WrestleMania Match Will Be ‘Biggest Of All Time,’ The Rock Says

‘There’s not a worried bone in my body,’ Dwayne Johnson tells MTV News of getting back in the ring with John Cena. By Eric Ditzian Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Photo: MTV News Not long after Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson returned to the WWE last year — and shortly before the wrestler-turned-actor-turned-wrestler again unleashed the People’s Elbow at WrestleMania XXVII, the man himself promised MTV News he’d inflict some serious damage on someone during the biggest night in wrestling. “I’m going to take my fist and lay it across somebody’s lips and take my boot — which is a size 14, so it’s a big boot — and stick it straight up somebody’s ass,” he bragged . The ass in question turned out, in fact, to be two asses: John Cena’s and the Miz’s. Both men felt the wrath of the Rock at WrestleMania. On April 1 at WrestleMania XXVIII, the Rock is set to do it all over again — except now he’s got a very specific target in mind. “Here’s the thing about John Cena: He’s such a good girl, really good woman,” the Rock cracked to us while promoting his upcoming action flick, “G.I. Joe: Retaliation.” “At the end of the day, he knocked on my door, I’m gonna answer it. I’ve got a size 15 boot, and it’s gonna go right up his stink. Or his lady parts. Either one.” Let’s not ask how his feet mysteriously grew in the past year. Instead, we shall dwell on the creativity of the Rock’s smack talk (even as we give him a free pass on that less-than-tasteful undermining of Cena’s manhood, because this is the WWE, after all; what else would you expect?). “I can’t wait,” the Rock added. “There’s not a worried bone in my body. My goal is to put on the biggest match of all time, and I’m going to do that.” Will you watch the Rock back in action? Let us know in the comments!

‘Hunger Games’ Girl On Fire Outfit: Meet The Designer

In this week’s Hobnobbing, we catalog Judianna Makovsky’s iconic looks. By Amy Wilkinson Jennifer Lawrence in the girl on fire costume in “Hunger Games” Photo: Lionsgate The Web nearly caught fire Thursday (January 19) when Entertainment Weekly debuted the first image of ” Hunger Games ” characters Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) in their parade costumes, snapped mere moments before District 12’s heroine becomes (quite literally) the Girl on Fire (we see you with that lit fuse, Cinna!). Of course, fans of Suzanne Collins’ best-selling novel know that the textured black suits are meant to reflect the duo’s coal-mining community, brought to sartorial life by their savvy stylist (played by Lenny Kravitz). “This is one of those moments where Cinna’s character syncs up with the creativity of our costume designer Judianna Makovsky,” director Garry Ross told EW. As if sitting front row at a Capitol-sponsored fashion show, fans have slowly but surely been treated to the growing catalog of Makovsky’s “Hunger Games” looks — from Effie Trinket’s lavender, silk brocade gown recently revealed on Capitol Couture to Katniss’ and Peeta’s futuristic training uniforms . Even the most casual cinephile should recognize Makovsky’s work. The Oscar nominee (and frequent Ross collaborator) is a Hollywood veteran with nearly 30 years of experience crafting iconic period and present-day looks for some of the silver screen’s biggest projects. After toiling as a wardrobe assistant on films like “The Cotton Club” and “Dick Tracy,” Makovsky took the lead, whipping together wardrobes for Tom Hanks’ “Big” (which Ross wrote and co-produced) and “The Quick and the Dead.” She earned her first Oscar nomination for Ross’ 1999 retrosplosion “Pleasantville,” starring Tobey Maguire and Reese Witherspoon as two teens who time-travel back to the 1950s, necessitating more sweater sets and curve-hugging skirts than an Ann Taylor outlet. The result was an eye-popping collection of richly saturated confections, worthy of recognition by the Academy and the Costume Designer’s Guild. An Oscar-nominated semester at Hogwarts followed (yes, Makovsky dressed Harry, Ron and Hermione in “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”) before she reteamed with Ross for the 2004 equestrian classic “Seabiscuit” (starring then-up-and-comer Elizabeth Banks, a.k.a. Effie Trinket); the costumer earned her third Oscar nom for the film’s Depression-era garb. A mishmash of films followed, including “National Treasure,” “The Last Airbender” and “X-Men: The Last Stand” (perhaps the film in which she perfected her bodysuit construction), before she once again signed on with Ross for “The Hunger Games.” With several outfits yet to be seen from the March 23 release, including an unfettered view of Katniss’ glitzy interview gown, we can only expect the best from Makovsky. Could another Oscar nomination be in her dystopian future? What do you think about the “Hunger Games” costumes so far? Is Common The New King Of All Media? [EXCLUSIVE]

See original here:

Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr.  has turned multitasking into an art form. One day he is sitting on a panel with Robin Williams , Elijah Wood and Hank Azaria trading jokes about their frosty, eco-friendly new movie Happy Feet 2 . The next day the artist more commonly known as…Common… is in the studio finishing up his ninth album, The Dreamer The Believer . Between all of this he is promoting his memoirs “One Day It’ll All Make Sense” and a new TV Show, “Hell On Wheels”, where he plays a freed slave working on the railroads in the 1800s. More than Common…Extraordinary! How does someone keep all of these disparate interests straight in their head, especially coming from an industry that places a premium on being “real”? “You go to those different places inside of you,” Common tells TheUrbandaily.com between bites of his lunch at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. “I think a lot of us as human beings express these different qualities; love, anger, fear. All those things…joy. The way I was raised I came up seeing the streets but I was also educated in private school. So I’ve been able to express myself in different ways.” The cliche is that luck favors the prepared but it’s still an impressive feat to have a book, an album, a movie and a television series coming out in the same quarter. However, Common is humble about the whole convergence, chalking it up to an unseen hand at work that is certainly not the illuminati. “Everything is happening when it’s supposed to,” he says. “It’s God’s divine order that all this came out at the same time. I did Happy Feet 2 a year and some ago. The album was supposed to come out earlier and it’s coming out in December. I thank God for the way people are reading the book and now I’m on a panel with Robin Williams and Elijah Wood. This is what I do and I love it.” In Happy Feet 2 Common voices a penguin named Seymour. His son Atticus is a little b-boy that would give Chilly Willy a run for his money on the mic.  With this role Common joined a growing list of rappers voicing cartoons like Queen Latifah , Fat Joe and Xzibi t all because a previous opportunity fell through. “[Director] George Miller and I were going to work on J ustice League for Warner Brothers,” he explains. “It didn’t go through but he and I built a good relationship and I hold him in a high regard. I saw Happy Feet and thought it was really fresh. I was impressed and loved it. He called me and said he wanted me to [voice] this character in Happy Feet 2 and I said I’d love to. I haven’t been part of any films where the whole family could go and enjoy it.  This was my first opportunity to do animated voice over work. It was incredible.” Common, who is the father of a 14-year-old girl has personal experience with playing a protective dad. “She was into it but she’s in her teenage stage now. She wanted to go see The Ides Of March , ” he says with a laugh. “But she was happy that I was  a part of the film. Just the other day we were riding around and she said this is everywhere.” Common may have better luck getting her to tune into his AMC series, “Hell On Wheels”.  In the small screen Western Common plays Elam Ferguson, a biracial ex-slave working on the Union Pacific Railroad. “‘Hell on Wheels’ is an incredible show because it deals with all these different people of different cultures and backgrounds coming together to build this railroad,” he shares.  “It’s the American dream being built and [it shows] how some people relate. Some get a long, some don’t, it’s like a reflection of America today. My character is real strong. It’s a character you haven’t seen depicted in film or TV from a Black person in that era. Maybe Denzel in Glory , but it’s still a little different.” All of these many moods seem to manifest themselves on Common’s new album, and rightfully so. On the combative “So Sweet” he boasts lines like “Hip-Hop’s master cleanse and I’m gonna get my sh*t off…”, which is the antithesis of the more ethereal “ Blue Sky.” But like his many outlets in the world of entertainment there are many sides to Common waiting to be revealed. “Doing a song like ‘Sweet’ was just me too, and being able to go in my imagination and be a penguin is also an aspect of my creativity. I always feel proud to represent hip-hop in whatever world we go to.” Happy  Feet 2 will be in theaters on Friday November 18th. Bridget Marquardt In Sexy Halloween Costumes

I think that of all the made up holidays we celebrate over here in North America, halloween has got to be my favourite. Not because it gives children the chance to have fun, get candy and show off their creativity through various costumes, but because it allows chicks to show off their slutty sides in outfits they normally only reserve for Chanukah or their husband’s birthday. Here’s Bridget Marquart showing off her sweet body in a few of this year’s classy offerings. I’ll take…. Any of them. For Your Info: What Is A Cloud And What Does It Mean For You Music Lovers Out There??

Recently the tech world has been absolutely buzzing about “cloud” systems and music. Amazon has charged ahead with theirs, claiming that they need no license from the record labels, and Google is reportedly, furtively, working on their own system as well. If so, this could be the latest power move from the tech scene which could make for yet more waves within the already turbulent music industry. But given that Black music has consistently been so coveted (helped by tech advances in ringtones to downloads) just how could this development affect the young artists behind the creativity and who constitute a chunk of our Black GDP?
