Tom Cruise Just Had ‘Fun’ In ‘Rock Of Ages’

‘I’m always looking for different things to do,’ Cruise says of why he wanted to play egomaniacal rock god Stacee Jaxx. By Kara Warner Tom Cruise in “Rock of Ages” Photo: If you’ve seen or heard anything about this week’s heavily hyped movie musical “Rock of Ages,” our Friday, you’re likely well aware of the fact that one of its key selling points is Tom Cruise , who not only sings but dances his way through his supporting role. In the film, based on the Broadway play of the same name, Cruise plays the self-obsessed, egomaniacal rock god Stacee Jaxx, a role the Hollywood veteran said he enjoyed because it was such a big change from anything he’s done previously. “It was so different. I’m always looking for different things to do and to work with [director Adam] Shankman on a musical, he just really knows these musicals,” Cruise said at the film’s Los Angeles premiere. “And [to work with] Alec Baldwin, who I’ve known and admired, I have a scene with him and Paul Giamatti and Julianne [Hough] and Diego [Boneta] and Catherine Zeta-Jones — I wish I had more scenes with her, she’s just a legend in the musical world. All of it was fun.” Cruise’s young co-star, newcomer Boneta, had nothing but high praise about his experience working alongside the “Mission: Impossible” star. “He’s the hardest-working guy we’ve ever met in our lives,” Boneta said , speaking for himself and co-star Julianne Hough. “He’s so humble. I think that combination is something that really stuck with me. This is my first movie; this is Tom’s, like, 50th movie. That is a rare and very special combination.” Boneta said he will never forget the months of preparation for the role because he got to learn guitar and jam with Cruise. “Tom and I were taking guitar classes together because we both had to learn how to play guitar, and it was pretty surreal jamming out with Tom singing ‘Every Rose Has Its Thorn,’ ” Boneta recalled. “He was playing the solo, and I was playing all the chords and stuff.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Rock of Ages.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Katie Holmes is Wet of the Day

Here is a picture of Katie Holmes soaking wet….and not in a way Tom Cruise runs from….you know when she expects him to perform husbandly duties that we all know never happened and was just part of their “deal” to pretend it did…..and really not even in a way I like to look at…you know like that scene in a movie where she was topless underwater…before all this morphing into a middle aged alien mom happened…. But I do I see what Tom Cruise sees in her….you know the fact that she looks like a fucking dude…. If you’re wondering why she’s wet….it is cuz she jumped in a pond…trying to murder sucide her and her kid to escape the hell that’s she’s living….is probably the reason…but unfortunatley for her…some fat handler saved her….and ruined her plan…. Proof Tom Cruise Isn’t Gay of the Day

I think this is pretty solid proof Tom Cruise is not gay. I mean I’ve heard rumors from people I know, I’m talking private pilots and old fags a like, totally unrelated with details of his gay adventures to montreal….but after looking at this pic, I’m like this 50 year old is so straight, he’s just promoting a Glam Rock movie he’s in, he’s not skinny for Freddy Mercury HIV reasons, even if her was, that’s only the Gay disease in the 80s, plenty of straight Africans and needle sharers in America have it too….and come on there’s a girl with her hands down his pants and he’s not hard…real men don’t get hard in photoshoots…it is unprofessional….unless in Tom Cruises case the photoshoot involves mud wrestling twinks…. Either way, gay or not, this pic of Tom Cruise is bad….and hysterical….especially for any dudes who had Top Gun posters on your bedroom wall growing up….you gang of queers.

‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’: The Reviews Are In!

