Lyric McHenry: Did She Know She Was Pregnant?

As previously reported in terrible detail,  Lyric McHenry was found dead early Tuesday morning in New York City. The former E! reality star, who made appearances two years ago on the only season of EJNYC , was discovered around 5 a.m. — only wearing underwear and a pajama top. But that wasn’t all. Authorities have confirmed that a small ziplock bag of cocaine was also found on McHenry’s person, leading the police to presume that she died of a drug overdose. However, an investigation is open and more information will possibly be revealed in the coming days. Perhaps most shocking and disturbing of all? McHenry was 20 weeks pregnant at the time of her death. A multitude of social media images and videos from the night before her passing make it clear she was out partying, although we can’t confirm whether she was drinking or not. Then, of course, there’s the issue of that cocaine. This is all a preamble to the following question… Did Lyric McHenry know she was pregnant? One would assume so, based on how far along reports have claimed her to have been. But a friend named Etienne Maurice tells Radar Online that he was very close to Henry and he had no clue about the impending child. “Nobody knew,” says this pal. “I’m trying to figure out how. I’m completely blindsided.” Maurice goes on to say that he doesn’t believe McHenry was aware, either, emphasizing that she wasn’t showing a baby bump at all. (Women, of course, have a very distinct way of knowing whether or not they are pregnant aside from the size of their stomach.) McHenry, based on everything we’ve read so far, certainly wasn’t acting pregnant. But the sad truth is that some people do not treat their bodies well even when they are aware that a fetus is growing inside. Aside from the pregnancy issue, questions continue to swirl around the manner in which McHenry was found. Could she have been murdered? Did she overdose and then get dumped on the sidewalk? Maurice previously told Radar that McHenry left her friends on Monday night outside of a club and got into a car with someone none of them knew and cannot now identity. McHenry was a Stanford University graduate who interned on the Obama campaign as a teenager; hence the photograph above. Her father, Doug McHenry, who has produced films that include New Jack City, A Thin Line Between Love and Hate and the House Party franchise, issued a statement through his publicist on Wednesday describing his daughter as “a brilliant, creative and lovely young woman who shared a deep passion for writing, film, and a longstanding commitment to social justice.” And the family as a whole said the following yesterday evening: The McHenry Family deeply appreciates the many communications of support from Lyric McHenry’s many friends upon learning of her untimely death at approximately 6:00 AM the morning of August 14th, 2018. Despite the speculation in earlier reports, at this point in time the cause of Lyric’s death has yet to be determined. The lengthy statement concluded as follows: In contrast, what is factual and known is that Lyric who just turned 26 last week on August 6, was a brilliant, creative and lovely young woman who shared a deep passion for writing, film and a long-standing commitment to social justice. She was a Christian who grew up in Los Angeles and attended the Center for Early Education and graduated from the Marlborough School in Los Angeles. Lyric graduated from Stanford University in 2014 where she studied in Paris, France for a year and spoke fluent French… Lyric’s warmth, compassion and energy will be missed by many and the family would appreciate that all speculation surrounding the circumstances of death cease until the real facts are determined during the current investigation by the NYPD and the City of New York. The Funeral Service will be held in her hometown Los Angeles at a date to be determined. View Slideshow: The Most Shocking Reality Star Deaths: Gone, But Not Forgotten

This Alabama County Has Never Had An Integrated School Until Now

O ne county in Alabama was finally moving forward with stopping segregation in its schools. The first integrated school in Sumter County finally made its debut on Monday, ushering in a new era after a painful past. The University Charter School (UCS) opened its doors to serve students from kindergarten to eighth grade in the city of Livingston, AL.com reported. Both white and Black students — more than half of the 300-plus students were Black while a little less than a half were white — sat and learned in classrooms. UCS made history with having a better balance of a diverse student body. No other school in the county has even come close to UCS’ more equitable ratio of white and Black students, according to historical enrollment documents. The UCS ratio shed light on the county’s demographics, which is 76 percent Black and 24 percent white, according to the latest U.S. Census  data. The county was also the poorest one in the state. The *first* integrated school in Sumter County, Alabama opened its doors yesterday. (via @Trish_Crain ) https://t.co/7vNVB0CZ93 — adam harris (@AdamHSays) August 14, 2018 The process of integration in Sumter, like that of Alabama, has been slow despite the large population of African-Americans in the county. The 1969 federal court decision that ordered integration to come to Sumter — 15 years after the landmark Brown vs. Board of Education decision — spurred white students to create their own private schools called “segregation academies.” As those private “academies” spread, Sumter’s public school district became predominantly Black. Parents were stuck with a choice of sending their kids to an all-white private institution or a largely Black public school. However, that hasn’t stopped strong integration pushes, which have led to the creation of UCS. A circuit county judge gave the green light for the school’s opening last month, beginning to clear the way for the painful segregation struggle to end and a more intertwined community to emerge. With the school’s debut, parents, teachers and students alike were thrilled and recognized the significance of the event. “The school will work wonders for the community,” Markeitha Tolliver , parent of fourth-grader Marquez Tolliver , said. “I’m praying they keep it for a very long time.” SEE ALSO: Soul Music Legend Aretha Franklin Is Reportedly Near Death Florida Denny’s Turns Away Black Churchgoers And Forced To Apologize [ione_media_gallery src=”https://newsone.com” id=”3821729″ overlay=”true”]

