Man Arrested Of Enslaving His Wife In Chains For 10 Years This story is as crazy as the dude in the photo looks!! A West Virginia man was arrested Thursday for allegedly making his wife his slave, abusing her and holding her hostage for almost a decade. Authorities in Jackson County, W.Va., charged Peter Lizon of Leroy, W.Va., with malicious wounding after a woman staying at a domestic-violence shelter filed a criminal complaint, alleging a woman she met was brutally beaten by her husband. In an interview with investigators, the woman said she met Lizon’s wife, Stephanie, 43, while staying at the Family Crisis Intervention Center in Parkersburg, W.Va., and described her as “gaunt and filthy.” According to the criminal complaint, Stephanie told the woman that she recently escaped from her husband, who had kept her chained up with metal padlocks for about 10 years, which tore into the skin on her hands and ankles, leaving noticeable scar tissue. Her feet were also “mutilated and swollen” after her husband allegedly smashed her foot with a scoop attachment from a farm tractor. Lizon reportedly called his wife his “slave”, and whenever he entered the room, he made her kneel down before him. The woman also alleged that Stephanie said her husband caused her to have a miscarriage after her husband hit her in the stomach. She said she buried the corpse of a fully developed infant on their farm. She also said she gave birth to another baby while bound by chains, but neither she nor her now-one-year-old child had received any medical attention. During the investigation, police took 45 photos of Stephanie, showing injuries ranging from severe burns to her breasts and back to broken fingers and bruises all over her body. “It’s amazing what one human being can do to another,” Boggs said, “and that should not ever happen or be allowed to happen. And hopefully this will stop and curtail that, at least in this instance.” Lizon’s attorney, Shawn Bayliss, told WSAZ the allegations against Lizon are false, saying the woman who told police everything has a “feeble mind.” Lizon is being held in the South Central Regional Jail in lieu of $300,000 bail. Chief Boggs told msnbc.com malicious wounding is likely to net Lizon between two to 10 years in prison. According to the criminal complaint, Stephanie escaped from Lizon on June 18 while he was returning farm equipment to a rental store in Parkersburg. He left her and their child in the family’s vehicle. While Lizon was inside, she walked away, leaving her child in the car, and hid in a Zumba dance facility. She then found a ride to the shelter and checked in under the name “Serena Sokol.” Staff at the shelter later determined her true identity. We’re not tryna be mean, but… A federal judge disclosed Friday that former presidential candidate John Edwards has a life-threatening heart condition, a court source confirmed to CNN. Edwards had sought a delay in his criminal corruption trial, scheduled to begin this month. Attorneys and the federal judge met in a North Carolina courtroom Friday afternoon for a status hearing regarding the pending trial of Edwards, a former U.S. senator. Edwards appeared at Friday’s hearing. His lawyers had made the motion for a delay under seal, but some of its details were publicly revealed by the judge in the open hearing. The criminal trial has been delayed until at least March 26, according to the court source. Judge Catherine Eagles said she has been in contact with Edwards’ cardiologist, who recommended a postponement, saying Edwards is scheduled to undergo surgery next month. Edwards has to provide the court with a written medical update by February 28, according to court records. One legal expert, Marcellus McRae, a trial lawyer and former federal prosecutor, said he doubted that Edwards’ illness would influence a jury verdict. “Edwards’s illness may prompt the public, including potential jurors, to view him in a more sympathetic light. However, it is doubtful that this will have any impact on the outcome of his trial,” McRae said. “Given the nature of the charges, his physical condition is of no relevance and he will have in theory recovered by the time the case went to trial in March in any event.” Edwards’ attorneys asked in December to delay his criminal trial, saying he had an unspecified medical issue. Edwards is charged with six felony and misdemeanor counts related to donations to and payments from his failed 2008 presidential campaign. He is accused of conspiracy, issuing false statements and violating campaign contribution laws. He denies any wrongdoing. Edwards’ wife, Elizabeth, died of cancer in December 2010. The couple had separated that year, shortly after Edwards admitted that he had fathered a daughter with Rielle Hunter, who was hired to make documentary videos for his campaign for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination. The fired Betty Ford staff member who accused Lindsay Lohan of battery in a recent altercation now says she will drop her criminal complaint. Not only that, Dawn Holland’s attorney says she will not even cooperate with the authorities in any inquiry into the troubled starlet’s behavior. She says Lindsay should absolutely not be prosecuted. That top has to be a violation of some kind, however . Holland, who was fired after revealing potentially confidential info to TMZ, had said initially that Lindsay’s attack put her on worker’s comp. Holland’s lawyer, Keith Davidson, says she won’t press charges, “nor will she be assisting any further in the investigation or prosecution.” Asked how his client would respond if she’s subpoenaed, Davidson replied, “She won’t.” Basically, no witness equals no case against LiLo . Both recovering addicts, Dawn says she and Lindsay share a bond, and regardless of whether she was clean that night, wants to move on. Davidson says Dawn does not want “in any way shape or form to do anything that would violated Lindsay’s probation or cause an arrest.” “A crime has quite simply not been committed by Ms. Lohan.”
