Jenna Talackova Falls Short of Miss Universe Canada Crown, Named Miss Congeniality

Transgender Canadian beauty queen Jenna Talackova turned heads in a bikini and placed in the top 12 at the Miss Universe Canada pageant this weekend. The 6-foot-1 blonde bombshell was a crowd favorite, even though she fell short of the Miss Canada crown and entry into the Miss Universe competition. Born Walter Talackova, Jenna also seemed to be a favorite among her fellow contestants and was one of four women voted “Miss Congeniality.” The 23-year-old was originally disqualified from the competition because she was not a “naturally born female,” but ultimately allowed back in. After threats of a lawsuit and public outcry, the Trump Organization, which owns the contest, announced Talackova would be allowed to compete. “I didn’t know that there would be this much controversy. I was just entering because, you know, I wanted to represent Canada,” Talackova said. Adding that she was born in the wrong body , Jenna added, “I think I’m a beautiful woman, inside and out. I think I would have done the job.” Gotta give her credit for trying and conducting herself with class. Take a look at some photos of Jenna modeling at the Miss Canada pageant below:

Kristen Stewart Amused By ‘Snow White’ Co-Star Charlize Theron

‘I love the effect she has on people,’ KStew tells MTV News. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Charlize Theron in “Snow White and the Huntsman” Photo: Universal Despite their obvious differences both onscreen and off, Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron have formed a bond during the filming of “Snow White and the Huntsman” and even more so during the current press tour in support of the film. When MTV News caught up with Stewart recently, we asked her to compare the familiar scenario of doing interviews with her longtime “Twilight” co-stars Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner versus her new castmate, the lovely Ms. Theron. “When Rob, Taylor and I do interviews together, they usually don’t actually ask us anything. We just get to hang out and people like to watch that,” Stewart said with a laugh. “It’s fine, because I like hanging out with those guys, but it is weird. With Charlize, it’s been great, because we’re so proud of the movie and we actually only worked together for three days, so we got to know each other probably more or at least on a certain level during press, and it’s been nice. It’s been fun.” Stewart said she especially admires Theron’s ability to light up a room with her energy and humor. “Some people intimidate you. Some people’s energy is so big you feel like you don’t fit in the room, but with her, I really appreciate how different we are. I love the effect she has on people,” Stewart said. “I find it hilarious. I love watching it happen. I do not have that. Maybe I have something else, but it’s definitely not as visceral. Also, she’s really hilarious,” she added, noting that the Oscar winner uses the more colorful swear words with particular aplomb. “[She] puts me to shame, to be honest,” Stewart said. Maria Menounos Eliminated From ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Despite Perfect Score

Remaining three celebrities — William Levy, Katherine Jenkins and Donald Driver — will continue competing for mirror ball trophy next week. By Kelley L. Carter Maria Menounos and Derek Hough on “Dancing With the Stars” Photo: ABC The truth is, anyone’s name could have been called to head home from ABC’s hit show “Dancing With the Stars” on Tuesday night and it would have been a shock. On Monday night, most of the contestants scored well with the judges. Although opera singer Katherine Jenkins has been a top performer on the show all season, she made a few missteps in one of her Monday night performances — and subsequently beat herself up about it. So folks may not have been too surprised to hear her name called as this week’s eliminated dancer. Instead, it was one of the night’s top scorers who got the boot. It ultimately came down to TV journalist Maria Menounos and her partner Derek Hough and NFL star Donald Driver and his partner Peta Murgatroyd. Menounos was the one to go, despite having a near-perfect score on Monday night. The judges salivated over the Argentine tango she performed as her first dance, rewarding her with perfect 10s all around. For her second performance, she took on the jive, and the judges actually named her the winner of the night — and possibly the competition itself. When her name was called Tuesday night, Menounos said, “I learned so many things — how strong I was, to persevere … I want to thank everyone here. I want to thank Derek and my family and everyone who voted for us.” Next week, the remaining three celebrities — Latin heartthrob William Levy and his partner Cheryl Burke, Driver and Murgatroyd, and Jenkins and Mark Ballas will compete for the mirror ball trophy.

