Matthew Fox was definitely NOT drunk when he posted for his mug shot in his DUI case. We know this because he had the booking photo taken June 29, nearly two months after his arrest (May 4) and one month after his plea deal (June 1). The cops’ camera was broken May 4. Seriously. So, for posterity: Fox returned to the Deschutes County Adult Jail in Bend, Oregon, to produce this insane celebrity mug shot for the county’s files, even with his case settled. The actor struck a plea deal with prosecutors, pleading no contest to DUI and agreeing to drug and alcohol treatment in exchange for not serving jail time. If Fox complies with the court’s orders, the entire case will go away. In addition to mug shots, you can also see Fox in the upcoming Alex Cross trailer .

NAACP Protests Proposed Gun Offender Registry Law In Wealthy African-American County A law that would require members of the community convicted of gun-related crimes to check in with police every six months is in the works in Prince George’s County, Maryland. The NAACP chapter of Prince George’s County, which is the wealthiest African-American majority county in the nation, says they are not havin it. The Prince George’s County’s chapter of the NAACP is hoping to stop County Executive Rushern L. Baker III (D) from signing a countywide gun offender registry program into law, claiming the law is unconstitutional. The registry program, passed June 5 by the County Council with a 9-0 vote, would establish a police-kept registry for those convicted of gun-related crimes who would have to check in with police every six months for three years in addition to providing information such as phone numbers and where they live and work. Legislation for the registry was introduced by County Councilwoman Karen R. Toles (D-Dist. 7) of Suitland and co-sponsored by the entire council to serve as “a deterrent to gun offenders” to reduce the amount of gun-related crimes and homicides in the county, Toles has said. Members of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People met June 21 to discuss their opposition, saying the bill violates the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, which prohibits governments from depriving a person’s life, liberty and property without first taking certain steps to ensure fairness. In addition, they are citing flaws in similar legislation in Baltimore for a gun-offender registry that is currently up for potential appeal after a city circuit court judge said April 6 that the legislation was unconstitutional and too vague. Some of these folks believe that Barack Obama won the election in 2008 due to “Black Ignorance”…thoughts? Via NY Times: STEUBENVILLE, Ohio — This is the land of die-hard Democrats — mill workers, coal miners and union members. They have voted party line for generations, forming a reliable constituency for just about any Democrat who decides to run for office. But when it comes to President Obama, a small part of this constituency balks. “Certain precincts in this county are not going to vote for Obama,” said John Corrigan, clerk of courts for Jefferson County, who was drinking coffee in a furniture shop downtown one morning last week with a small group of friends, retired judges and civil servants. “I don’t want to say it, but we all know why.” A retired state employee, Jason Foreman, interjected, “I’ll say it: it’s because he’s black.” For nearly three and a half years, a black family has occupied the White House, and much of the time what has been most remarkable about that fact is how unremarkable it has become to the country. While Mr. Obama will always be known to the history books as the country’s first black president, his mixed-race heritage has only rarely surfaced in visible and explicit ways amid the tumult of a deep recession, two wars and shifting political currents. But as Mr. Obama braces for what most signs suggest will be a close re-election battle, race remains a powerful factor among a small minority of voters — especially, research suggests, those in economically distressed regions with high proportions of white working-class residents, like this one. Mr. Obama barely won this county in 2008 — 48.9 percent to John McCain’s 48.7 percent. Four years earlier, John Kerry had an easier time here, winning 52.3 percent to 47.2 percent over George W. Bush. Given Ohio’s critical importance as a swing state that will most likely be won or lost by the narrowest of margins, the fact that Mr. Obama’s race is a deal-breaker for even a small number of otherwise loyal Democrats could have implications for the final results. Obama advisers acknowledged that some areas of the state presented more political challenges than others, but said that the racial sentiment was not a major source of worry. The campaign’s strategy relies in large part on a strong performance in cities and suburban areas to make up for any falloff elsewhere among Democrats in this or other corners of Ohio. Researchers have long struggled to quantify racial bias in electoral politics, in part because of the reliance on surveys, a forum in which respondents rarely admit to prejudice. In 50 interviews in this county over three days last week, 5 people raised race directly as a reason they would not vote for Mr. Obama. In those conversations, voters were not asked specifically about race, but about their views on the candidates generally. Those who raised the issue did so of their own accord. “I’ll just come right out and say it: he was elected because of his race,” said Sara Reese, a bank employee who said she voted for Ralph Nader in 2008, even though she usually votes Democrat. Did her father, a staunch Democrat and retired mill worker, vote for Mr. Obama? “I’d have to say no. I don’t think he could do it,” she said. But the main quarrels Democratic voters here have with Mr. Obama have nothing to do with race. They include his rejection of one proposed route for the Keystone pipeline, a stance they say will harm this area, whose backbone, the Ohio River, is lined with metal mills and coal mines. Stephanie Montgomery, who is black and a graduate of Franciscan University in Steubenville, said her race came up so often in her job