Amber Heard Comes Out as a Lesbian

Actress Amber Heard has come out as a lesbian, proudly walking the red carpet with her partner Tasya van Ree at the GLAAD 25th anniversary bash in L.A. Heard has appeared in films like The Informers, Zombieland and Pineapple Express , and will be Johnny Depp’s leading lady in his upcoming The Rum Diary . Amber said she had to ask herself if by being closeted, she was part of the problem in denying “millions of hard-working, tax paying Americans” their rights. Amber and Tasya make a cute couple . “I think GLAAD is one of the many reasons that I, as a 24-year-old, can come out now,” she explained along side Tasya van Ree, who is a photographer and artist. She and Heard have quietly been together since 2008. “She is beautiful,” Heard said of van Ree.

Chely Wright Makes It Official: I’m Gay

It’s official: Chely Wright is gay. The country music singer tells this week’s issue of People : “Nothing in my life has been more magical than the moment I decided to come out.” That moment has arrived, but Wright says it took awhile to get there. Growing up in the south (she was born in Kansas City, Missouri), the Academy of Country Music’s Top New Female Vocalist in 1994 said she doesn’t have “a memory in my life that doesn’t include the dream of making music.” But she resided in a world that shunned homosexuality and, therefore, “hid everything for my music.” Why come out now? The news coincides with the release of Wright’s memoir this week Like Me , as well as her first album in five years, Lifted off the Ground . Part of the official synopsis for the book reads that Wright made “a pact with God: to keep her “sinning” to a minimum if he’d get her to the stage of the Grand Ole Opry.” We’re proud of her for finally revealing her true true to the world. What do you think of this announcement?

Nicollette Sheridan Felt "Compelled" to Sue Marc Cherry, Attorney States

Months after her character was killed off Desperate Housewives , Nicollette Sheridan has created the kind of scandal that makes Wisteria Lane the most famous street on television. In court papers filed this week, the actress has accused that show’s creator of assault and wrongful termination. Why did she come out now with the $20 million lawsuit? “Nicollette worked very hard on the show and was a model employee,” said her attorney, Mark Baute. “Mr. Cherry’s behavior towards Nicollette was and is nothing short of abusive and appalling.” Baute’s statement continues, explaining his client’s motivation: “The lawsuit is not something Nicollette wanted to do, it’s something she felt compelled to do. “Nicollette asked ABC for help and protection from Mr. Cherry’s abusive behavior, and ultimately, ABC was not willing or able to provide that protection. “Sometimes the only way that a safe and normal work environment can be created is when a hard-working person like Nicollette stands up for herself and her rights, and in doing so help protect others who have had to work in a hostile environment. “We expect the case to be hard fought, and it will not be a surprise if ABC and Mr. Cherry try to depict Nicollette to be something other than a team player and long-standing industry professional. “She put her heart and soul into the role of the Edie character, a character that she truly enjoyed playing.” ABC is on record, saying Sheridan’s allegations are “without merit.” We doubt we’ve heard the last about this case. Do you have an opinion on it?
