Eminem’s ‘Love The Way You Lie’ Video Premieres Thursday On MTV

Tune in before ‘Jersey Shore’ at 9 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. PT to see Em and Rihanna’s fiery new clip. By Kara Warner Rihanna on the set of “Love the Way You Lie” Photo: Danny Mayer/ Eric Ford/ On Location Photos Hot on the heels of Eminem’s eight VMA nominations , it was announced Tuesday (August 3) that the highly anticipated video for his latest chart-topper, “Love the Way You Lie,” will premiere Thursday on MTV at 9 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. PT before “Jersey Shore.” Directed by Joseph Kahn (who has worked with Lady Gaga, Gwen Stefani, 50 Cent and many other superstars), the video was recently filmed in L.A. and features Rihanna, who sings the hook, along with actors Megan Fox and Dominic Monaghan. Despite the photos that leaked online last week of Fox and Monaghan happily locking lips , they play “a couple going through the extremes of an abusive relationship” — a sensitive subject matter for Em and Rihanna. “Joseph and I worked pretty closely together to make sure we got this right,” Eminem said in a press release. “Trying to make this tough subject work visually is a challenge. It was great to have Rihanna, Megan and Dominic on board for this. … They really brought it and made this video super-powerful.” Rihanna — whose very public assault at the hands of then-boyfriend Chris Brown made the topic especially sensitive for her — recently told “Access Hollywood” this was something she “needed” to do . “It’s something that, you know, [Eminem and I have] both experienced, you know, on different sides, different ends of the table,” she said. “It just was authentic. It was real. It was believable for us to do a record like that, but it was also something that needed to be done, and the way he did it was so clever. He pretty much just broke down the cycle of domestic violence, and it’s something that a lot people don’t have a lot of insight on, so this song is a really, really powerful song, and it touches a lot of people.” Judging by the intense, fiery photos that leaked from the video’s set , the clip looks to make a powerful statement and could be an early contender for next year’s Video Music Awards. At this year’s VMAs — which air live from Los Angeles on Sunday, September 12 — Eminem’s “Not Afraid” will try to fend off the competition for Video of the Year, as well as Best Male Video and Best Hip-Hop Video. Eminem is also nominated alongside Drake in the Best Hip-Hop Video category for his contribution to the MC’s cameo-filled “Forever.” Rihanna’s vid for “Rude Boy” is up for Best Editing. Don’t forget to tune in to MTV on Thursday at 9 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. PT for the premiere of Eminem’s “Love the Way You Lie,” and check MTVNews.com for full coverage of the clip. Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane Filmed Parts For ‘We Be Steady Mobbin’ ‘ Separately

Exclusive clip shows Gucci talking to Ciara about shooting video, which premieres Sunday on MTV Jams. By Jayson Rodriguez Lil Wayne Photo: C. Flanigan/ FilmMagic Lil Wayne got his sentencing in New York delayed couple of times this year. But if he’d seen just one more postponement for his one-year prison term, he and Gucci Mane’s work on the “We Be Steady Mobbin’ ” video probably would have been a bit easier. As it was the Wayne turned himself in just a week before Gucci was freed from prison. And so the two had to film their parts for the clip, which is scheduled to premiere on MTV Jams this Sunday, separately. “We shooting my part, but Wayne already shot his part before going to jail,” Gucci Mane told Ciara during a phone call in an exclusive clip provided to MTV News by DJ Scoob Doo. Scoob Doo directed the “We Be Steady Mobbin’ ” video, and behind-the-scenes footage of the clip will be available on his forthcoming DVD “Entourage: Fetti Holmes Edition.” The project serves as a preview to his and Lil Wayne’s collaborative DVD effort “The Nino Brown Story Pt. 3.” “I chose the title of ‘Entourage’ because this is — in my opinion — the heavy hitters of the game,” Scoob told MTV News about the preview project, which will include footage of Lil Wayne, Jadakiss and Drake. “It happens that I have personal relationships with them. It made sense not to sit on the footage, not to sit on the exclusive content. A lot of people are waiting for that ‘Nino Brown Story’ with Lil Wayne. But this is something you can watch to keep you in suspense and satisfy that hunger.” Related Artists Lil Wayne Ciara Gucci Mane

Justin Bieber, Jaden Smith Premiere ‘Karate Kid’ Video, ‘Never Say Never’