J. Prince Checks Ex-Houston Drug Dealer Over False Claiming: “We Don’t Need Bootleg Con Men And Bootleg Pimps Distorting History”

If you speak down on J. Prince ‘s name, he’ll come and find you. Johnny Binder Jr, one of the more infamous street names in Houston history proclaimed he was the Big J in Houston to J. Prince’s “Lil J.” The self-proclaimed biggest dope dealer in Texas made plenty of statements on the Houston-based What They Talkin’ Bout podcast, prompting J. Prince to make one of his legendary courtesy calls. The Art & Science Of Respect author was a guest on the podcast and before there was ANY mention of his book, he broke down each of Binder’s claims one by one. RELATED: This Failed Prank Call Proves How Feared J. Prince Is RELATED: J Prince: “Don’t Let IG Become Your OG” [EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW] On Binder: “When I hear a man sitting his rotten ass on this leather, telling all these big bold lies about my name .. and the city? Yeah I gotta come and talk about that. I don’t want the city to be following no lie. We got too much going on and we aren’t them kind of people to allow bootleg con men and bootleg pimps to try and distort our history any kind of way.” “Never did me and him work in any capacity. This is a dude I saw a few times in the streets, I shook his hand. But as far as him calling me a friend? He don’t know where I live, he ain’t never been to my house. He don’t know none of my intimate friends so, this dude is a pathological liar. So when he make a statement like, “Rap-A-Lot wouldn’t have existed because of him” then, that’s a joke. A straight up joke. “I heard this man say he flew me and my friend California Kevin (Kevin Allen) to meet Kurtis Blow. And I spoke to Kevin about this lie and he told me, “This man ain’t never flown me no where in my life.” I became a millionaire in the streets before music. [Binder] wasn’t nowhere near that in the streets. That which he’s trying to portray, as the biggest dealer in Texas … is why all the sh*t that’s happened to him has happened. He was always this clown who liked to draw unnecessary attention to him. He’d get all these fancy charges drawn on him. I know his whole M.O. The dude was just a rock house seller. That limo he had? He slept in it. I had to get out of it cause of the odor.” The full interview is nuts but it’s J. Prince going back to Fifth Ward and telling stories about how Binder got out pimped by a lady in California, how he doesn’t know if he wants to be Baptist or Muslim and lying on Louis Farakkhan, wearing monkey sh*t jewelry and more. Watch: Black Men Stalked And Told They “Don’t Belong” In Town By Cop

A nother police misconduct incident has been gotten attention recently. An Arkansas police officer was fired after he told two Black men that they “don’t belong” in “his” city, CBS affiliate WFMY reported. Mike Moore was reprimanded after he told  Demarcus Branch and his cousin Shannon Scribner  to leave town, a video posted to Facebook on Tuesday (Aug. 7) revealed. The incident took place on July 21 in England, Arkansas, and involved Moore stalking them, the men said. Moore forcefully confronted Branch, who is an England native, and Scribner who were shooting a music video, the video showed. Branch told Moore that he noticed the officer was “following [them] everywhere” earlier in the day, but the unconcerned cop dismissed the comment. Moore than asked if the men were recording him speaking, to which they said yes. At that moment, the officer had a tense response. “You know why? Because you don’t belong in my city,” Moore said, referring to why the men were recording the incident. Branch then said that he and Scribner were from England. “But you understand, I know who my people are, right, who belongs here and who doesn’t?,” Moore said in response. “We’ve got gang wars going on, we’ve got all kinds of stuff. I come from the big city where this stuff is small, okay? So, that’s cool. Do your thing.” The exchange then ended with Moore going back to his car and telling the man that he would be getting his K-9 dog out of the vehicle. Moore allegedly stayed in the area while taking his dog out of the car and putting him back in it. After the incident, Branch and Scribner, whose uncle is also an England police officer, filed a complaint with the England Police Department. As they await a response, they hope that Moore isn’t allowed to work in law enforcement again. SEE ALSO: Yes Ma’am! Tamron Hall Is Coming Back Oprah-Style To Broadcast TV No One Is Loyal! Elon Musk Vows On Twitter To Pay For Home Water Filters For Flint Residents

