Cee Lo Remembers His Odd Jobs On ‘When I Was 17’

‘F— You’ belter recalls high school hustles on episode premiering Saturday at 11 a.m. By Mawuse Ziegbe Cee-Lo Photo: MTV News Cee Lo’s latest hit, the Grammy-nominated, lyrically bird-flipping jam “F— You,” is all about unapologetically sticking it to a former flame. But back when the MC was a teen, he was fairly well-behaved, spending a lot of time toiling at a bevy of random gigs. “When I was 17, I did just about every odd job that you can think of. I worked for a temporary agency called Talent Tree, and they would call you as availabilities came in,” Cee Lo recalls in the latest episode of “When I Was 17,” which premieres Saturday at 11 a.m. “I worked at a bank. I worked at a shoe warehouse. I worked for Xerox. All we do is make copies of documents all night. It paid pretty good to do that too.” The ex-Goodie Mob MC also remembers a gig at a snack-packaging facility that churned out compact cartons of assorted salty munchies. “I remember one that was really funny — I worked in a warehouse where they were putting together the Frito-Lay variety boxes of chips,” The Lady Killer singer explains. “I was on the end and I would push them through the plastic part where they would kinda do the overlay of plastic.” The “Closet Freak” belter recalls an incident in which the chips took a messy detour on their road to plastic-wrapped destiny. “One time I look back over the conveyor belt, and I just remember potato chips just falling all over the floor,” he says. As the chips slid from the conveyor belt, Cee Lo decided it was time to make his exit as well. “I was like, ‘Oh, no. I’m out!’ ” he says. “When I Was 17” — this week featuring Cee Lo, Audrina Patridge and Miss J — premieres Saturday at 11 a.m. on MTV. Barbie Rocks Lady Gaga’s Outrageous 2010 Outfits

Iconic doll models Mother Monster’s zaniest looks of the year in an Entertainment Weekly photo spread. By Mawuse Ziegbe Cher and Lady Gaga Barbies at the 2010 VMAs Photo: EW.com One unique hallmark of pop-culture superstardom is getting a doll fashioned in her super-fabulous image. But when we’re talking about Lady Gaga , one plastic figurine suited up in a signature costume just isn’t enough. That’s also what the folks at Entertainment Weekly thought, so they tricked out an assortment of Barbies in miniature versions of some of Gaga’s most memorable 2010 looks. In a tribute to one of the magazine’s Entertainers of the Year, stylists re-created six of Gaga’s most headline-grabbing ensembles for the foot-tall diva. Barbie is wrapped up in strips of raw meat for a doll-size take on Gaga’s meat dress from the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards , her fleshy booties affixed to her feet with dental floss and a miniature Cher with big hair and a skimpy bodysuit handing her a Moonman in front of a VMA step-and-repeat. Barbie is also outfitted in her own version of the lacy beekeeper-chic look Gaga rocked to attend her sister’s high school graduation. Lending the image a sense of authenticity, the picture of Barbs in a cream-colored jumpsuit and voluminous black veil was actually snapped at the Germanottas’ alma mater on New York’s Upper East Side. Another of the songstress’ show-stopping NYC appearances is revisited, as Barbie dons a mini-dress made of brown human-hair extensions and ropes of sparkly jewels with a mic attached to her hand, paying homage to

MRC’s Bozell Discusses Media’s Pro-Tax Hike Bias on December 3 ‘Fox & Friends’

While the media have been hyping rich liberals like Ted Turner and Warren Buffett calling on Congress to raise taxes on Americans earning over $250,000 per year, they've failed to inform the public that the nation's top earners already pay a disproportionately large share of the nation's tax burden, NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell told Fox News's Steve Doocy on this morning's “Fox & Friends” : read more

