Sources say the Tom Cruise-Katie Holmes divorce is happening for precisely that reason, specifically her concern that Suri will be introduced to it. Their daughter is now six, the age where Scientology will begin to be a major part of her life, and Katie fears Suri will be dragged in too deep . Holmes has never fully committed to Scientology, TMZ reports, despite her ties with the church and more than five years of marriage to Tom. Many observers felt their marriage would never work for this reason; Katie respected Tom’s beliefs, but raising their child his way a different story. As she’s grown, the couple had been arguing over Suri with greater frequency, and Katie eventually filed for divorce to protect the little girl. A key detail in the Tom Cruise-Katie Holmes divorce filing was the location in which it was filed: The 33-year-old actress made if official in New York. She does not want Tom, 49, to control decisions relating to Suri’s religion, and feels N.Y. is far more likely to grant her request for sole custody. Unarmed Brooklyn Woman Killed By NYPD After Car Crash Shantel Davis was killed in Brooklyn by NYPD after crashing her car in Flatbush: “A Brooklyn detective shot and killed an unarmed woman in a stolen car after she blew through three red lights, hit a minivan and tried to escape by driving in reverse, police said. The incident unfolded about 5:40 p.m. in East Flatbush when two plainclothes narcotics cops spotted Shantel Davis, 23, at the wheel of a gray Toyota Camry she allegedly carjacked at gunpoint on June 5. Davis — who had eight arrests on her rap sheet, sources said — ran a series of red lights along Church Ave. and crossed a double yellow line to pass cars at E. 38th St., where she smacked into the minivan, NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said. As the two cops approached the Camry, they saw Davis slide over to the passenger side, where the seat had been stripped out, and try to open the door. One officer, who has been on the force six years, got hit by the door and was thrown backward, Browne said. Davis then got back in the driver’s seat, put the car in reverse and hit the gas, police said. Simultaneously, another cop, identifed by sources as Detective Phillip Atkins, 44, was entering the driver’s side of the Camry, with his gun in hand. “He’s attempting with the other hand to shift the gear into park,” Browne said. “When she’s hitting the gas, a single round was discharged from his firearm, striking the woman in the chest.” Browne said it was too soon to say whether the detective, who has 12 years on the force, meant to pull the trigger or if it was an accident. Witnesses described a scene of chaos before the shooting. Dave McKenzie said he heard the cops yelling: “Get out! Get out!” “They try to pull her out of the car, and she fights them,” McKenzie said, recalling the woman screaming, “Let me go! Let me go!” “ ‘I don’t want to be killed! Don’t kill me!’ ” the woman yelled, McKenzie added. Lorraine Preddie, 61, said that after she heard the crash, she saw the detective in a blue NYPD T- shirt with a shield around his neck. “The next thing I saw was the police officer took his gun out and fired a shot,” she said. Witnesses said it was instantly clear the woman was gravely wounded.“She was bleeding, and then she just dropped. She fell on the floor facedown. She was shaking and the blood was just going out of her,” said one woman who works at a nearby laundermat. “She was in the street,” Preddie said. “They started giving her chest compressions and took her in the ambulance.” Davis died at Kings County Hospital. Councilman Jumaane Williams broke the news to her family. Police said the owner of the Camry confirmed that Davis swiped the vehicle. Davis, who was identified by family members, was due in court Friday on a kidnapping and attempted murder case stemming from a May 2011 attack. “This is like a bad dream,” said cousin Stephanie Gilmer, 40, who called Davis a “sweetie pie.” “She was only 23. She had her whole life in front of her.” Despite Davis’ criminal record, Assemblyman Nick Perry said he was concerned about the circumstances of her death “because the investigation I have seems to suggest this woman was not a threat.” Mike Palladino, head of NYPD detectives union, backed Atkins, who had never fired his gun in the line of duty. “Based on the facts and the circumstances, I’m confident that our detective’s actions were appropriate and justified,” Palladino said. “ Turn the page for the video