Bieber and Smith recorded the track together for Smith’s new movie. By Jocelyn Vena Jaden Smith and Justin Bieber in their video for “Never Say Never” Photo: The Island Def Jam Music Group Justin Bieber has recorded a duet with “Karate Kid” star Jaden Smith called “Never Say Never,” for the movie’s soundtrack. The two also star in the track’s video together, with Bieber saying the clip is “Chuck Norris Approved” and referring to Smith as his “lil’ bro.” The video is a combination of recording-studio footage and scenes from “The Karate Kid,” which hits theaters on June 11. The video shows the teen pop star bouncing alongside the 11-year-old star of the flick as they lay down the vocals for the hip-hop-flavored track. While Bieber has made a career of singing about puppy love, on this song the teen sensation gets his inspirational message on singing lyrics like “I will never say never/ I will fight till forever/ Whenever you knock me down/ I will not stay on the ground/ Pick it up.” The boys goof around with one another in the clip, with Bieber flexing some karate moves and Smith proving he has what it takes to be the heir to his father Will Smith’s rapping throne when he raps during the breakdown of the song. “I can handle him/ Hold up/ I can handle him/ Now he’s bigger than me/ Taller than me/ And he’s older and stronger than me,” Smith raps. He then goes on to say that he was “raised with the power of Will (No pun intended, OK?)” so he can do just about anything, including appearing on a song with Bieber. Bieber later tweeted a message to his fans, saying, “#NeverSayNever to believing in your dreams … u all make mine come true everyday. thank u :)” What do you think of the Bieber/Smith collaboration? Rick Ross Says ‘Super High’ Video Is ‘Like A Flashback Of ‘Easy Rider’ ‘

‘It’s gonna look like a mini-movie as opposed to just a music video,’ co-star Ne-Yo says of the F. Gary Gray-directed clip. By Shaheem Reid Stacy Dash and Rick Ross Photo: MTV News Rick Ross is sitting on top of the world — in his new video for “Super High,” Ross, along with his lady, straddles his motorcyle on a mountain top. “Shout-out to F. Gary Gray,” Ross said recently on the set of the clip. “That’s my favorite director throughout film. I met him … Diddy introduced me to him one night. When I completed the record, I flew out to L.A. and met with him. I played [the track] for him. I gotta shout him out big time. … But he video is actually like flashback of [the movie] ‘Easy Rider’ — a bunch of homies hoggin’ the highway. We run across a beautiful young lady which happens to be Stacie Dash , and a dude — he’s a d—– bag. I end up snatching her and spending the rest of the evening with her, the way a boss should.” “It’s basically Ross and his gang riding around doing what they do,” guest star Ne-Yo said of the clip. “This is my first time working with F. Gary Gray. So far, so good. He’s a movie director, so everything is gonna have that cinematic edge to it. It’s gonna look like a mini-movie as opposed to just a music video.” Sure enough, Gray choreographed a scene were Ross and his road dawgs surround the sports vehicle being driven by Dash’s original beau and, of course, Ross got a performance scene as well, let his swagger shine in his custom-made leather jacket. In a later scene, Ross and Ne-Yo sit at a table together in a bar filled with tough guys and sexy ladies. While on set, Ne-Yo did say that the song has nothing to do with indulging in narcotics. “It’s just about feeling good,” The Grammy Award-winning singer clarified. “Doing things that maybe regular people can’t do. You work hard so you get to play hard.” Ross explained that he was inspired to write the record while looking down at Central Park from Diddy’s penthouse in Manhattan. “The concept actually came from me and Diddy — we was running around New York City one night, went back to his penthouse and that’s where the actual term ‘super high’ comes from,” Ross offered. “It’s 5 o’clock in the morning. I’m just burning, I’m thinking. [Diddy] turned on ‘Purple Rain,’ Prince. A few homies were in there — D Roc, me and him reminiscing, talking about Biggie. After the conversation I just stopped watching the movie and walked to the huge window. And I was reflecting like, ‘Wow.’ It had me reflecting on how far I came as a artist and as a person. “When you trying to get better as an artist, a lot of times we coming from the streets. We’re flawed in a lot of ways. We trying to get better as people,” he explained. “I was reflecting on that, realizing how significant the title Teflon Don is, even though that was one of my first rap names and one of the first tattoos I got. I just came with the whole first verse looking out the view: ‘From my n—a Diddy view, I think I see his vision too/ ‘Purple Rain,’ over Central Park, chillin’ with my goons.’ I was just capturing them moments and putting it over beats.” Teflon Don is slated to drop on June 29 and Diddy, Kanye West and Jay-Z have all contributed to the project.
