalled. She said Hadiya convinced her to avoid the conflict and swear off fighting with other girls for good. “She just was a person who hated violence,” Barnes said. “She didn’t want any violence … ever. It’s just so sad that violence took her life.” Our hearts still hurt for Hadiya, her family, and the entire Chicago community that deals with these kinds of losses on a daily basis.
