Now, Havoc and Prodigy are set to swing by MTV’s “RapFix Live” on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET to talk about the November release, which they’ll follow-up with their self-titled ninth studio album. The duo will chop it up with Sway about their latest projects, as well as their catalog of classic albums, including 1995’s The Infamous and 1996’s Hell on Earth. Those records ushered the two Queensbridge, New York, MCs to the forefront of the East Coast’s gritty street rap movement. And judging from the crowd’s reaction at this summer’s Rock the Bells Festival , hits like “Shook Ones II” haven’t lost much steam. But the Infamous Mobb Deep have been busy both in and out of the studio. Last month, Hav and Prodigy inked a new deal with Sony’s RED Distribution to release new projects via their Infamous Records imprint. And Prodigy is now a published author. After the release of 2006’s Blood Money, Prodigy served a stint behind bars , emerging this year with the controversial My Infamous Life: The Autobiography of Mobb Deep’s Prodigy, a book that brought back a flood of memories from the heyday of mid-90s rap. M-O-B-B will share the “RFL” couch with Tennessee rapper Gangsta Boo, perhaps best known for her lyrics on Three Six Mafia’s 2000 album, When the Smoke Clears: Sixty 6, Sixty 1, as well as her own solo projects. In addition to a new feature alongside Eminem on “Throw It Up,” the explosive single from Yelawolf’s Radioactive album, Gangsta Boo is gearing up to release an EP with Drumma Boy in February. “I’d like to have some milk. Please, please give me some.” This request from Michael Jackson was eerily rehashed in the involuntary manslaughter trial of Dr. Conrad Murray Friday. Of course, it wasn’t really milk he wanted. That was MJ’s name for thee powerful anesthetic Propofol, which he received via IV, and the one substance he believed offered what he desperately craved: sleep. Dr. Conrad Murray relayed to detectives details of Jackson’s last hours in a taped police interview played to jurors. The interview took place two days after MJ died. Murray conceded that he’d been giving Jackson Propofol almost every day, though he claims only a very small dose (25 mg) was given in the pop icon’s last days. As Jackson struggled to sleep, Murray says he urged the pop star to just close his eyes and meditate, but that seemed to work for only a few minutes at a time. Perhaps because of energy supplements Jackson was taking from another doctor, Propofol “was the only thing that worked for him,” Murray says in the recording. “I constantly cautioned him that it was an artificially induced sleep and he needed to go back to a natural pattern” and “be on your own, with milk and cookies.” Medical professionals have testified that it is unheard of to administer Propofol in somebody’s bedroom. It is normally used as an anesthetic during surgery. Murray told detectives that MJ insisted it was crucial he get enough sleep because he was rehearsing for his “This Is It” concert tour that was only days away. “He complained, he was going to have to cancel the (rehearsal and possibly the tour),” Murray says . “It would not satisfy his fans if he wasn’t rested well.” “I’m trying to do it the best I can and I’m trying to get help,” Murray says. Murray says he stepped away very briefly to go to the bathroom on June 25, 2009, and when he came back, the King of Pop had stopped breathing. He says CPR was unsuccessful, so he called 911 . He says paramedics were unable to revive Jackson, so he had him transferred to UCLA Medical Center, where doctors tried for an hour to revive him. “I love Mr. Jackson, he was my friend and he opened up to me in different ways and I wanted to help him as much as I can,” Murray told the detectives. “I was trying to wean him off the Propofol.” Defense attorneys have made the controversial assertion that Michael Jackson himself took the fatal dose of drugs that morning when Murray left the room. Murray’s girlfriends, including Sade Anding and Nicole Alvarez , have cast doubt on that theory given their timeline of phone calls made that day, though.

At this year’s Urbanworld Film Festival poet, professor and co-founder of the Black Arts Movement Sonia Sanchez screened her documentary Shaking Loose Memories . The film is directed by Jamal Joseph and combines interviews with Sanchez and performances of her poems by Amiri Baraka, T.C Carson and others. Troy Davis was executed last night (September 22nd) in Jackson, Georgia for being convicted of killing an off-duty Savannah police officer, and several celebrities reacted strongly via Twitter. His case received international attention after an informer’s testimony that helped convict him turned out to be false, and several witnesses recanted. Davis was supposed to die by lethal injection last night at 7 pm, but it was delayed as the Supreme Court reviewed his case. His appeal for a reprieve was denied, and Davis was pronounced dead at 11:08 pm. Davis was 42. Davis’ lawyer stated, “Tonight the state of Georgia legally lynched an innocent man. Tonight I witnessed something tragic.” Many others agree and call Davis’ execution a miscarriage of justice. Troy Davis’ case has been one of the top trending topics throughout social media. It’s gained international attention, with renowned people in support of Davis such as Pope Benedict XVI, Desmond Tutu, and former President Jimmy Carter, entertainers such as Susan Sarandon, Harry Belafonte, NAACP, and more. “Two decades ago, a jury convicted Davis on two counts of aggravated assault and one each of possessing a firearm during a crime, obstructing a law enforcement officer and murder. The latter charge led, soon thereafter, to his death sentence. Mr. Davis is set to be executed for murdering a Savannah police officer in 1989. And regardless of the 663,000 signatures and rallies in support to free Mr. Davis, the parole board denied him clemency and he’s set to be put to death tomorrow (September 21, 2011) at 7pm by lethal injection at at a state prison in Jackson, Georgia.. This such a sad case because there’s not sufficient evidence to say that he committed the crime and witness have recanted their statements several times. Some moviegoers may recognize Stellan Skarsgård as the frequent Lars von Trier collaborator who this November will appear in Melancholia , his fourth film from the controversial Danish director. But more mainstream audiences will recognize the 60-year-old Swedish actor (and father of True Blood breakout actor Alexander Skarsgård) for his work in five mega-blockbusters in the past five years including Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest , Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End , Mamma Mia! , Angels & Demons and most recently Thor , which starred Skarsgård as a scientist who ultimately befriends Chris Hemsworth’s title character.