Source: Photo by Mike Kline (notkalvin) / Getty It’s been four years since the bonehead decision by Michigan officials to switch the city of Flint’s water source from Lake Huron to the Flint River. The water from the lake was highly corrosive causing hazardous levels of lead to link into Flint’s water supply poisoning its residents. The residents fought tooth and nail just recognize the problem and bring national attention to the crisis. Despite claims of the water being safe to drink may residents still don’t trust the city’s drinking water. After being challenged on Twitter, Tesla CEO Elon Musk says he is willing to help those still suffering in Flint. Please consider this a commitment that I will fund fixing the water in any house in Flint that has water contamination above FDA levels. No kidding. — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) July 11, 2018 Musk fresh off being in the news for his submarine idea to help the now rescued Thai soccer team trapped in a cave promised in a Tweet: “Please consider this a commitment that I will fund fixing the water in any house in Flint that has water contamination above FDA levels. No kidding.” Michigan’s state government recently ended a program that supplied a free bottled water to residents, despite the fact, there are still residents complaining of unusable water. Musk’s help whether or not its a PR move would definitely be more than welcomed by the people of Flint. Musk also stated in related tweets that “Most houses in Flint have safe water, but they’ve lost faith in govt test results. Some houses are still outliers,” and encouraged those who feel their water is still bad to share their test results and he “will send someone to install a water filter.” He also promised to create a specific email, flint@x.com when he has an opportunity to do so when he returns from China. For now, reply to my tweet with ppm & ppb test results & will send someone to install a water filter. Creating email flint@x.com, but I’m in China so that won’t be working until tomorrow. — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) July 11, 2018 Well, we gotta tip our hat to Elon Musk, this exactly how you put your money where your mouth is. Matt Roloff: I’m Loving Life in Arizona!

Matt Roloff has made it very clear in his latest Instagram post: He may never return to Oregon. No, the Little People, Big World patriarch did not come out and say this directly. He didn’t even imply it, really. We’re just reading between the lines a little bit here, based on some of the rumors we’ve heard; some of the news that has been leaking out; and some of Matt’s own words. Roloff has said himself that he’s moving to Arizona , having reportedly purchased a home there that formerly belonged to the parents of his girlfriend, Caryn Chandler. He’s been spending a lot of time in this state — and, as you can tell by the photo above, he’s having himself a blast there. “Must admit… I love the hot temps with the low humidity. Today 109 with 11%,” wrote Roloff as a caption to this image. Holy hotness, huh?!? But at least it was a dry heat. Matt is a busy man these days. And he’s not busy doing anything on his family’s farm, which is a pretty huge change for the veteran reality star. Roloff is actually about to embark on a book tour , telling Instagram followers that he may soon be coming to their city in order to meet them, greet them and sign some autographs. What does this all mean for the future of Little People, Big World? That’s what we’ve been wondering for awhile now. Over the past several installments of this TLC hit, both Matt and ex-wife Amy have expressed some doubts over where things are going. Said the latter a few weeks ago, for example: “I don’t know what the future of the farm really holds…  it’s a challenge sometimes with Matt and I living on the farm together, being divorced and everything.” Amy and Matt are both in serious relationships, the former with Chris Marek and the latter with Chandler. They’ve been living within just a couple hundred yards of each other for years now, despite their divorce and despite some understandable tension that exists between the exes. They do mostly get along, but they sometimes clash pretty hard over their shared business . Of course, the ex-spouses also have two grandkids, Jackson and Ember, both of whom reside in Oregon. Would Matt really move far away for extended periods of time? It seems a little hard to believe when you consider how close he is to these toddlers. Case in point: But Arizona is clearly calling on occasion and Matt is very happy to answer. TLC is yet to make any announcements about the future of Little People, Big World, leaving fans to wonder whether it will return after this current run of episodes is over. It’s not as though it hasn’t enjoyed a terrific run, of course. Heck, it’s helped the family set a world record ! If this will soon be the end, the series has had quite a run, that’s for certain. Black Valedictorian BANNED From Giving Speech At Graduation By “Problematic” Principal Gets Support From Rochester Mayor