Westlife Win MTV’s Battle Of The Boy Bands

Irish boy band easily defeated Jonas Brothers in the championship matchup. By Christina Garibaldi Westlife Photo: Getty Images The fans have spoken. After two weeks of intense matchups and more than 12 million votes, Westlife have come out on top in MTV’s Battle of the Boy Bands . The Irish boy band easily defeated the in the final round, with more than 70 percent of the final vote. It was a hard-fought finale with both bands’ fanbases tirelessly voting in the hopes of giving their band the championship, but in the end, the international firepower of Westlife was too much for JoBros fans to handle. Westlife may not have been favored to win this competition, but from day one they proved they were fighters and were out to make a statement. They got everyone’s attention early on when, amidst accusations of cheating, they fairly beat out fan favorites the Backstreet Boys in the first round. They had no trouble at all beating out their next two opponents, O-Town and the Beatles, and managed to get past newcomers the Wanted in the Final Four to ultimately take on the Jonas Brothers in the championship. This win in the Battle of the Boy Bands seems to come at a perfect time for the group because their 14-year career is about to come to an end. Westlife have decided to go their separate ways after the conclusion of their Greatest Hits Tour, which kicks off later this week and wraps up at the end of June in front of a hometown crowd in Dublin, Ireland. Congratulations to Westlife and to all their extremely loyal fans: You have certainly proved your devotion and didn’t let up no matter how tough the competition was. Thanks to all the bands that participated. From newcomers One Direction, Mindless Behavior and Big Time Rush to veteran groups Boyz II Men and the Backstreet Boys , it was truly an epic tournament. But it wouldn’t have been possible without all of you, the fans. All of your vigorous voting resulted in some shocking upsets , some heated matchups and some rally-from-behind wins, making this a true battle of the boy bands. Dancing With the Results: Wait, What?!

After Monday’s Dancing With the Stars performances, which saw Maria Menounos and Derek Hough receive the first perfect 30 of the season, it seemed all but certain that Melissa Gilbert and an injured Maksim Chmerkovskiy would be in the bottom two. Their 21-point tango left them in last place , a full three points behind Jaleel White and Kym Johnson and four behind Roshon Fegan and Chelsie Hightower. Which two pairs were in the bottom two, and which was safe on last night’s Dancing With the Stars results show? More than a few people were surprised. Melissa and Maks were declared safe, leaving young Roshon and Chelsie to go up against fan favorites Jaleel and Kym in the dance duel for their lives. After the two performed dueling rumbas, the judges made their decision. “This is not easy. Side by side you guys are pretty much equal,” said Carrie Ann, who picked Roshon and Chelsie to stay. Len and Bruno made it unanimous. And just like that, Jaleel White’s run on Dancing With the Stars ended. “I really only thought I’d last about three dances this competition,” White said after his elimination, “so to get this far – I’ve made incredible friends, the fans have been incredible. I love Roshon Fegan … I’m glad they saved him.” What do you think: Should Jaleel have gone home?

‘NSYNC? Boyz II Men? Celebs Pick Their Top Boy Bands!

