Matel Introduces ‘Drag Queen’ Barbie With election season in full swing and the controversial issue of gay rights a hot topic in the cut-throat debate arena, everyone from the fast food industry to the music industry and every where in between is chiming in with their two-cents. The latest group to put their hand in the pot is leading doll manufacturer company Matel, who recently introduced the world to the first ever ‘Drag Queen Barbie.’ Just when you thought Barbie played her final role as a heartbroken housewife cheated on by Ken with another man, the Barbie doll takes on its latest character — a drag queen. The drag doll named “Blond Diamond Barbie” is loosely based off the image of The Blonds’ designer Phillipe Blond, who likes to throw on a fabulous party dress every once in a while. The doll comes equipped with a gorgeous sparkly bejeweled cocktail dress, blinged out jewelry, and a white faux-fur coat. Finishing off the dramatic look is long wavy platinum blonde hair and full voluminous lashes. The gender bender doll does not come with an Adam’s apple or mysterious bulge but it does embody the glamorousness of a fierce drag queen. Would you buy this Barbie for your child? Bethany Appleton, Indiana School Teacher, Arrested for Sex with Students

Bethany Appleton – a 28-year old middle school teacher in Shelbyville, Indiana – has been arrested on 13 counts of inappropriate behavior with minors. Foremost among them, Appleton reportedly sleeping with at least one student and of plying many with marijuana and alcohol. According to authorities, a police investigation uncovered several victims between April 2011 and May 2012, as investigators allege Appleton engaged in sexual relations with one victim in her home and provided alcohol and marijuana to others. She is also accused of drinking and smoking with them. Appleton – who was was hired as a mild disabilities teacher at Shelbyville Middle School in 2008 – faces four ounts of sexual misconduct with a minor, along with charges of child seduction, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and maintaining a common nuisance.

Paul Ryan to Run For Vice President With Mitt Romney; GOP Ticket to Campaign Saturday

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney announced today that House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan is his pick for Vice President. The Wisconsin Congressman will be introduced as the V.P. nominee as “The Romney Plan For A Stronger Middle Class” bus tour kicks off in Virginia. Romney is expected to speak at 8:45 a.m. in Norfolk, Va., with a retired military battleship as a backdrop … fittingly the U.S.S. Wisconsin. Two others high on Romney’s short list of VP contenders – former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty, Ohio Sen. Rob Portman and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio – were informed in recent days that they would not be on the ticket. Instead it will be Paul Ryan, 42, already considered a rising star in the Republican Party, is currently the chairman of the U.S. House Budget Committee. He’s been in Congress since 1999 and is best known this session for his controversial budget plan this term that includes an overhaul of Medicare. Democrats have persistently claimed his plan would “end Medicare as we know it,” but the GOP considers Ryan a leading voice on fiscal issues. Both well-versed and telegenic, Ryan has stood by his plan as a solution to an ever-growing deficit and out-of-control entitlement spending. Ryan has made fiscal discipline the touchstone of his tenure; with Ryan at his side, Romney is doubling down on his perceived economic strengths. The choice promises a fierce debate over the size and role of government in America, and Democrats are relishing the chance to take on that fight. Paul Ryan: Good choice by Romney?

Rihanna Fired as Face of Nivea

Rihanna has been nixed as the face of Nivea products. No specific reason or action was cited as the reason, but Stefan Heidenreich, the head of the brand, clearly isn’t a big fan of the controversial singer. Heidenreich publicly expressed disapproval with the skin care line’s decision to have the sexy star as its public face, saying “Rihanna is a no-go.” “I do not understand how to bring the core brand of Nivea in conjunction with Rihanna. Nivea stands for trust, family and reliability,” he added. Heidenreich told the singer’s ads shot last year – see one of our all-time favorite Rihanna pictures above – should have never been released. Ouch. Tell us how you really feel. For her part, Rihanna responded by posting a generic head shot of Heidenreich on her Twitter with the caption, “No caption necessary.” So, yeah. That about sums it up.

Mitt Romney ‘Wimp’ Newsweek Cover: On Point or Over the Line?

Newsweek, which raised more than a few eyebrows this year for its covers proclaiming President Obama the first gay president and for calling his critics dumb, is out with yet another controversial political cover story. This time, they call Mitt Romney a “wimp” in no uncertain terms. “Romney is the genuine article: a true wimp,” Michael Tomasky argues in his cover story, adding that “In some respects, he’s more weenie than wimp.” “Socially inept; often awkwardly ingratiating, at times mocking those ‘below’ him, but almost always getting the situation a little wrong, and never in a sympathetic way.” Romney said the story didn’t bother him though, telling CBS News that “They tried that on George Herbert Walker Bush; he was a pretty great President.” Mitt’s right, as seen in the 1987 issue pictured below (along with a couple of awesome spoofs we saw on the Romney issue for good measure). Calling Romney a wimp is probably a little much, but the cover and story underscore what a lot of his critics say makes him a weak candidate. Namely, that he’s a paper-pushing corporate technocrat devoid of personality and unable to relate to regular people, and who has no core beliefs. His supporters will vocally dispute this and laud his achievements and positive traits, of course … while others may accept it and vote for him anyway. What do you think: Is Mitt Romney a wimp?

Tyler The Creator Says He’s Known That Frank Ocean Was Gay For A Long Time With all the discussion surrounding Frank Ocean’s confessional about his sexuality, Odd Future’s Tyler, The Creator said his friend told him about his sexuality a long time ago. Last year the controversial rapper became embroiled in a public spat with Tegan and Sara after the Canadian indie duo claimed that his lyrics were filled with “homophobic slurs.” Tyler responded by suggesting that the sisters, both of whom are openly gay, might “Need Some Hard Dick.” Yesterday, on social media site Formspring, Tyler said: “hahaha yeah, ive know for a while, he told me a long time ago. it was just funny cause i was getting bashed as a homophobe or whatever and i kept saying dude how am i one? i have gay friends like what the fuck leave me alone haha. yeah thats my nigga tho, shit is hard for him but he did that.” We wonder HOW Frank let Tyler know that he was gay.