As Tom Cruise returns as superspy Ethan Hunt, critics roundly praise eye-popping action sequences and strong supporting cast. By Eric Ditzian Tom Cruise in “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” Photo: Paramount Pictures Anyone wondering if the “Mission: Impossible” franchise still has life in it after more than five years away from the cinema should do a simple critical comparison. “Mission: Impossible III,” which kicked off 2006’s summer movie season, notched a 70 percent approval rating, according to the Rotten Tomatoes review aggregator. “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,” by contrast, is currently hovering at 93 percent freshness as it goes into wide release on Wednesday (December 21), following a limited, IMAX-only debut. Tom Cruise, after the recent stumble of “Knight and Day,” is back as an action hero at the age of 49; his IMF superspy Ethan Hunt has possibly never looked better, according to some critics. Reviewers have gone on to praise the film’s eye-popping action sequences and the entertaining supporting cast. Read on for a deep dive into the “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” reviews. The Story “IMF has been disbanded by presidential order after being blamed for a terrorist bombing that destroys the Kremlin. So, do Ethan Hunt and the remaining members of his now-rogue spy team sit around worrying about their 401(k)s? Possibly they would in real life, but not in ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,’ a largely successful attempt to reboot the moribund franchise that turns out to be probably the most entertaining installment since Brian De Palma’s series opener from 15 years ago.” — Lou Lumenick, New York Post The Dubai Skyscraper Scene “This is a sequence so ingeniously conceived and shot that even the audience doesn’t want to look down — a sequence so death-defying that it gets you laughing at your own susceptibility (especially if, like me, you happen to have a fear of heights). Shimmying up and down and around the building’s surface, with the ground looking as if it must be a mile below, Cruise becomes a fearless human bug (think Spider-Man without the superpowers). Then, just as we’re sure that our hearts couldn’t dig any deeper into our throats, one of his gloves begins to short out and lose adhesive power.” — Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly The Supporting Cast “Simon Pegg, returning from his ‘M:I’ debut in the last film, provides a hugely welcome dose of lightness and comic relief as Benji, a meek British computer nerd who in this installment has finally managed to score a gig in the field. Paula Patton and Jeremy Renner, as new additions to Ethan’s team, hit their marks with professionalism and physical competence, with Renner in particular proving that he’s ready to assume the central role in the ‘M:I’ franchise if and when Mr. Cruise finally hangs up his carabineers.” — Ann Hornaday, The Washington Post The Dissenters ” ‘Ghost Protocol’ is a less a film than a vanity license plate writ large — a throwback to when all an action film needed was a bogus concept, chase scenes and a roman numeral in a title. … Its collection of stock elements — nuclear strikes, beautiful women, exotic locales, fast cars, megalomaniac bad guy — could have been ordered from a ‘when superpowers stalked the earth’ clearance sale catalog. Twenty-five years ago it would have starred Roger Moore.” — Duane Dudek, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel The Final Word “Should you see ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’? By all means, and in the big, big, biggest theater you can find. Don’t watch it on TV, and for God’s sake, don’t download it to your phone. I recommend the LG IMAX Theater in Sydney, Australia, which is eight stories high, but your local multiplex will do. Be prepared, afterward, to feel as if the outside world is just a little bit too small.” — Dan Kois, Slate Check out everything we’ve got on “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . ‘Mission: Impossible’ Cheat Sheet: Everything You Need To Know

We’ve been following Tom Cruise’s road back to the ‘M:I’ series, leading up to the film’s release Wednesday (December 21). By Kara Warner Tom Cruise in “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” Photo: Paramount After a five-year hiatus, Tom Cruise is back as superspy Ethan Hunt in “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.” This is Cruise’s fourth foray into the world of fancy gadgetry, high-stakes missions and crazy action sequences, with “Incredibles” director Brad Bird at the helm of his first live-action film. To celebrate Cruise’s long and winding road back to Hunt and the “Mission: Impossible” franchise, here is everything you need to know about “Ghost Protocol,” which releases wide Wednesday (December 21). The Return of Ethan Hunt Although Cruise’s third “Mission” film was a bona fide box-office success following its $134 million gross in 2006, the green light for a fourth film was a long time coming. First, director J.J. Abrams confirmed that he would not be back to helm the film, though he would stay on as a producer, then in February 2010, Cruise announced he’d be back , and the hunt was on for a new director. New Blood In May 2010, Paramount announced that Pixar mastermind and director Brad Bird would take on the fourth “Mission” with Cruise , which was followed by casting announcements of new leading lady Paula Patton, Jeremy Renner and “Lost” alum Josh Holloway. Returning castmember Simon Pegg promised us that his character had an improved bag of tricks in the form of a “promotion” in IMF . We also soon learned the film’s proper title: “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.” Cruise Defies Death, Scales World’s Tallest Building As soon as photos emerged of Cruise scaling Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, interest in the film picked up considerably. How can you ignore one of the world’s most famous film stars dangling from and then standing atop the world’s tallest building? You can’t. Bird told us that people wouldn’t believe that it was actually Cruise performing the “crazy” stunts and assured us that no CG was needed for those scenes. Amped-Up Action Once the first trailer arrived , we put it through our expert analysis , and it was obvious that once again, Cruise and Co. had upped the ante with regard to ridiculously complicated action sequences. Even Cruise’s wife, Katie Holmes, admitted Cruise’s stunts were “intense,” alongside Guillermo Del Toro, who provided the very excellent bonus trailer reaction by humming the theme song and comparing “Mission: Impossible” to his diet . All Systems Go As we got closer to the film’s release date, more trailers , posters and clips started rolling in. Then it was time for the press junket, which, incredibly enough, Paramount hosted in Dubai, from where two members of our intrepid MTV News team sent in daily reports of their experiences and interviews , the highlights from which include a Tom Cruise “After Hours,” Cruise revealing the most interesting and mundane facts about himself, and just how many more “Mission” films Cruise has in him.
