‘Art Of Getting By’ Stars Bring ‘Relatable’ Film To MTV’s Sneak Peek Week

‘I just loved the dynamic between all the different characters,’ Emma Roberts says during Q&A session. By Jocelyn Vena Elizabeth Reaser, Emma Roberts and Michael Angarano at the MTV Movie Awards Sneak Peek Week screening of “The Art of Getting By” Photo: Frank Micelotta / PictureGroup WEST HOLLYWOOD, California — At the Pacific Design Center on Tuesday night (May 31), the stars of ” The Art of Getting By ” assembled for MTV’s Sneak Peek Week , and they opened up about the New York City set of the coming-of-age dramedy. The film follows a set of New York teens as they embark on the real world and attempt to make grown-up decisions and say goodbye to their adolescence. The audience seemed to connect to the film’s drama and comedy, especially relating to the heart of the story as George (played by Freddie Highmore) attempts to change his image from careless slacker, win the heart of Sally (Emma Roberts) and embrace his talent as an artist. The film’s leading lady, Emma Roberts, confessed that she signed on thanks to her feelings for her character Sally. “I just loved the dynamic between all the different characters,” she said. “To me, I related to her personally.” Of shooting in New York, she gushed about the chance. “New York is a fun place to shoot, but it’s definitely hectic.” Roberts’ onscreen love interest, Michael Angarano, added, “I think [director] Gavin [Wiesen] wrote it in a way that made it very relatable. It’s definitely an authentic movie about a very specific time in your life. My least favorite part of the script was that [my] Dustin character was so unlikeable. He probably thinks he’s wiser than he probably is.” Elizabeth Reaser jumped at the chance to play Sally’s mom, who is very different from her character in “Twilight.” “It was the script, and then I feel in love with the characters,” she said. “I was fascinated by someone who would behave like this. “It was very exciting [to play this kind of mom]. . All those things were fascinating to me,” she added. “I think she’s a really good mom. I think she loves her daughter.” Stick with MTV News all week as we gear up for Sunday’s Movie Awards with a Sneak Peek Week screening and live-stream Q&A session every night this week. Eminem And Royce Da 5’9" Say Bad Meets Evil EP ‘Didn’t Feel Like Work’

‘We didn’t miss a step at all,’ Royce says on ‘RapFix Live’ of reuniting with Em. By Alvin Blanco, with reporting by Sway Calloway Royce Da 5’9″ Photo: MTV News With Detroit rappers Eminem and Royce Da 5’9″ back on friendly terms, fans are being rewarded with their forthcoming EP Hell: The Sequel, due in stores June 14. Recording under the moniker Bad Meets Evil, the celebrated lyricists told MTV News’ “RapFix Live” that the fluid back-and-forth on the project’s lead single, “Fast Lane,” was due to their latent chemistry. “Me and Royce, ever since back in the day when we did records together, we always had kind of a chemistry,” Eminem told MTV News. “It was fairly easy to play off what each other was doing, and I think we can [think] a lot alike.” As the “Evil” in the Bad Meets Evil equation, Em added that the project was the result of mending the rift he had with Royce, which dates back to when the latter stopped working with Dr. Dre and was feuding with D12. “This record, the way it came together, it wasn’t anything that we planned to do,” Em said. “We didn’t get together and say, ‘Hey, man, let’s make a Bad Meets Evil record.’ It was more so along the lines of us making amends and repairing our issues that we had, and then one day, Bad [Royce] brought a song to me and wanted me to jump on it, and the way it ended up coming out, it was pretty easy to do. It didn’t take a lot of time. It was fun to do it. The way we knocked that record out kind of quickly … it just morphed into this.” Added Nickel Nine: “It didn’t feel like work. We just had fun doing it.” Some of the previous fruits of Royce and Em’s good times in the studio, such as “Bad Meets Evil” from Em’s The Slim Shady LP, occurred more than a decade ago. But fans need not worry about whether the Motor City tag team will be on the same page musically for the rest of Hell: The Sequel, which features production from DJ Khalil, Bangladesh and Denaun Porter. “It was pretty nostalgic, actually,” Royce said of the recording process. “It took me back to when we used to do stuff back in the day. We clicked like that. I wasn’t really surprised. We didn’t miss a step at all.” Related Videos ‘RapFix Live’ With Eminem And Royce Da 5’9″ Related Artists Eminem Royce Da 5’9″

