40 Bizarre Statistics That Reveal The Horrifying Truth About The Collapse Of The U.S. Economy

Most Americans still appear to be operating under the delusion that the “recession” will soon pass and that things will get back to “normal” very soon. Unfortunately, that is not anywhere close to the truth. What are now witnessing are the early stages of the complete and total breakdown of the U.S. economic system. The U.S. government, state governments, local governments, businesses and American consumers have collectively piled up debt that is equivalent to approximately 360 percent of GDP. At no point during the Great Depression (or at any other time during our history) did we ever come close to such a figure. We have piled up the biggest mountain of debt that the world has ever seen, and now that gigantic debt bubble is beginning to pop. As this house of cards comes crashing down, the economic pain is going to become almost unimaginable. added by: Revelation1217

Police Arrest Man at Mexico Airport Smuggling 18 Endangered Titi Monkeys Under Clothes | Two Dead | Includes Stoneyroad’s Submission, With Video!

Mexican police arrest man hiding 18 monkeys under clothes at airport By the CNN Wire Staff July 20, 2010 4:17 p.m. EDT (CNN) — Mexican authorities searching a man with a bulge under his shirt at the airport in the nation's capital found 18 monkeys hidden beneath his clothes, police said. Investigators grew suspicious after Roberto Sol Cabrera Zavaleta, 38, became “markedly nervous” when asked what he was transporting, Mexico's Public Safety Department said. Two of the tiny titi monkeys he was carrying in a belt were dead, the department said in a statement, and 16 of them survived the journey from Lima, Peru. Cabrera has been detained as authorities continue their investigation, the statement said. In an interview with authorities released by police, Cabrera said he first carried the monkeys in his suitcase, but then hid the animals in his clothes so they would not be harmed by X-ray machines at the airport. He described the animals as “pets” and told authorities he had purchased them for $30. Titi monkeys are protected endangered species requiring a permit for possession, police said. Images released by police show the tiny creatures, many of which are tied up in pouches, squirming in a cardboard box. Confirmed… Journalist Completely in the Tank for Obama

Confirmed… Journalist Completely in the Tank for Obama Documents show media plotting to kill stories about Rev. Jeremiah Wright By Jonathan Strong – The Daily Caller 1:15 AM 07/20/2010 It was the moment of greatest peril for then-Sen. Barack Obama’s political career. In the heat of the presidential campaign, videos surfaced of Obama’s pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, angrily denouncing whites, the U.S. government and America itself. Obama had once bragged of his closeness to Wright. Now the black nationalist preacher’s rhetoric was threatening to torpedo Obama’s campaign. The crisis reached a howling pitch in mid-April, 2008, at an ABC News debate moderated by Charlie Gibson and George Stephanopoulos. Gibson asked Obama why it had taken him so long – nearly a year since Wright’s remarks became public – to dissociate himself from them. Stephanopoulos asked, “Do you think Reverend Wright loves America as much as you do?” Watching this all at home were members of Journolist, a listserv comprised of several hundred liberal journalists, as well as like-minded professors and activists. The tough questioning from the ABC anchors left many of them outraged. “George [Stephanopoulos],” fumed Richard Kim of the Nation, is “being a disgusting little rat snake.” Others went further. According to records obtained by The Daily Caller, at several points during the 2008 presidential campaign a group of liberal journalists took radical steps to protect their favored candidate. Employees of news organizations including Time, Politico, the Huffington Post, the Baltimore Sun, the Guardian, Salon and the New Republic participated in outpourings of anger over how Obama had been treated in the media, and in some cases plotted to fix the damage. In one instance, Spencer Ackerman of the Washington Independent urged his colleagues to deflect attention from Obama’s relationship with Wright by changing the subject. Pick one of Obama’s conservative critics, Ackerman wrote, “Fred Barnes, Karl Rove, who cares — and call them racists.” Michael Tomasky, a writer for the Guardian, also tried to rally his fellow members of Journolist: “Listen folks–in my opinion, we all have to do what we can to kill ABC and this idiocy in whatever venues we have. This isn’t about defending Obama. This is about how the [mainstream media] kills any chance of discourse that actually serves the people.” “Richard Kim got this right above: ‘a horrible glimpse of general election press strategy.’ He’s dead on,” Tomasky continued. “We need to throw chairs now, try as hard as we can to get the call next time. Otherwise the questions in October will be exactly like this. This is just a disease.” (In an interview Monday, Tomasky defended his position, calling the ABC debate an example of shoddy journalism.) Thomas Schaller, a columnist for the Baltimore Sun as well as a political science professor, upped the ante from there. In a post with the subject header, “why don’t we use the power of this list to do something about the debate?” Schaller proposed coordinating a “smart statement expressing disgust” at the questions Gibson and Stephanopoulos had posed to Obama. “It would create quite a stir, I bet, and be a warning against future behavior of the sort,” Schaller wrote. Tomasky approved. “YES. A thousand times yes,” he exclaimed. The members began collaborating on their open letter. Jonathan Stein of Mother Jones rejected an early draft, saying, “I’d say too short. In my opinion, it doesn’t go far enough in highlighting the inanity of some of [Gibson's] and [Stephanopoulos’s] questions. And it doesn’t point out their factual inaccuracies …Our friends at Media Matters probably have tons of experience with this sort of thing, if we want their input.” Jared Bernstein, who would go on to be Vice President Joe Biden’s top economist when Obama took office, helped, too. The letter should be “Short, punchy and solely focused on vapidity of gotcha,” Bernstein wrote. In the midst of this collaborative enterprise, Holly Yeager, now of the Columbia Journalism Review, dropped into the conversation to say “be sure to read” a column in that day’s Washington Post that attacked the debate. Columnist Joe Conason weighed in with suggestions. So did Slate contributor David Greenberg, and David Roberts of the website Grist. Todd Gitlin, a professor of journalism at Columbia University, helped too. Journolist members signed the statement and released it April 18, calling the debate “a revolting descent into tabloid journalism and a gross disservice to Americans concerned about the great issues facing the nation and the world.” The letter caused a brief splash and won the attention of the New York Times. But only a week later, Obama – and the journalists who were helping him – were on the defensive once again. Jeremiah Wright was back in the news after making a series of media appearances. At the National Press Club, Wright claimed Obama had only repudiated his beliefs for “political reasons.” Wright also reiterated his charge that the U.S. federal government had created AIDS as a means of committing genocide against African Americans. It was another crisis, and members of Journolist again rose to help Obama. Chris Hayes of the Nation posted on April 29, 2008, urging his colleagues to ignore Wright. Hayes directed his message to “particularly those in the ostensible mainstream media” who were members of the list. more at link….or down below….. added by: 0face

