Paula Abdul Has Got to Dance

Not all viewers believe this season of American Idol has been a bore. But we can all agree on one thing: it’s been far less nutty than seasons past. That’s because Paula Abdul couldn’t reach a new contract with Fox last August and walked away from the show. However, there’s good news on the slightly insane judge front: Abdul is returning to reality TV! She’ll serve as producer and lead judge on Got to Dance , a CBS competition that premieres in early 2010. According to a press release, the series will cover everything from “ballroom to break dance, bhangra to ballet, and tap to tango.” Rambling, incoherent critiques and a lot of comments on the contestants’ outfits? Don’t worry: Paula will have all that covered, too.

Audrina Patridge: Topless in Ralph

The Hills star Audrina Patridge appears in the new issue of Ralph magazine. As expected, she’s wearing little or no clothing. Little else needs to be said in all honesty. Ralph terms her Queen of The Hills, which implies that Ralph does not watch the show, as Audrina is kind of useless. However, that actually speaks highly of Ralph . Anyway, here’s their cover photo of the reality TV star … Audrina Patridge in Ralph … hot or not? We’re undecided . Hmm. Either this racy photo shoot was a direct ripoff of Maxim’s topless spread of Audrina last September, or Ralph and Maxim have the same parent company. We could look that up right now, as we are in possession of a working Internet connection, but we really don’t care, and imagine you aren’t interested either. Instead, click to enlarge the Audrina Patridge pictures below. Indulge.

Crystal Bowersox’s Friends Says She’s Earned ‘American Idol’ Finale Spot

Crystal Bowersox’s Friends Says She’s Earned ‘Idol’ Finale Spot By Gil Kaufman Crystal Bowersox visits her hometown of Toledo, Ohio Photo: Getty Images Though she didn’t appear to have the same kind of moment Lee DeWyze did on Tuesday, Crystal Bowersox’s did plenty to earn herself a slot in next week’s season-nine finale , according to her hometown friends. “Crystal left no doubt in my mind last night that she should win this,” said John Schafer, who has booked Bowersox at Maumee, Ohio’s Village Idiot bar dozens of times. “[Her] ‘Maybe I’m Amazed’ was a chilling rendition of McCartney’s song that I’d bet he’d be proud of.” Perhaps he’s biased, but Schafer disagreed with the judges on their assessment of DeWyze’s take on Leonard Cohen’s oft-covered “Hallelujah,” calling it a “pale effort.” Even though he’s not a big Melissa Etheridge fan, Schafer thought Bowersox nailed her cover of “Come to My Window,” which he suspected would also make the original’s author proud. And while he thought Lee chose well with his cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man,” he again felt it didn’t do much with the song and wasn’t that impressive. “I guess I’m saying that Crystal’s version of both songs could be substituted for the originals, and Lee’s could not,” he said. Nate Woodward, a cook and bartender at the Village Idiot and a good friend of Bowersox’s, was in the audience for Tuesday night’s performance. It was his second trip out to Los Angeles to see her on the show, and he agreed that MamaSox should be onstage next week. But he also admitted that it felt like DeWyze did a better job than Crystal, though he said she was clearly superior to Casey James. “I’m pretty sure she’ll make it through to the top two,” Woodward said, still a bit groggy after getting an early wake-up call to discuss the show. “I thought both of Crystal’s songs were awesome,” he said, referring to the Etheridge tune and an Ellen DeGeneres-picked cover of McCartney’s solo hit. Woodward said the studio audience seemed clearly stacked with screaming teenage DeWyze fans, with a smaller contingent of Bowersox backers and a much less-vocal group of James supporters. He didn’t get a chance to talk to Crystal after the show, but Woodward said he spoke to her after Monday’s rehearsal, and she was feeling “super pumped” about both songs. “The reaction in the room as great,” he said about the studio audience’s feeling about Bowersox’s songs. “Everyone around us was talking about how well she did. I’m gonna be nervous as hell tonight. But hopefully she makes it through, and it will be exciting.” How do you think Crystal did on “Idol” Tuesday night? Share your reviews in the comments. B.o.B Says All City Chess Club Side Project Is ‘Fun And Creative’

Supergroup also includes Lupe Fiasco, Asher Roth, J. Cole, Charles Hamilton, the Cool Kids, Diggy Simmons, Wale and Blu. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Steven Roberts B.o.B Photo: MTV News Last month, Lupe Fiasco introduced a new super crew via Twitter when he sent a dispatch about the All City Chess Club. The Chicago lyricist wrote that the members included himself, B.o.B , Asher Roth , J. Cole, Charles Hamilton, the Cool Kids, Diggy Simmons, Wale and indie rapper Blu. B.o.B told MTV News that the members are already brainstorming ideas. “The All City Chess Club is something that Lupe had the idea about, and me and Charles Hamilton were at a show, and he came up with the idea and talked to us about it, and we were down,” B.o.B said of the group’s genesis. “I feel like the respect level is mutual with all of us. And I’ve already done songs with Charles Hamilton, Lupe and Asher Roth. Basically, the whole concept of it is to have a project, a freelance project, that’s something fun and creative.” So far, nothing is concrete, and Lupe, Cole, Roth, the Cool Kids, Blu and Wale are all working on their own albums, while Hamilton is looking to resurrect his dormant career and Diggy Simmons is just introducing himself as an artist. The majority of the members are alumni of XXL ‘s Freshmen 10 lists. Roth, B.o.B. Blu, Wale and Hamilton graced the cover in ’09, while Cole was a part of the group that landed on the cover this year. Christina Aguilera: I’m Not Lady Gaga!

Christina Aguilera isn’t just back on the music scene. The singer, whose new album drops on June 8, is back to being her sexy, provocative self. Her new music video is hot; her cover shot for GQ is naked … and the haters are coming out in full force. As she struts her seductive, eccentric stuff again, critics are comparing Christina to the artist that, in some ways, has taken over her spot in the industry: Lady Gaga. What does Aguilera think of this comparison? “I’m in it for the long haul, and a decade later in my career, I have nothing to prove,” Christina says in the latest issue of Billboard . “To anyone who wants to be negative, it’s like, ‘I’m obviously relevant enough to you for you to care and to talk and to evoke negative feelings inside of you.’ At this point in my career, I’m over any and all weird comparisons or negativity.” Also in the article, Christina says that making hit singles is not what inspires her: “There was actually a song that the label really wanted me to record, and I just said ‘no,’ because it didn’t fit on the album – it wasn’t creatively inspiring to me… when it jeopardizes my integrity too much I can’t do it.” But when it comes to taking her clothes off, Xtina can get down with that! Thank goodness.

Sophie Monk’s Jobless Boobs Are Chilly

I think Sophie Monk is beginning to get a little desperate to prove to me that she’s not just a jobless hottie and that she actually can find work. Here she is out the other day showing off her lovely cleavage while she carries around an issue of GoreZone magazine with her hot little face on the cover. I don’t really give a crap if a chick has a job or not, boobs are boobs, and I’m just glad that Sophie brought hers out on a chilly day. Nipples!
