Chaka Khan Questions Why Pre-Grammy Party Was Held After Whitney Houston’s Death [VIDEO]

Chaka Khan spoke with CNN’s Piers Morgan about the death of Whitney Houston and questioned why Clive Davis held his pre-Grammy party after Whitney’s death. Chaka called the decision “insanity” and criticized those who let it happen: “I thought that was complete insanity,” Chaka Khan, who sang with Whitney Houston on ‘I’m Every Woman’, explained. “I don’t know what could motivate a person to have a party, in a building where the person whose life he had influenced so enormously, and whose life had been affected by her… I don’t understand how that party went on.” Adding: “A more honest tribute, in my opinion, would have been, maybe, call everybody together, say a prayer, let’s eat dinner and go home.” RELATED: Bobby Brown Dismisses Reports He’s Unwelcome At Whitney Funeral, Says Daughter Is “Doing Better” Aretha Franklin Sings Tribute For Goddaughter Whitney Houston [VIDEO] Whitney Houston Private Funeral Set For Saturday In New Jersey Celebrity Atlantans Remember Former ATL Resident Whitney Houston Whitney Houston May Have Died From Combination Of Xanax & Alcohol [REPORT] Jennifer Hudson Sings Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” At Grammys [VIDEO] New Edition On Whitney Houston’s Death: “We Are Shocked And Saddened” Bobby Declares Love For Whitney On Stage [VIDEO]

Bobby Brown, President Obama Release Statements Regarding Bobbi Kristina

With Bobbi Kristina Brown out of the hospital, but with family members still concerned over her well-being , Bobby Brown has released his first public statement regarding his 18-year old daughter with Whitney Houston. “My daughter did visit with doctors at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles,” said the singer, seen below touching down in Los Angeles to be there for his child.

Bobbi Kristina Brown: Out of Hospital, Not Out of Danger

We have an update on Bobbi Kristina Brown. The 18-year old daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, who was rushed to the hospital for two separate anxiety attacks since her mother passed away Saturday afternoon, is no longer under doctor’s care. But her family is still concerned about the teenager’s well-being and is considering some kind of professional treatment for her. In an eerie, frightening report, TMZ quotes insiders who say Bobbi was found asleep in a hotel room bathtub on Friday afternoon, the same position paramedics found Whitney in the following day. After repeated, unanswered knocks from Bobbi’s friends, security arrived, unlocked the door and helped fish the troubled young woman out of the tub. It’s unknown what caused that incident, but family members are, understandably, even more worried about Bobbi’s current state of mind and fear she may be suicidal. As they ponder the next best step, Bobby Brown left a concert in Nashville over the weekend and landed in Los Angeles last night to be there for his daughter. “Obviously the death of her mother is affecting her; however, we will get through this tragedy as a family,” the singer said in a statement to Extra . “Again, I ask for privacy during this time.

I appreciate all of the condolences that have been directed towards my family and I at this most difficult time.” The statement appears to have been made before Brown and Houston’s 18-year-old daughter, “Bobbi Kristina, was admitted to Cedars-Sinai hospital . According to TMZ, the teen was spotted being taken out of the Beverly Hilton on a stretcher less than 24 hours after her mother’s body was taken from the same hotel. The Houston family also released a statement to MTV News in what appears to be the hours before Bobbi Kristina’s hospitalization. “We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Whitney. This is an unimaginable tragedy and we will miss her terribly,” the statement read. “We appreciate the outpouring of love and support from her fans and friends.” Before his statement, the most the world had heard from Brown was during a New Edition concert in Mississippi Saturday night. After being comforted by the other members of New Edition, Brown took the stage and addressed the crowd . “First of all, I want to tell you that I love you all. Brown broke down several times through the show and left the stage near the end of the set when he appeared too shaken to perform. Whitney Houston And Michael Jackson’s Deaths: Gone Too Soon

‘You will always remember where you were … when you heard the news,’ Simon Cowell says, echoing the sentiments after Jackson’s death. By Tomika L. Anderson Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston in 1988 Photo: WireImage Few people will forget where they were when they heard that the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, had died in June 2009. And now, the same can be said for 1980s and ’90s Queen of Pop Whitney Houston . The beloved, long-suffering singer died Saturday inside a Beverly Hills hotel room, hours before she was expected to attend a pre-Grammy Awards party thrown by her longtime mentor Clive Davis . And while the official cause of death is yet unknown — what’s been speculated so far is that Houston may have drowned in the bathtub after taking prescription drugs, including Xanax — given her very public struggle with substance abuse, depression and anxiety over the past decade, it’s hard not to conclude that some drug- or alcohol-related accident may have been to blame. It’s much like, most recently, British singer Amy Winehouse and the late, great Michael Jackson before her, who died after taking a fatal cocktail of propofol and two other drugs. Also like Jackson, Houston’s sudden death — at the age of 48 — has stopped the world in its tracks, an enormous, one-of-a-kind musical flame forever extinguished. Even Jackson’s brother, Jermaine — who was first introduced to Houston years ago by Clive Davis at the same Beverly Hills Hilton where the singer passed away — could not help but draw the comparison. In an interview with CNN overnight, he paid tribute to the two fallen musical giants. “They shared a lot of success in the late ’80s and they were great friends,” he said. “I’m happy and honored to have been a part of their lives.” And oh, what lives they led: Like Jackson — who died at just 50 years old, after years of struggling with personal demons — Houston, too, had an intensely profound and everlasting impact on the world of entertainment. Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson and countless other chart-topping entertainers have all name-checked her as their musical mentor, icon and inspiration: To date, she is one of the best-selling artists of all time, with more than 170 million albums, songs and videos sold. In her lifetime, Houston achieved what precious few of them have or ever will — stacking an astonishing 415 awards, including six Grammys, two Emmys, 22 American Music Awards, 30 Billboard Awards. Her voice, in its prime, was a national treasure. “X Factor” mastermind Simon Cowell may have summed it up the best: On “Piers Morgan Tonight,” he said, “She was one of the greatest voices in our lifetime. Whitney was the number one singer that other singers want to emulate. People like that can’t be manufactured. They’ve either got, it or they don’t.” He added, “You will always remember where you were and what you were doing when you heard the news.” Like Michael before her, gone too soon. MTV News’ Sway and James Montgomery will be live from the Grammys red carpet tonight starting at 5 p.m. ET to get reactions from music’s biggest stars on the death of Whitney Houston.