Lady Gaga Goes Beyond The Fame In Exclusive MTV Special

‘Lady Gaga: Inside the Outside,’ an intimate hour-long chat with the pop megastar, airs Thursday, May 26, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga Photo: MTV News Lady Gaga is giving fans a peek at the girl behind the pop star in an exclusive special titled ” Lady Gaga: Inside the Outside .” In the hour-long interview, set to air Thursday, May 26, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV, the singer reveals how she went from Stefani Germanotta to Gaga, pop’s pre-eminent global superstar, and allows her audience to share her vulnerabilities. During the intimate chat, Mother Monster opens up about her rise to fame — from her school days of being bullied by classmates to the moment she decided to pursue her dreams of pop stardom. She speaks in-depth about the moments that shaped her as an artist, including the release of her highly anticipated album, Born This Way, on May 23. “Lady Gaga: Inside the Outside” also focuses on Gaga at home, spotlighting her close relationship with her family and growing up in Manhattan before she made the life-changing decision to move out on her own to New York City’s Lower East Side. Gaga recalls being bullied by students at school and what impact it had on her. “I remember once, some of the girls from my class, they were hanging out with some boys that I knew also,” the “Judas” singer says. “And then I went to meet some friends for some pizza that were at the same pizzeria, and the boys picked me up and threw me in the trashcan on the street on the corner of my block, while all the other girls from the school were leaving and could see me in the trash and everybody was laughing — and I was even laughing. “I always have that nervous giggle and I just remember, like, holding back the tears and the lip quivering,” she continues. “And I remember even one of the girls looking at me like, ‘Are you about to cry? You’re pathetic.’ I remember I didn’t tell anybody, that’s what I remember. I remember I didn’t tell anybody. I remember I didn’t want to tell my parents because it was too embarrassing. And I remember I didn’t want to really bring it up with my girlfriends even though they were there.” Her parents, as Gaga explains in the special, have always been supportive of her dreams, even if it meant challenging her. “My dad was really into rock and roll. Bruce Springsteen had such an influence on our home. My dad saw me singing along to his records and he would pick me up and throw me around the room and laugh and cry with me while I would sing Pink Floyd and Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel records with him. My father gave me — I believe it was for Christmas — it was a Bruce Springsteen songbook for the piano and on it was ‘Thunder Road,’ which is my favorite Bruce Springsteen song. And my dad said, ‘If you learn how to play this song, we will take out a loan for a grand piano, a baby grand.’ I didn’t know the difference. There was the big one and a small one.” A young Gaga was more than up for the challenge. “So I remember it was the hardest thing for me. I was playing these huge pieces, like 15 pages long. … I opened up the book and there was, like, chords, guitar chords. I was so confused, I didn’t understand it, so I just started to read it,” she recalls. “Eventually, I got it down.” Catch an exclusive teaser trailer for ” Lady Gaga: Inside the Outside ” on Thursday at 10:58 p.m. ET/PT on MTV, after a new episode of “Randy Jackson Presents: America’s Best Dance Crew.” Related Videos Preview ‘Lady Gaga: Inside The Outside’ Related Artists Lady Gaga

Cali Swag District Member’s Shooting Spawns ‘Jealous Man’ Rumor

Police cannot confirm TMZ’s report linking a ‘jealous man’ to M-Bone’s death. By Rob Markman M-Bone Photo: Amy Graves/PictureGroup/AP There is much rumor and speculation surrounding the May 15 shooting death of Cali Swag District member Mante “M-Bone” Talbert, 22. At press time, TMZ was reporting that Bone was possibly murdered by a “jealous man,” who threatened Talbert over Twitter. An unnamed woman, claiming to be M-Bone’s girlfriend, told the popular website that the man lived in their apartment complex and was envious of Cali Swag District’s success. She went on to tell TMZ that at around 10 p.m., Bone used her car and said that he was going to the studio. The gossip site is also reporting that a man known as “Bubba” was in the car with M-Bone when the shooting occurred. After the shots were fired, Bubba, who made a cameo in the group’s “Teach Me How to Dougie” music video, was struck with shards of glass in the face and hospitalized for his wounds. M-Bone’s life in photos As of Tuesday morning (May 17), the Inglewood Police homicide division could not confirm any of this information for MTV News. What Inglewood PD homicide Sgt. Brian Spencer could confirm to us is that at about 10:30 p.m. PT Sunday night, police were called to the 400 block of North La Brea Boulevard in Inglewood. When they arrived on the scene they found Talbert seated in the driver’s seat of a black vehicle with at least two gunshots to the head. M-Bone was then taken to a local hospital but eventually succumbed to his injuries. In a statement released on Monday, a rep for Cali Swag said that M-Bone “was the victim of a random act of violence.” Bone was one-fourth of the group that rose to fame with their 2010 platinum single “Teach Me How to Dougie.” The song was an ode to the dance popularized by 1980s rap legend Doug E. Fresh, and its remix featured Jermaine Dupri, B.o.B, Bow Wow and Red Caf

Young Jeezy, Polow Da Don, Jazze Pha Accused Of Owing Thousands In Unpaid Studio Fees

See the original post:

