2 Chainz Checks In With GQ Magazine With An Album Update After Being Crowned The King Of Two Liners

2 Chainz is making a much lauded appearance in the June issue of GQ Magazine. Our friends over there were kind enough to send us an outtake from their shoot along with a rundown of their feature. Here’s the excerpt via GQ : In June’s Comedy issue, GQ names the “40 Things Making Us Laugh Right Now,” and chief among them is rapper 2 Chainz, whom we crown the “King of Two Liners.” The Atlanta-based rapper’s twisted humor and tawdry, spit-take-funny two-beat punch lines make him more than worthy of the title, and have helped him become one of hip-hop’s most in-demand MCs. GQ catches up with Chaniz to hear how he’s keeping things fresh on his next album, coming out in September. “There’s nothing new under the sun. Everyone’s sold dope, f***ed b***hes, popped champagne, shot guns,” he says about the lyrics for his sophomore effort. “I’ll take the extra minutes to do it a new way.” 2 Chainz is definitely a funny guy, but some folks are divided about whether his lyrical skills are for real or a real joke. WATCH: Robert De Niro & Jane Rosenthal Get Down To Business For 2013 Tribeca Film Festival

This Wednesday kicks off the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival , and I got the chance to sit down with festival co-founders Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal to talk shop.  Now while all film festivals have plenty of business going on behind the scenes, Tribeca puts it front and center with events like its  Future of Film LIVE talks which focus on film distribution.  According to Rosenthal, the festival is geared to reflect the hot topics of conversation in the film industry today:  “We have to look at how the business is changing and how you create is different because of technology…so it’s that merging together of that dialogue.” As for De Niro, he’s looking forward to the screening and discussion of his 1982 film The King of Comedy .  “I haven’t seen it for a long, long time.  And talking with Marty Scorsese about it and answering whatever questions…that will be interesting.” Check out my full interview from below, as well as the festival’s website where they’ll feature live streaming of some events: Follow Grace Randolph on  Twitter .
