The youngest G-Unit member touches number 28 on Friday (April 30). This year, the streets have been well fed with Banks’ V5 mixtape (released in December), and “Beamer, Benz or Bentley,” his collaboration with Juelz Santana, is translating from the Rotten Apple to down South and across the world. Just ask any member of the Unit who just came from their international run, during which Banks’ hit threatened to steal the show every night. On Thursday night, Banks headlined a concert at New York’s Nokia Theatre, where his openers were Jackie Chain, Cory Gunz and veteran champs Reflection Eternal. “It feels good,” Banks told MTV News before hitting the stage. “It brings me back to when I first came out. I been headlining. It’s just now I’m back in the loop. I’m a performer. My demeanor, my character from the beginning

B.O.B Wows The Crowd At New York’s SOB’s

MC’s crossover hit ‘Nothin’ on You’ has the crowd singing along loudly. By Steven Roberts B.O.B performs at SOB’s in New York on Monday Photo: MTV News NEW YORK — From the look of things, it seems B.o.B has had to deal with a few identity issues during his young and promising career. Early last year the highly touted Georgia rapper was pegged as an MC to watch , and has often been compared to Andre 3000 of Outkast for his embrace of multiple musical genres. But in the following months, he considered retiring from the music business , reportedly clashed with his label over musical direction and even talked about changing his performing name to his given name, Bobby Ray . However, B.O.B’s ship has righted in recent months, and on Monday night at SOB’s (B.O.B performing at a club called SOB’s is pretty hard to resist), he let the crowd know exactly who he is. In front a packed house for the Rap Radar event, B.O.B performed tracks from his upcoming debut, B.O.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray, (due on April 27) as well as from his past mixtapes . His set seamlessly traversed hip-hop, pop and rock: It opened like a traditional hip-hop show, with the MC rapping and frantically jumping and moving to hype up the crowd. He was then joined onstage by his band, and then made a smooth transition from rap to alt-rock, all without losing the crowd’s admiration or attention. Plenty of hip-hop artists, from Outkast and Kanye West to Lupe Fiasco and Lil Wayne, have transitioned into more experimental and/or rock-influenced music, but B.O.B’s fusion feels natural. His hit single with Bruno Mars, “Nothin’ on You,” is a solid example of that: The song transcends genres and is bringing him to a more mainstream, pop audience. And when he performed the song toward the close of the set on Monday, the crowd sang along loudly. Related Artists B.o.B

Miley Cyrus, Taylor Lautner Win Big At Kids’ Choice Awards

Katy Perry’s sliming and performances from Justin Bieber and Rihanna were among show’s standout moments. By Jocelyn Vena Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus at the Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday Photo: Chris Polk/KCA2010/Getty Images The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards hit Los Angeles on Saturday (March 27) with plenty of performances, surprises and, of course, slime. Kids’ Choice Awards Red Carpet Kevin James opened the show in a sketch with Nick stars Big Time Rush, who gave the host some pointers on how to make the show cool. Their biggest hint: Make sure someone gets slimed. When James hit the stage, “angel” Adam Sandler descended from the ceiling to remind his “I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry” co-star that he could do it. James then took off the tux and started dancing while Sandler sang a little ditty to the tune of KC and the Sunshine Band’s “Get Down Tonight,” with slime released from the floor. Rosario Dawson and Shaun White gave out the first award for Favorite Movie Actor to “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” star Taylor Lautner. “Is this happening? I have to admit, I have always dreamt of winning one of these orange blimps,” Lautner told the crowd. “Seriously. And I can’t believe I’m finally holding one.” James made sure the show was “beyond awesome.” How? By firing free stuff out of a canon. Ladies and gentlemen, this isn’t the Grammys. He told the crowd there were more than 115 million votes, adding that it was a new world record for awards-show fan votes. “Karate Kid” stars Jayden Smith and Jackie Chan showed off some martial-arts moves then handed out the Favorite TV Show award to “iCarly.” Miranda Cosgrove eagerly accepted the award, saying, “Wow, this is amazing. Most of all, I want to say thank you to the fans.” George Lopez and Tyra Banks hit the stage to present Favorite TV Actress. Banks praised the ladies for “chasing their dreams,” and the blimp went to “Wizards of Waverly Place” star Selena Gomez. “I’m so nervous,” she told the crowd. “I know it’s because of you guys I get to live my dream out every day. I’m the luckiest girl in the whole world.” Big Time Rush introduced Rihanna, who took the stage and sang her hit “Hard” in a sparkly black hat and a gray and hot-pink dress. The stage was complete with a band, a tank and military-inspired backup dancers. The medley also included “Rude Boy, with the risqu

Justin Bieber Fans Come From All Over The World To ‘View’ Taping

‘I came all the way from the Philippines to see Justin,’ one fan says. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Rya Backer Justin Bieber performs on “The View” on Monday Photo: ABC While the crowd inside “The View” studio on Monday (March 22) was full of women who traveled from all over to hear the opinions of the show’s five hosts, the crowd outside the studio was mostly full of teenage girls hoping to either get inside to see Justin Bieber perform or, at the very least, catch a glimpse of him leaving the studio. How long had they been waiting? “Well, since 1 o’clock [Sunday], but then we went home and took a break, but then we saw people here at 10 o’clock at night so then we came down and that’s when we started waiting,” April Augostineloi told MTV News. “We’ve waited for so long, we went to the Roosevelt Field Mall. We never go to see him. We’ve only went to one concert … and the concert was amazing and we really hope we get to see him. We really like him a lot.” Another fan, Amanda Pine, also waited hours to try and see Bieber on the show. “Well, I would bust out crying,” she shared, adding that she too missed out on a chance to see him at the mall. ” ‘Cause we waited at the mall for 22 hours and we got inside and when they said it was canceled, we just busted out crying.” Cassidy Mavros said that she had been waiting to see Bieber since 4 a.m. “He’s hot!” she exclaimed. “I will cry. We’ve been here since 4 this morning. We got up at, like, 2 [a.m.].” Lauren Famiano may have been on line earlier, if she and her pals hadn’t gotten lost on their way to “The View” studios. “I’m gonna cry. We’ve been here since 2 o’clock in the morning and we got lost here, so I hope we get in. We got here at like, 6:30, but we got lost in the city,” she explained. “So we had to find our way here.” Another fan, Stephanie DaSilva, added that if she didn’t get into the show she would “flip out … I woke up mad early for this. I told my teacher I would be here.” “Well, it’s my birthday on April 19, so I came all the way from the Philippines to see Justin Bieber,” fan Clara Giron explained. “I saw it on the Internet. I dragged my mom. I told my mom I’m going to see Justin Bieber here. I’m lined up. I’m starting to cry now. All my friends are Justin Bieber fans and I can’t believe I’m here,” she said. “Hopefully he sees this video — I want to tell him come over to the Philippines; everyone loves him there.” Related Videos Sneak Peek: ‘The Diary Of Justin Bieber’ Related Photos Behind-The-Scenes Of ‘Diary Of Justin Bieber’: Chelsea Piers Behind-The-Scenes Of ‘Diary Of Justin Bieber’: Paris