Nazar Abbas Photography/Getty Images Valedictorian Denied Chance To Give Graduation Speech By Biased Principal Jaisaan Lovett graduated from Rochester, NY’s University Preparatory Charter School for Young Men (an all-male charter school serving grades 7-12)as the valedictorian last month, with a full scholarship to Clark Atlanta University. He is the school’s first black valedictorian BUT his principal Joseph Munno refused to let him deliver a graduation speech. Fortunately Rochester’s Mayor Lovely Warren made sure that Lovett had a platform to deliver his speech — the City’s official YouTube channel. Check it out below: According to the Democrat Chronicle the school board was aware of the situation: In a statement issued late Tuesday, the school said its board of trustees is aware of the matter. “The Board will be reviewing the circumstances regarding what happened and looking into the related guidelines and school policies,” the statement read. “For confidentiality reasons, the school isn’t able to speak about the specifics of this situation. “UPrep wishes Jaision (sic) Lovett, the first black Valedictorian in the school’s four year graduation history, much success as he continues his education at Clark Atlanta University.” Lovett says he’d had numerous issues with Munno during his 6 years at U-Prep, including last year, when he led a five-day student strike after he said the school wouldn’t order needed safety equipment for a lab. “There’s a lot of wrong things that go on at that school, and when I notice it I speak out against it,” he said. “(Munno) is a guy that doesn’t like to be told ‘no.’” Lovett said he was never asked to deliver a valedictorian speech even though past students had done so. When he requested permission to speak anyway, he said Munno denied him. “He didn’t want to see the speech or what it said, nothing,” Lovett said. “He just said no.” Crazy right? Sounds like Jaisaan is learning about haters at an early age. Glad to see he also knows how to lean on powerful allies for support.

Zoey Deutch Titty Grab of the Day

Zoey Dutch is Caroline in the City’s Lea Thompson’s 23 year old daughter, who I guess had to go through the struggles of knocking on no doors to get her first acting job, creating her existence as whatever the fuck she is, in what I will reduce to her grabbing her tit. I don’t know why a rich kid from LA looks like she’s 10 years older than she is, or why she’s grabbing her tit for Caroline in the City’s Lea Thompson…I don’t try to understand women of any age, or why they do anything they do, especially not rich, spoiled, entitled women…I just go with it…and this is us going with it.

Yusuf Hawkins Documentary ‘Storm Over Brooklyn’ Coming To HBO

Follow this link:

Source: New York Daily News Archive / Getty Yusuf Hawkins  was slain by a violent white mob nearly 30 years ago, and a new documentary will examine the incidents leading up to this tragic moment in New York history. HBO has ordered Storm Over Brooklyn and will be coming to the cable network at a later date. Shadow and Act writes : The project is a result of the inaugural Feature Documentary Initiative created in 2017 between U.K./U.S. producer Lightbox and the American Black Film Festival to foster diversity in the feature documentary arena. Directed by Muta’Ali, the film will center on the crime which shocked New York and the result of the nation, and its trickle-down impacts. Sixteen-year-old Hawkins had come to Bensonhurst with three friends to look at a used car, when they were attacked by the hostile mob, whose members mistakenly believed that Hawkins was dating a neighborhood girl who was white. The incident shocked New York and the world and unleashed a torrent of racial tension in an already divided city and led to televised protests and marches. The growing unrest contributed to the ousting of New York City Mayor Ed Koch in favor of David Dinkins, who became the city’s first — and as of now, only — African American mayor. “Yusuf Hawkins’ murder had a major effect on the public, and the locked away regret and sorrow questions a history that those involved have held onto for nearly 30 years. We will finally see the light of day in the context of our time. This is due to the courage of Yusuf’s loving family, as well as the visionary talent teams at HBO, Lightbox and ABFF,” said Muta’Ali. Joseph Fama, the man who fired the gunshots that killed Hawkins, was convicted of second-degree murder in May 1990. An accomplice, Keith Mondello, was acquitted of murder charges that year but charged with 12 other counts, which led to protests in the region led by Rev. Al Sharpton and other leaders. — Photo: Getty
