Sad news today from Selena Gomez. A few weeks after announcing to the world that her mother was expecting a baby , the singer was forced to cancel a couple shows this weekend because, according to E! News sources, the child was lost to a miscarriage. Gomez was scheduled to perform this evening at the B96 Jingle Bash 2011 at the Allstate Arena outside of Chicago and also tomorrow at 106.1 KISS FM’s Jingle Bell Bash at the in Seattle. Her next live gig will likely take place on New Year’s Eve, when Selena takes part in MTV’s annual bash. This year’s event will be hosted by Demi Lovato and Tyler Posey. Damn, Sams!!! The guy who starred as troubled youth Thomas Sams in the 1989 classic “Lean On Me” was arrested in Arizona for allegedly buying 200 pounds of pot from an undercover cop this week. Jermaine “Huggy” Hopkins has been charged with two felony counts of possessing, transporting and trying to sell marijuana. According to police, the 38-year-old actor lives in North Carolina … but traveled to AZ to make the drug deal on Tuesday. Cops in Maricopa County say they set up the sting operation … and after Hopkins took possession of the dope, they pulled over his SUV and arrested him. Cops say they found $100k in cash in the ride. Officials later searched Hopkins’ Arizona apartment and claim they found an additional 100 pounds of weed. Police say Hopkins told them he got involved in the drug deal to provide a nice Christmas for his family. Hopkins is being held on $35,000 bond. If convicted, he faces up to 5 years in prison. You would think, for as much as you heard “Motivation” on the radio and in the club this year, that Kelly Rowland finally made it rain on them hoes with that last album. She didn’t. So far, “Here I Am” hasn’t even sold 200,000 copies. But in this week’s Jet Magazine, Kelly says she’s not even thinking about that. Or at least, that’s what she’d like us to believe. “I was very happy with the album, period. It was a long time coming and I’m proud that Motivation was nominated for a Grammy; it’s been a really great year,” she says after a brief pause. Her tone holds a mixture of slight annoyance, understandable frustration and reasonable divatude. Mmm hmmm… Poor precious baby. The good news is, Kelly’s not letting your lack of support deter her from her dreams. “I can do whatever I want,” she declares. “I don’t allow anyone to put me in a box. Almost four months after pleading guilty to having unlawful sex with a minor and being sentenced to less than a year in prison , Shane Sparks has written an open-letter to the world to let us all know he really wasn’t responsible for taking advantage of a 12-year-old. To the dance industry, peers and fans, “Within the last few years of my life I have encountered many difficulties, all while being unable to freely speak and share my side of the story. The truth of the matter is that when I was in my early twenties, over 17 years ago, I began seeing a young lady who I thought at the time was of age. She was an employee at (a well known Los Angeles) dance studio, where I was a dance instructor. My biggest regret and mistake was not making sure that she was over 18 when I began a physical relationship with her. This young lady’s mother was fully aware and knew that her daughter and I were seeing one another, and consented to the relationship, while leading me to believe that her daughter was older. Nevertheless, I apologize to her and her daughter for any harm I may have caused them. For a few years now, I’ve had to deal with the public humiliation and personal strife of being condemned by heinous and false accusations. The case is now over and I was eventually charged and convicted of one count of having sexual relations with a minor, and my punishment was to engage in counseling, which I have already began, and I may have to complete four months in a private jail facility. After my case was over, TMZ released an inaccurate story stating that there were six other ladies who had been assaulted by me which is completely false. Statements by my attorney and the prosecuting attorney from the District Attorney’s Office will confirm how false and misleading TMZ’s story was. I am disappointed and hurt that TMZ would report such a false story without first checking the facts, by contacting the District Attorney’s Office. Deputy District Attorney: Alison A.W. Meyers wrote a legal statement proving that I was cleared of TMZ’s accusations stating that other minors came forward as victims. “While the case was pending against Mr. Sparks, no other chargeable victims ever came forward to discuss with me any allegations of the defendant having (sexual encounters) with them when they were underage.” – DDA Alison A.W. Tim Tebow would not approve of this one bit. Parents and onlookers in Lakeville, Minn., were aghast after 52-year-old Steven Wilson was arrested and charged with fifth-degree domestic assault after he reportedly GRABBED HIS SON AND PUNCHED HIM in the face after a loss at basketball. Witnesses reported seeing Wilson and his eighth-grade son, whose name was not released, walking down the hall at Lakeville South (Minn.) High when the dad grabbed the child with one arm and began punching him in the face with the other. Nearby parents had to physically intervene before the altercation was broken up. After calling local police to the scene, Steven Wilson was arrested and spent the night in jail before posting $10,000 to get out without conditions. Wilson’s son didn’t require medical attention, fortunately. “This assault is an example of particularly disturbing adult behavior on so many different levels,” Lakeville Police Chief Tom Vomhoff told KARE-11. “Parents attending youth sports events have such a great opportunity to be a positive role model for kids, and that is clearly not what happened here.” It is unclear what specifically set him off, but parents attending the game told Fox 9 they hoped Wilson would be banned from games in the future. If charged, he faces a $3,000 fine and up to 90 days in jail. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty, of course, but with so many parents witnessing the altercation, it doesn’t look good for Wilson. “It breaks your heart,” onlooker Tara Falteysek told Fox 9. “I can’t imagine how that young boy feels, that dad would do that to him – and in front of friends.” Wilson is expected to be in court next month to face these charges.