‘Jersey Shore’ star Vinny Guadagnino, Monica, ‘Glee’ actress Dianna Agron and more weigh in on MTV’s Battle of the Boy Bands. By Christina Garibaldi New Kids On The Block Photo: Michel Linssen/ Getty Images With the Battle of the Boy Bands nearing the Final Four , things are getting pretty intense among fans who are furiously voting to keep their favorite groups in the race. Along the way, we lost some of the early front-runners , including the Backstreet Boys , ‘NSYNC , New Kids on the Block and Boyz II Men . Just because the Boyz were knocked out in the second round of the competition doesn’t mean they don’t have their die-hard fans out there — among them “Glee” star Dianna Agron. “When I was growing up, it was ‘NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees,” Agron told MTV News of the late-’90s boy-band explosion. “I was so obsessed with Boyz II Men in fourth grade. ‘Motownphilly’ — so good, so awesome.” The R&B group is a favorite of Monica ‘s as well. “My favorite boy band would have to be New Edition and Boyz II Men,” she told MTV News. “I don’t know if you consider these boy bands though, but they were just unbelievable.” Another popular choice was ‘NYSNC, who made a shocking first-round exit when they lost in the final moments of voting to British boy band 5ive . Justin Timberlake and company ruled the charts (and the hearts of teen girls everywhere) in the late ’90s. “I would say ‘NSYNC was my favorite boy band. They’re amazing, they were so talented,” former Danity Kane singer Aubrey O’Day said. “Obviously Justin came from that. We all know we were sweating Justin!” Posters of Timberlake most certainly lined the walls of millions of fans, including Selena Gomez, who revealed to MTV News that her first crush was the former ‘NSYNC member. Of course, picking just one boy band isn’t always easy, which was the problem for Roc Nation’s newest member, British singer Rita Ora . “My ultimate boy band, I have a few: Jackson 5, Jagged Edge — I love Jagged Edge,” Ora said. ” ‘NSYNC, they were the ones, I swear.” But when “Jersey Shore” star Vinny Guadagnino picked his ultimate boy band, he opted for keeping it in the MTV family. “I kinda liked 2ge+her ,” Vinny admitted. “I loved [‘U + Me = Us’].” Voting for the Elite Eight in MTV’s Battle of the Boy Bands runs until noon ET on Wednesday, May 2. New Kids Off The Block, Brits Advance In Battle Of The Boy Bands!

One Direction, the Wanted, Jonas Brothers move on to Elite Eight. Voting in third round begins now! By Christina Garibaldi Westlife Photo: Emma Peios/ Getty Images The British boy bands are in it to win it! MTV’s Battle of the Boy Bands advanced into the third round on Monday (April 30), with U.K. group Westlife continuing their impressive run by beating out O-Town in the Sweet 16, and England’s 5ive overtaking LFO. The two groups join English newcomers One Direction and the Wanted, as well as Big Time Rush and Mindless Behavior in the Elite Eight. New Kids on the Block had a tough matchup against the Beatles. In the end, the Boston band just couldn’t gain enough votes to get them through. But the closest match was a fight to the finish between the Jonas Brothers and Hanson. The JoBros ultimately overtook the trio in a last-minute surge of voting to continue on in the competition. So what do the Elite Eight matchups look like now? Read on for a breakdown and remember polls close at noon ET on Wednesday! Midwest Westlife vs. the Beatles : Westlife’s fanbase is no joke. Fans from around the world have been voting for these guys around the clock to ensure they make it to the finals. But the group, who are currently in rehearsals for their farewell tour, will have a tough Elite Eight matchup in the Beatles. The Fab Four barely made it by New Kids on the Block in the Sweet 16, so expect another close matchup in this round. Fun fact about these two groups: Westlife’s first seven singles debuted at the top of the U.K. charts, tying with the Beatles’ record. East 5ive vs. Jonas Brothers : 5ive have surprised many of the fans watching this competition. They took out two of the biggest boy bands of the late ’90s in the early stages of competition, ‘NSYNC and LFO, and will now face off against the Jonas Brothers. While 5ive haven’t been an active group since 2001, they fanbase is still very loyal. It might be tough, however, to get past the Jonases. The JoBros are still very much a group and are reportedly working on their next album, which may motivate fans to keep voting. This matchup will most likely be another nail-biter. West The Wanted vs. Big Time Rush : Rushers are making their presence known in this competition as they helped their group, Big Time Rush, overpower R&B chart-toppers Boyz II Men . Things should get very interesting now as BTR take on the Wanted: The Brit newcomers fought to the death in the last round, barely making it by the Monkees, so be ready for another down-to-the-wire clash for this pair of relatively new boy bands. South One Direction vs. Mindless Behavior : This should be a fight to the finish with fans of both groups casting votes like crazy. Mindless had a big win over NKOTBSB and they hope to carry that momentum into the Elite Eight. But 1D fans have also been voting furiously, giving One Direction relatively easy wins over their competition thus far. Voting for the Elite Eight in MTV’s Battle of the Boy Bands runs until noon ET on Wednesday, May 2.
