Yes, Sarah Silverman may have delivered the single line that stood out the most on Monday night at the Democratic National Convention. But Michelle Obama delivered the speech that will stand the test of time. Framing the argument for this election not around party lines, but around “who will have the power to shape our children for the next four or eight years of their lives,” Obama endorsed Hillary Clinton in the most passionate way possible. Speaking candidly about Sasha and Malia, Obama brought up the topic of bullying, a clear reference to Republican nominee Donald Trump. “We don't stoop to their level. Our motto is: 'When they go low, we go high,'” she said. Words matter, she said. Actions matter. When she and her husband moved into the White House years ago and and their 10-year old and their 7-year old went off to school with armed Secret Service agents, Obama recalled: “I saw their little faces pressed up against the window and all I could think was, 'What have we done?'” Ever since then, she had focused primarily on making this experience into an important one for her kids. “We urge them to ignore those who question their father's citizenship or faith,” she said. “We insist that the hateful language they hear from public figures on TV does not represent the true spirit of this country.” Obama used this angle as a way to segue into why Clinton needs to be elected President. “What I admire most about Hillary is she never buckled under pressure,” the First Lady said. “Hillary Clinton has never quit on anything in her life. “When I think of the kind of president I want for my girls and all our children, that's what I want – the proven strength to persevere.” Later on, Obama talked emotionally about how the White House was built by slaves. About how her two African-American daughters now play on its lawn with their dog. And about how the Republicans spent their Convention trying to tell viewers about all the awful things now going on in the country. “Don't let anyone ever tell you that this country isn't great,” she said in a pointed reference to Trump's campaign slogan. “This, right now, is the greatest country on earth.” The speech was lauded as one of the all-time best on social media. And a certain Commander-in-Chief clearly liked it: It made you understand why someone might want to plagiarize Michelle Obama . Despite Luke Pell’s last ditch effort to proclaim his love for JoJo Fletcher and keep his run on the ABC show alive, he was sent home. “I started to struggle not knowing where you stood,” JoJo told Luke, who would bawl in the limo. “I just can’t believe I squandered it away.” “I had no idea that I wasn’t saying enough.” “I feel like a person that’s been hit by a train,” he added. “I thought we had a future together. I woulda been ready to propose to her today.” Laying it on a little thick, don’t you think, Luke? Don’t get us wrong, we thought Chase McNary would be shown the door before Pell. Would Chase stand a prayer against the top two? We say the top two because Jordan Rodgers and Robby Hayes were the clear favorites to earn Fantasy Suite cards and a trip to the finale. That’s exactly what happened in beautiful Thailand. Just about the only thing that could keep Jordan and JoJo off of each other was the fact that kissing wasn’t allowed in an ancient temple. They didn’t stay there for long, we’re guessing. Michael Lohan is standing up for his daughter. The way only Michael Lohan can. Over the weekend, Lohan engaged in a very public feud and fight with fiance Egor Tarabasov. It started with a stream of angry social media messages in which the often-troubled actress alleged that Tarabasov was cheating on her, implying at the time that she was pregnant . “I guess I was the same at 23…” Lohan wrote of her younger man at one point, adding: “Sh-tty time-it changes at 26/27 @e2505t thanks for not coming home tonight. Fame changes people.” She also Tweeted: “Wow thanks #fiance with Russian hooker @dasha_pa5h.” Things quickly escalated beyond a number of accusatory Tweets, however. On Saturday morning, neighbors of Lohan and Tarabasov were reportedly woken up by Lohan yelling from her balcony that Tarabasov was strangling her and attempting to murder her . The Sun even obtained a video that features a fiery exchange between Lohan and Tarabasov. It was filmed by a witness on the scene and it depicted Lohan on her balcony, screaming to anyone within earshot. “He tried to kill me,” Lohan says in the footage, which also featured Tarabasov trying to reason with his girlfriend and her responding as follows: “Do it. I dare you again. You’re f-cking crazy. You sick f-ck. You need help. It’s my house get out of my house.” Tough times for the couple, clearly. A police spokeswoman later confirmed that authorities were called to the residence after hearing reports of “a woman in distress.” No arrests were made, however. Fast forward to this week, meanwhile, and TMZ has shared text messages sent by Michael Lohan to Egor Tarabasov . They were supposedly written on Saturday night, hours after the aforementioned incident, and they included Lindsay’s father issuing many threats to her fiance. “You threaten my daughter, touch her or if anything happens to her and you will have no where to hide mother ducked like weasel,” Michael writes at one point. It seems pretty clear that Lindsay told her dad about what happened, prompting this barrage of texts. I WILL find you. While the relationship between Michael Lohan and Lindsay Lohan has been very strained at times, father and daughter have been on solid terms for awhile now. In early July, Michael Tweeted at his famous child, writing: “You couldn’t possibly love you more than I love YOU!!! You look FANTASTIC.” He also wished a “Happy and BLESSED 30th Birthday to my remarkable daughter” on July 2. On Monday morning, Lindsay flew back to the United States from London… without Tarabasov. She then asked for the public to butt out of her personal affairs , despite Lohan being the one who made these personal affairs very public on social media. “I would appreciate if these speculations regarding my personal life would respectfully come to a halt,” Lohan wrote on Instagram, adding: “Unfortunately, a private matter has become more public than I can control and I would be extremely grateful if my fiancé and myself could discuss our personal matters on our own. “There are more important things going on in the world than our relationship. If you watch Teen Mom 2 online , you know that questionable parenting decisions are kinda Leah Messer’s thing. Whether she’s passing out while holding a child or rushing her daughters off to school without breakfast , raising kids often feels like a job that Leah’s not particularly well-suited for, but she’s kinda stuck with it now, ya know? I promise you it’s worth the wait until you’re not driving. Be safe, have fun with those babies,” one commenter wrote. Another added, “Please, if you love your children don’t text and drive/record and drive. It was a cute video but PULL OVER to record it. Your lives are precious, don’t put them at risk because you’re on your phone.” Believe it or not, there was a time not that long ago when no one carried a tiny computer in their pocket, and when they drove, they did so without sending messages to anyone or sharing videos with millions of people. There were fewer distracted driving accidents, but that was partially due to the fact that you just don’t go as fast when you’re propelling the car with your own feet, a la Fred Flinstone.