Creflo Dollar, Atlanta-Based Televangelist, Arrested for Fight with Daughter

Creflo Dollar, the Megachurch pastor and televangelist who has faced criticism over the years for his flamboyant lifestyle, was arrested today after allegedly injuring his 15-year old daughter in a fight. Creflo Dollar Sermon Authorities from the Fayette County Sheriff’s department responded to a call of domestic violence at approximately 1 a.m., according to investigator Brent Rowan, who added that the religious man and his daughter were arguing over whether the latter could go to a party when Dollar “got physical” with her, resulting in “superficial injuries” on the teenager. Dollar – faces misdemeanor counts of simple battery and cruelty to children – left jail this morning on bail and said in a statement: “As a father I love my children and I always have their best interest at heart at all times, and I would never use my hand to ever cause bodily harm to my children. The facts in this case will be handled privately to further protect my children. My family thanks you for your prayers and continued support.” Dollar is the pastor for World Changers Church International in the Atlanta suburb of College Park and preaches inside of an 8,500-seat sanctuary called the World Dome. He has five children and has published over 30 books. He was investigated a few years ago for his use of church-owned luxuries such as airplanes homes and credit cards. Questions also arose in 1999 after 100 local police officers were given $1,000 each by Dollar, who did so, he said merely to acknowledge their community service. However, the move came just weeks after a pair of traffic tickets Dollar had received were downgraded to warnings.

Ashley Biden and Howard Krein: Married!

Ashley Biden, the daughter of U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, got married on Saturday to Philadelphia surgeon Howard Krein before more than 200 friends and family. The couple wed at the steepled St. Joseph on the Brandywine Roman Catholic Church, in Greenville, Delaware. It’s the same church where she was baptized. The ceremony combined the bride’s Catholic traditions and the groom’s Jewish ones. Afterward, the reception took place at the Biden family’s lakeside home in Wilmington, Del., for a reception and dinner served family-style in the backyard. The Vice President and his wife, Jill Biden, re-sodded the property and planted special fast-growing vines up the latticework around the party tent. Joe Biden escorted the bride , who wore Vera Wang, down the aisle and had prepared to be emotional about giving away the youngest of his three children. “I kept telling Ash, we’ve got to open up the church and practice walking up and down the aisle so I can handle it,” the V.P. said last week. He reminisced about the last time he saw Ashley Biden in a veil – at her First Communion. “I think to myself, aw, God, my little girl! This can’t have passed so quick.” Krein, 45, surprised his bride Biden, 30, on Saturday with their honeymoon destination, a family source said. They will make their home in Philadelphia. Ashley is a Delaware state social worker who works with troubled children. She met Howard in 2010, after meeting through Beau Biden, her older brother. Howard Krein proposed last October, at sunset on a cliff in Big Sur, Calif. – but not before getting “Pop’s” permission first, said the elder Biden. ” This is the right guy,” the V.P. said. “And he’s getting a helluva woman.” And a helluva father-in-law. Jeremiah Wright Says Obamas Didn’t Go To Church Jeremiah Wright – Obama’s attention sloring former pastor – is back with more. This time, he’s unloading his thoughts on the Obamas. Sigh. He didn’t learn his lesson the first time? Anyway, here he goes. “Church is not their thing. It was never their thing,” Wright says of Barack and Michelle Obama. “She was not the kind of black woman whose momma made her go to church, made her go to Sunday school…so the church was not an integral part of their lives before they got married — after they got married.” But that’s not it. He went on to say more. Wright also says that Obama was selected before he was elected, and that’s why Wall Street got a break and why Obama stands behind AIPAC and calls himself a Zionist. “We didn’t have the money to select him”, says Wright. Regarding Obama’s evolution, Rev. Wright says Obama has become a politician, and no longer cares about the truth. During a conversation, Wright says Obama told him, ”You know what your problem is. You have to tell the truth.” Wright responded, “That’s a good problem to have.” “Politicians don’t have to tell the truth. Truth is what we say it is. Well, I somehow can’t live with that,” Wright told Klein. “That’s why I could never be a politician. I think that the transformed Barack has become a politician.” Wright goes on to say that another preacher also told him that the Hillary Clinton campaign was paying black preachers to attack him.