McCain presses for accountability in WikiLeaks breach

Really?? What about the accountability of the former president and his staff?? What about the accountability of the US and the thousands they have killed over a bullshit war?? What about the accountability of our government and the LACK OF SUPPORT FOR IT'S PEOPLE AND THE MONEY THEY KEEP WASTING??? They already bailed out the banks, when are they going to bail out the PEOPLE THAT PAY THEIR SALARIES??? More and more I find our country lacking moral judgement and the balls to question, accuse and attack others, but not take responsibility of it's actions!! When is someone going to? or are we (people who protest) so called “terrorist”/ “traitors” for not accepting the bullshit that's going on in this country??? ************************************************************** and by the way, here's the news article… =D http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/12/02/mccain.wikileaks/ Washington (CNN) — A senior Republican senator pressed Pentagon leadership Thursday as to why nobody — other than a very junior soldier — has been held responsible for the leak of thousands of secret national security documents to WikiLeaks. Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona, called the WikiLeaks episode “an incredible breach of national security.” In a tense exchange, McCain asked Defense Secretary Robert Gates whether the Pentagon has identified or punished anyone else. “Have you held anyone responsible?” McCain asked. “Not yet,” replied Gates, who earlier said the criminal investigation limits the Defense Department's ability to conduct an independent investigation. So far a single low-ranking U.S. soldier, Pfc. Bradley Manning, is the only person charged and held in custody in connection with the leaks. Later McCain grilled other Pentagon officials, who were testifying with Gates before the Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on the ban on gays and lesbians serving opening in the military. McCain appeared obviously frustrated. “It's been since July,” McCain said with a dismissive wave of his hand, referring to the first WikiLeaks release of Defense Department documents. “Can't you carry out an investigation at the same time that the criminal investigation is going on?” McCain asked Joint Chiefs Chairman, Adm. Mike Mullen. “Yes, sir, in certain kinds of incidents that's certainly possible,” Mullen answered. “At least, maybe, to hold someone responsible for this besides a private first class,” McCain said. Mullen said everything necessary must be done to prevent another breach of secure documents, stopping short of directly endorsing McCain's call for punitive action against WikiLeaks organizers such as travel bans, asset freezes and other sanctions. “In my world, when I've got men and women in harm's way and they are now exposed because of this, I think we as a country should do all we can to make sure it can't happen again,” Mullen said. The political frustration was bipartisan. Following a closed-door hearing of the Senate's intelligence committee on WikiLeaks' latest release, the group's outgoing chairwoman, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, said that not enough is being done to protect critical government information. “This qualifies as espionage,” the California Democrat said as she left the hearing. “[The release] incapacitates this nation to carry out business… This is far beyond free speech.” On Thursday, Sens. John Ensign (R-Nevada), Scott Brown (R-Massachusetts) and Joe Lieberman (I-Connecticut) proposed legislation to make it easier for federal authorities to go after WikiLeaks' founder, Julian Assange, and others behind leaks of confidential U.S. documents. “What Wikileaks has done amounts to espionage in a most serious form,” said Lieberman. “It's probably the most terrible act and greatest act of espionage against the United States in our history.” Meanwhile, the U.S. government also continued its verbal assault on Assange. “He could be considered a political actor. I think he's an anarchist, but he's not a journalist,” State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley said at his daily briefing. “Mr. Assange obviously has a particular political objective behind his activities and I think that, among other things, disqualifies him from the possibility of being considered a journalist.” Wikileaks often is referred to as a “whistle-blower” organization but the State Department spokesman shot that down, too. “He's not a journalist, he's not a whistle-blower,” Crowley said. “He is a political actor; he has a political agenda.” more at the link… added by: KSirys

MRC’s Bozell Debates Offensive Smithsonian Art Exhibit on CNN’s ‘John King USA’

“Look, if you like depictions of sadomasochism… if you like homoerotic art…. if you're into religious bigotry… if you like that, fine,” but don't expect taxpayers to subsidize such an exhibit at a Smithsonian museum, NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell argued in a debate segment on last night's edition of “John King USA” on CNN. The Media Research Center (MRC) founder and president appeared opposite Washington Post art critic Blake Gopnik, who defended the controversial art display “Hide/Seek: Difference and Desire in American Portraiture” featured at the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery. You may recall that on Tuesday Bozell called for Congress to investigate the taxpayer-funded Smithsonian for showcasing the abhorrent and sacrilegious display. Alicia Keys Talks Sacrificing Her Digital Life On World AIDS Day

Singer tells MTV News celebrity ‘Buy Life’ campaign is a ‘shocker’ but will engage everyone in cause of HIV/AIDS awareness. By Jayson Rodriguez Alicia Keys Photo: Stephen Lovekin/ Getty Images Alicia Keys walked into the CNN newsroom on Wednesday (December 1) and saw the staff swirling around working and thought the sight would make for a cool picture to send to her Twitter followers. The thing is, she’d killed off her digital life the night before. So no TwitPic, but Keys isn’t sweating it as she’s leading a campaign called Buy Life to raise awareness about the impact of HIV/AIDS and the many lives lost in Africa and India. The idea is for people to donate money to “buy back” hers and other celebrities’ digital lives by texting donations to benefit her Keep a Child Alive organization. And the slogan is simple: You buy a digital life to save a real one. “You can really feel the energy of it, it’s there,” Keys told MTV News of the campaign, which has set a goal of raising $1 million before celebrity participants like Usher, Kim Kardashian and Swizz Beatz return to Twitter and Facebook. “I love that. That’s what’s so important about it, we’re engaging everyone,” Keys continued. “Not only are these incredible artists deciding to sacrifice their digital life until we collectively raise $1 million for the cause, but we’re asking everyone who participates in our Twitter and Facebook and who we communicate with to be a part of it as well. I think a lot of people feel like there are things going on in the world and want to do something but [think], ‘What am I supposed to do?’ So it feels like people have an outlet and a way to participate. By texting, by buying Usher’s life back, I think they get a bit of a shocker, but I think people will love it. And they’ll pay attention and know what do to.” The initiative by Keys’ Keep a Child Alive was launched on Wednesday to coincide with World Aids Day. In addition to the “Un-Thinkable” singer, Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Ryan Seacrest and others have also given up their digital lives. Jay Sean told MTV News that while the approach may shock, sometimes ideas like this are needed to get a message across. “I think we all sometimes turn a blind eye to things that might be depressing, too heavy,” the U.K. singer said. “But sometimes you need to be really shook up and poked and prodded to do something, because the way I believe is that every human needs another human being to get some life. … We need each other, and I feel like we should all help each other.” Will you help bring your favorite celeb back to life? CNN Hero Of The Year – Anuradha Koirala