BP caught using altered image of command center

Is a picture worth more or less than a thousand words if it's digitally altered? John Aravosis of AMERICAblog made an interesting find Monday night: A high-resolution image on BP's website of the troubled company's Houston-based Deepwater Horizon response command center had been altered. The altered image was later removed by BP and replaced with what they say is the original (the altered image is above and the original is below). You'll notice that three underwater images were inserted onto screens to the right on a wall of video feeds in the altered image, where blank images exist on the screens in the original. ** The Main image is the altered image ** added by: KSirys

Brokaw and Rose Admit They Don’t Know Much About Obama." But Lets Be Recklessly Irresponsible and Sway American Opinion and Get Him Elected Anyway".

“The main stream media has not done their job and have effectively been a disservice to the American people. These two journalists epitomize American media today, they along with their journalistic brothers essentially helped elect a man that no one had the balls to investigate properly. Most of those who elected Barrak don't really care but many on the left have seen the light and have begun to ask questions like, what the fuck were we thinking?” (congoboy)What has come to be called the Obama Paradox is not a paradox at all. Voters lack faith in him making the right economic decisions because, as far as they're concerned, he hasn't. He went for health-care reform, not jobs. He supported the public option, then he didn't. He's been cold to Israel's Binyamin Netanyahu and then all over him like a cheap suit. Americans know Obama is smart. But we still don't know him. Before Americans can give him credit for what he's done, they have to know who he is. We're waiting. cohenr@washpost.com added by: congoboy

Top 3 Reason Why Some Don’t Go to Church: We want to talk to other people

Knowing and loving someone totally different than ourselves with the passion anthropologists dissect “the other”, is one of the true nectars of life. Unfortunately, the meeting and the greeting of new people is one of the greatest sovereign rights of humanity, we take advantage of the least. added by: tammytymeproduktions

Depressed People Really Do See a Gray World

“Researchers at the University of Freiburg in Germany had previously shown that people with depression have difficulty detecting black-and-white contrast differences. In new research, published in the journal Biological Psychiatry, the team had 40 patients with major depression and 40 healthy individuals view a sequence of five black-and-white checkerboards of different contrasts. Meanwhile, the researchers measured the pattern electroretinogram, which is similar to anelectrocardiogram (ECG) of the retina of the eye. The depressed patients had dramatically lower retinal responses to the varying black-and-white contrasts than healthy individuals. The results held regardless of whether patients were taking antidepressants. “These data highlight the profound ways that depression alters one's experience of the world,” said Dr. John Krystal, editor of the journal. “The poet William Cowper said that 'variety's the very spice of life,' yet when people are depressed, they are less able to perceive contrasts in the visual world. This loss would seem to make the world a less pleasurable place.” http://www.livescience.com/culture/depressed-people-see-gray-world-100720.html added by: DeliaTheArtist

Black British couple shocked by ‘miracle’ blonde, white baby

A BLACK British couple have spoken of their amazement after their baby girl was born white, with blue eyes and blonde hair. Doctors say baby Nmachi Ihegboro is not an albino and attribute her appearance to an unknown genetic mutation. Nmachi, whose name means “Beauty of God” in the Nigerian couple's homeland, has confused genetics experts because neither of her parents has any mixed-race family history. Dad Ben Ihegboro said: “The first thing I said was 'What the flip?' We both just sat there after the birth staring at her for ages – not saying anything. “She doesn't look like an albino child anyway – not like the ones I've seen back in Nigeria or in books. She just looks like a healthy white baby.” He added, “My mum is a black Nigerian, although she has a bit fairer skin than mine. But we don't know of any white ancestry. We wondered if it was a genetic twist. But even then, what is with the long curly blonde hair?” Mr Ihegboro was quick to quell any murmurings of infedility, saying: “My wife is true to me. Even if she hadn't been, the baby still wouldn't look like that.” Mum Angelaadmitted that she was “speechless” when she first saw her baby girl, who was delivered by C-section. “I thought, 'What is this little doll?' She's beautiful, and I love her. Her color doesn't matter. She's a miracle baby. But still, what on earth happened here?” she said. Nmachi is now at home in Woolwich, southeastern London, with siblings Chisom and Dumebi. Read more: http://www.news.com.au/breaking-news/black-british-couple-shocked-by-miracle-blo… added by: eden49