search in this area that she developed a technique for recognizing when it was happening. The sign: when warmth on the phone turns cool in person, and “they lose eye contact with you.” “You almost need a corporate environment to get a fair shot,” she said while standing at a job fair in the Steubenville mall. She said that she did not vote for Mr. Obama in 2008 because she preferred Mr. McCain’s more conservative platform, but that Mr. Obama seemed to be a lightning rod for criticism, in part because of his race. “He’s everything they hate,” she said, referring to ultraconservatives. “An affirmative-action baby. Got the Nobel Prize without deserving it.” Many who raised race as a concern cast Mr. Obama as a flawed candidate carried to victory by blacks voting for the first time. Others expressed concerns indirectly, through suspicions about Mr. Obama’s background and questions about his faith.nn“He was like, ‘Here I am, I’m black and I’m proud,’ ” said Lesia Felsoci, a bank employee drinking a beer in an Applebee’s. “To me, he didn’t have a platform. Black people voted him in, that’s why he won. It was black ignorance.” Louis Tripodi, a baker in Steubenville who voted for Mr. Obama, blames talk radio and Republican rhetoric for encouraging such attitudes. “ ‘He’s a Muslim, he’s a socialist, he’s not born in this country,’ ” he said. “It’s got a lot to do with race.” Race has also helped Mr. Obama. It increased voter turnout among blacks in 2008, and some younger voters said it was part of why they voted for him. But now that history has been made, it is less of a pull. Discuss…

DeKalb County Schools has lifted a ban on marching band activities that it instituted in December in the wake of the hazing death of Florida A&M drum major Robert Champion, a Southwest DeKalb High School graduate. In making the announcement, DeKalb County Schools Superintendent Cheryl Atkinson said the school district will continue to look into reports of inappropriate behavior in marching bands. The investigation is focused on activities of adults in charge of marching band programs. DeKalb County’s investigation began after two alleged hazing incidents at FAMU involving marching band students who had attended DeKalb Schools, including Champion. Parents and students were alarmed when the suspension was announced and worried that the action could lead to fewer scholarship opportunities. Read the full story at the AJC.com. Wait a minute…is that stubble on her chin?!?!?!?! A Cobb County woman is accused of marrying her second husband before she divorced her first. But it wasn’t until she allegedly tried to steal a $49,000 truck that she was caught. Diane Tucker, 48, married Edwin Windelberg in Gwinnett County Jan. 16, 2004, according to an arrest warrant obtained by the AJC. Then on April 19, 2007, Tucker married Cesar Alexandro Saldivar in Cobb County. But Tucker didn’t divorce Windelberg until April 7th, 2008, nearly a year after becoming another man’s bride, according to the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office. When Tucker completed an application for a marriage license in Cobb County probate court, she allegedly stated she had been married one time and that she had divorced in 2001, the arrest warrant states. Saldivar realized in 2009 that Tucker was allegedly married to two men at the same time. Authorities discovered the crime Oct. 6, the day after Tucker was arrested for allegedly trying to steal a pickup truck. In a separate arrest warrant, Tucker is accused of writing a $49,484 check to Hardy Chevrolet in Paulding County for a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado K150. Then, she allegedly stopped payment on the check and claimed she never received the title, the warrant states. Tucker allegedly received the title and pawned it for $5,000 in Cobb County. Tucker, of Powder Springs, faces charges of bigamy, making false statements and theft by deception, according to Cobb County jail records. She remained in jail Monday afternoon. ‘I don’t think you should deify any human being,’ ‘Harry Potter’ star told MTV News last year. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Daniel Radcliffe Photo: Stephen Lovekin/Getty Images The transition from child star to adult star often comes with some hiccups. In a recent interview with GQ, “Harry Potter” actor Daniel Radcliffe admits that there was a time when he found himself drinking a little too much. “I became so reliant on [alcohol] to enjoy stuff,” he said of the time during shooting on 2009’s “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.” Since then, the 21-year-old has slowed down, telling the magazine that he prefers to have a “quiet life.” But Radcliffe has certainly been open about why he doesn’t see himself as a role model. Last year, he told MTV News, “I don’t look at myself as a role model. I would never place myself on that pedestal, obviously. If other people want to place me there, that’s up to them,” he explained. “I would advise them not to because I don’t think you should deify any human being. I think it’s something that I’ve grown more comfortable with the idea.” And despite his impressive career and all of the charitable work he has done with organizations like the Trevor Project, Radcliffe suggested someone else his fans should look to for guidance instead. “The thing I always say and I’ve often said in interviews, I think if people want a role model, Harry Potter’s a very, very good role model. And he’s something that won’t change,” Radcliffe added. “He’ll be fixed in that permanent lovely way, and so those are the role models you want. “I’m gonna grow old and get fat and stuff,” he added with a good-natured laugh. “And so you don’t want to make me a role model.” While Radcliffe tells GQ the paparazzi never caught him inebriated, when MTV News sat down with him, he did recall a certain pap shot of him smoking a cigarette that did get taken. But the star was willing to shrug it all off. “It’s a terrible thing to admit to, but yes I’m gonna go to help [for smoking]. That stuff, you know, is part and parcel of the job and it comes with the territory and you have to let it wash over you,” he said of the photographers.