Los Angeles, California (CNN) — A woman whose group has rescued more than 12,000 women and girls from sex slavery has been named the 2010 CNN Hero of the Year. Anuradha Koirala was chosen by the public in an online poll that ran for eight weeks on CNN.com. CNN's Anderson Cooper revealed the result at the conclusion of the fourth annual “CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute.” “Human trafficking is a crime, a heinous crime, a shame to humanity,” Koirala said earlier in the evening after being introduced as one of the top 10 CNN Heroes of 2010. “I ask everyone to join me to create a society free of trafficking. We need to do this for all our daughters.” Koirala was introduced by actress Demi Moore, who along with her husband, Ashton Kutcher, created DNA, The Demi and Ashton Foundation, which aims to eliminate child sex slavery worldwide. “Every day this woman confronts the worst of what humanity has to offer,” Moore said of Koirala. “She says, 'Stop. Stop selling our girls.' By raiding brothels and patrolling the India-Nepal border, she saves girls from being sold into the sex trade, where they are being repeatedly raped for profit, tortured and enslaved. “Since 1993, she has helped rescue more than 12,000 women and girls. Through her organization Maiti Nepal, she has provided more than a shelter for these girls and young women, she has created a home. It is a place for them to heal, go to school, learn a skill, and for some who are infected with HIV/AIDS, it is the place where they can spend their days surrounded by love.” See Koirala's fan page on CNN Heroes Koirala will receive $100,000 to continue her work with Maiti Nepal, in addition to the $25,000 awarded to each of the top 10 Heroes honored. “This is another responsibility to me to work with all your support,” Koirala told the audience after being named Hero of the Year. “We have to end this heinous crime. Please join hands with me to end this crime. … Please try to respect the youth. They are the ones who are going to build the next generation. Thank you so much.” Koirala's speech capped the gala event, which was taped November 20 before an audience of nearly 5,000 and premiered Thanksgiving night on the global networks of CNN. The show opened with a salute to the 33 Chilean miners and five of the people who rescued them last month after the miners spent 69 days underground. “For 69 days we were amazed by these 33 brave miners,” Cooper said in welcoming the miners onto the Shrine stage. “Their ordeal was unthinkable; their rescue, unbelievable. No one has ever been trapped underground so deep for so long and survived. “They endured a nightmare, experienced a miracle, and in the end became each others' brothers and heroes. On behalf of CNN Heroes, we salute all 33 Chilean miners.” After the miners sang the Chilean national anthem, two of them — speaking through a translator and holding the Chilean flag — expressed their appreciation. “We want to thank the world, and we want to thank God for your prayers,” Luis Urzua told the audience in Spanish. “Our families suffered. Our children suffered, too. But thanks to the prayers of the whole world, we could come out of this difficulty,” Mario Sepulveda added. “Some of our rescuers are here with us tonight,” Urzua said. “Thank you for bringing us home. You are our heroes.” CNN brought the miners and their rescuers to the United States to attend the tribute show. The five rescuers were selected to represent the many thousands whose talent and effort led to the dramatic rescue. The top 10 CNN Heroes, chosen by a blue-ribbon panel from an initial pool of more than 10,000 nominations from more than 100 countries, were each honored with a documentary tribute and introduced by a celebrity presenter. The program also featured performances by Grammy Award-winners Bon Jovi, John Legend and Sugarland. Rock legends Bon Jovi performed “What Do You Got?,” a new song from their greatest hits album, which came out earlier this month. Legend performed “Wake Up Everybody” along with hip-hop artist Common and R&B singer Melanie Fiona. Sugarland performed “Stand Up,” a new song from their album “The Incredible Machine,” which made its debut in October. All three performances echoed the spirit of the CNN Heroes campaign, which salutes everyday people whose extraordinary accomplishments are making a difference in their communities and beyond. Celebrity presenters included Halle Berry, Demi Moore, Jessica Alba, Kid Rock, LL Cool J, Renee Zellweger, Gerard Butler, Kiefer Sutherland, Marisa Tomei, Aaron Eckhart and Holly Robinson Peete. added by: TimALoftis
