Hey, boo, hey ! I cannot even be objective right now. I love Regina Hall. I’ve thought she was talented since she portrayed “Candy” on The Best Man and after watching her in a string of box office hits and some pretty hilarious interviews with Kevin Hart in promotion for their film About Last Night, I thought ‘Oh, Regina seems cool…and funny as all get out.’ So naturally, when MadameNoire was offered the opportunity to speak to her, I jumped at it, hoping she’d be as nice and personable chatting as she seemed to be. She definitely was, or is. I left the conversation confirming all those assumptions but also adding intelligent and inspirational to the list. She’s a joy, really. See more at: MadameNoire

HIV Positive Black Women Receive More Care Than Men HIV/AIDS is a MAJOR issue in the black community …. According to News One: HIV is a crisis in African-American communities that continues to threaten the health and well-being of Black men and women across the United States. Further, the community faces the most severe burden of HIV and AIDS than any racial/ethnic group in the nation. As a grim reminder of these unvarnished facts, Feb. 7 marks the observance of the 14th annual National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day designed to remind Americans that HIV remains a critical public health concern in African-American communities more than thirty years after the first AIDS cases were identified. Additionally, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released new data released Thursday showing that additional efforts are needed to ensure that individuals who are infected with HIV receive the care and treatment they need. “The day provides an important opportunity to talk about testing in our community,” Dr. Donna Hubbard McCree, associate director for health equity at the division of HIV/AIDS Prevention at the CDC told NewsOne. “And also it’s a community mobilization initiative. It’s really about getting the message out. ‘I am my brother or sister’s keeper’ was the original theme, but the real specific focal points are around getting educated, tested and getting treatment. It’s a way to keep the conversation about HIV and the affect that it’s having in African-American communities on the table.” These are the facts: African Americans now bear the greatest burden of HIV in the United States, accounting for nearly half of the more than 1.1 million Americans living with HIV and nearly half of those who have died with AIDS since the beginning of the epidemic, the CDC says. Among African Americans, just as in other racial and ethnic groups, gay and bisexual men, especially young men, are the most impacted population, accounting for the majority of new infections. African-American women also bear a large, disproportionate burden, with almost two-thirds of new infections in 2010 among women occurring among Black women. The harsh numbers signal that improvements need to be made not only in diagnosing individuals with HIV, but also ensuring they are engaged in care and treated effectively to keep their virus under control. Published in CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, the new data examines the percentage of African Americans diagnosed with HIV infection who were receiving care and treatment in 2010. Among Blacks who had been diagnosed with HIV, 75 percent were linked to care, 48 percent stayed in care, 46 percent were prescribed antiretroviral therapy, and 35 percent achieved viral suppression (i.e., the virus is under control at a level that helps keep people healthy and reduces the risk of transmitting the virus to others), the report shows. Black males had lower levels of care and viral suppression than Black females, and those who were younger (under the age of 25) had lower levels than those who were older. “Our data tells us that treatment can help people with HIV live longer, healthier lives and helps prevent the transmission of the virus to others,” McCree said. “We’re excited about these data because it gives us a snapshot around what’s going on around treatment and care within African-American communities. And given the disproportionate rates of HIV within African-American communities, it’s critical that we make individuals aware of their status so they can get their virus under control.” Discuss…

Miss New York Nina Davuluri is under fire after she was reportedly caught on tape calling the reigning Miss America, Mallory Hagan, fat as … expletive. According to Page Six , another beauty queen recorded Davuluri blasting Hagan, who was Miss New York a year ago before winning the Miss America crown. Nina Davuluri allegedly made the comments in a hotel room after being named the Empire State’s top beauty pageant queen on July 16 on Staten Island. “Davuluri invited friends back to her hotel room after her win,” a source said. “A girl in the next room overheard the conversation, and was so offended she decided to tape it. A friend of Davuluri’s was supposedly heard making racist remarks.” “Davuluri is allegedly heard on the tape blasting Miss America, ‘Mallory’s fat as f–k.’ The [tape] has been making the rounds of pageant contestants and officials.” The source adds that Davuluri’s attacks on Mallory Hagan “were brought to the board of the Miss America pageant,” and it looks like the tape is legit. Davuluri reportedly sent a Facebook message to Hagan denying offensive comments on her part, but not denying that remarks were made. She writes: “I want to apologize for the awful statements made by people in my room.” “There were people who claimed to be my supporters and said things I never agreed with, nor supported. I was never a part of the words or statements that may have been hurtful.” “I’m sorry if someone said something that was inappropriate.” A new Miss America will be crowned Sunday night. Who will succeed Mallory? We have no idea, but here’s hoping Theresa Vail finishes better than Nina.
SMH. How you gonna disrespect the legend that is Chaka “I’m Every Woman” Khan ? Via RadarOnline reports : When Lindsay Lohan moved from the Betty Ford Center to Cliffside Malibu she joined another famous face, legendary singer Chaka Khan — who RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned left the treatment center early because she couldn’t stand Lilo’s diva behavior! According to a source who attended rehab with Lindsay, 27, the Mean Girls actress arrived to Cliffside just after Chaka and was immediately disruptive to everybody in the program and when Chaka tried to set her on the straight and narrow, the conversation ended in a complete blowout. “Chaka was really cool about everything at Cliffside, but Lindsay just pushed all of her buttons to the point where she was aggravated and tired of Lindsay’s sh*t,” the former patient told Radar in an exclusive interview. “Lindsay was just doing stupid stuff for attention, so Chaka told her she was childish and told her to grow up. She never lost it, but started yelling at Lindsay. Told her to knock it off, asking her if she came to rehab to get well, or just to piss around.” Things got so heated between the two that the source tells Radar 60-year-old Chaka eventually had it with Lindsay, telling several of the patients she “hated” Lindsay. “Chaka was so annoyed with Lindsay. It got so bad that she refused to get in the same car with her or go to the same meetings with Lindsay,: the source said. “So Cliffside had to change everything up schedule wise so the two were never together.” Chaka — who has admittedly struggled with drug abuse and alcoholism in the past, spending several stints in rehab centers — left Cliffside a week early because she couldn’t stand Lindsay, the source claims. “Chaka told me she was leaving early because she couldn’t stand Lindsay,” the source told Radar. “Lindsay caused such an uproar that administration basically said to the patients, ‘If you can’t take it and you want to leave, leave.’ The next day a guy that had already left because of Lindsay came back and helped Chaka with her bags and stuff and took her from Cliffside.” Siding with Chaka, the source said they feel bad Lindsay drove so many away from the treatment center. “Chaka’s a strong woman and her time at Cliffside did help her get a lot better. She’s a positive lady and quite interesting, in a good way,” the source told Radar. “She just needed the strength and at the end of the day she got what she was looking for.” Calls to Chaka’s rep for comment went unreturned. There will be some serious hell for Blohan if anything bad happens to Chaka Khan. Serious. Itchbay better watch her back. WENN Continue reading →