While their songs continue to grow more and more popular, a number of artists in Atlanta are accused of owing thousands of dollars in unpaid fees for some of their biggest hits. According to CBS Atlanta , recording engineer Tony Terrebonne has confirmed that producer Polow Da Don owes more than $20,000 in unpaid studio services and attorneys fees. Terrebonne said $8,000 of that is for his work on the Chris Brown hit “Forever” and he’s owed an additional $480 for Usher’s “Love In The Club.” According to Terrebone this isn’t his first issue with the Zone 4 head, who previously owed him $50,000 causing him to move in with his parents and sell his car to make up for the loss. In addition to Da Don, Young Jeezy and Producer Jazze Pha are also reportedly guilty of not making payments. Since CBS published their story, Butler received $20,000 from Young Jeezy’s YJ Entertainment and  Zumpano received about $2,000 from TSG Financial Management who represents Jazze Pha. Tribute to M-Bone; Cali Swag Teach LaToya to Dougie

As a tribute to hip-hop’s great M-Bone of Cali Swag, HOLLYWOOD.TV expresses its sadness at the senseless killing of this artist. Said Jermaine Dupri, “”That’s my most significant memory about him…he was one of the main dudes who brought the dance back to them. The dance originated in Dallas and was brought to Cali. The members of the group are not from where the dance is from. He was the one who was really killing the Dougie.” Jermaine stresses that while M-Bone didn’t record vocals on albums, the dancer was always held as an integral part of the Cali Swag movement. Give our love to Tupac, M-Bone.

Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj And Ke$ha ‘Till The World Ends’ Remix Leaks

Reworked tune features an opening verse by Minaj as Ke$ha sings atop Spears’ vocals throughout the song. By James Dinh Britney Spears “Til The World Ends” Photo: Jive Britney Spears isn’t the only pop titan dancing until the world ends: Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha have joined forces to add a new spin on an all-female remix of Femme Fatale ‘s second single, “Till the World Ends.” The reworked dance anthem, which leaked online Friday (April 22), appears to have surfaced earlier than expected as noted by a series of countdowns on all three of the star’s websites . Mixing the dance tune’s original sonic swirls with heavier bass, Britney tourmate Minaj starts off the remix by throwing down an aggressive verse, in which she calls out a female hater: “A-A-A-A-A-AYE!/ Chimpanzees is hatin’, but I take it all in stride/ Put her in a jungle with bananas on the side/ Told you they’d revive your career, but somebody lied/I ain’t talkin’ poultry when I say this chicken’s fried.” After Minaj spits a few introductory bars, Spears delivers the song’s first verse before an introduction for the all-star trio. “It’s Britney, bitch. I’m Nicki Minaj and that’s Ke$ha!” the Young Money MC proclaims. Ke$ha, who originally wrote the track for the pop princess, takes part in singing the club-ready track’s chorus. Spears soon takes back control of the song as Ke$ha shadows the singer’s lines toward the end of the second verse and bridge. Unlike the original version, the “Till the World Ends” remix also features a stuttering dubstep dance break. News of a star-studded collaboration was hinted earlier this week when producer Dr. Luke tweeted , “@NICKIMINAJ killed it tonight!!!! thanks!!!” Have you heard the all-star “Till The World Ends” remix? Christina Perri Says Her ‘Life Changed’ After ‘Jar Of Hearts’

Singer is on tour with James Blunt after her song aired on an episode of ‘So You Think You Can Dance.’ By Jocelyn Vena Christina Perri Photo: MTV News Christina Perri is currently on the road with a man who, much like her, found fame after penning a track about love and heartbreak. Perri is touring with the “sweetest dude on the planet,” James Blunt, and when she first found out about the gig, she had a feeling their fans would find common ground, a theory that has now been proved true. “I was very excited. I knew the venues were going to be awesome, small little intimate theaters,” Perri told MTV News. “And then, to be there [at tour kickoff on Wednesday], and see that our audiences are the same because so many people knew the words to my song [‘Jar of Hearts’] that knew the words to his songs, I mean, that tells you right there, so it was a really great pairing,” she said. “And I’m so excited now.” But a year ago, a major tour like this one was the farthest thing from Perri’s mind — until one fateful night. Last summer, Perri went from small-town girl to Top 40 radio mainstay, with the success of her single “Jar of Hearts.” And though a quick rise to fame is often described as happening “overnight,” Perri truly is an overnight sensation. “When my song was on the TV show ‘So You Think You Can Dance,’ my life changed that night, like, it was very fast,” she recalled. “It’s 2011, and that was last year [and] with the Internet everything [it’s all very] ‘right now.’ So when the song aired on the show, by midnight, I never had to go back to waitressing again. “I just existed; I didn’t exist— and then I did,” she explained of the feeling. “I flew to New York City, I signed a record deal like, boom, boom, boom, boom,” she continued. “And it hasn’t stopped, which is a good thing, and I’m trying to stay grounded and focus and keep doing what I’m doing every day, but it’s been this magical thing where, like, I don’t have to wake up and cover my tattoos and be a waitress. All the hard work … ended up really working out. I’m grateful.” Perri will release her debut album, Lovestrong, on May 10. Are you a Christina Perri fan? Tell us in the comments!
