Eric Johnson Drops Out of Business School to Date Jessica Simpson Full-Time

Jessica Simpson and new boyfriend Eric Johnson are spending plenty of time together, as evidenced by their Twitter kiss and all that good stuff. How serious are they getting? More than you might think. People says that Johnson has ditched plans to attend business school in Pennsylvania. Is that so the former NFL player can devote more time to dating Jess? Is he just using her, as some sources have suggested in the past month? A friend of his says no … but confirms he did put off grad school. Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson. [Photo: PacificCoastNewsOnline.com] Eric Johnson had planned to attend the prestigious Wharton Business School’s MBA program this month, but “decided against it,” says the friend. “There were a lot of factors that went into his decision.” We can think of two big ones. “Jessica supports whatever he wants to do. He has a lot going on .” She won raves for her Entourage cameo, is reportedly in the running to become an American Idol judge , and has a new VH1 project in the works. “She is in pre-production for a new show,” a TV insider says without elaborating. “It will be the next step to her VH1 series, The Price of Beauty .” No word if the show will be called The Price of Hotness .

Image credit: Wikimedia Commons After years of review and consideration , five penguin species—one native to South America and four others native to New Zealand—will receive U.S. Endangered Species Act protections. Most Nets Skip Over Their Advocacy of Broadcast Profanity; Newspapers Downplay Critical Voices

Most networks skipped over the story of their own corporate advocacy of broadcast profanity last night when the Second Circuit Court of Appeals shredded the FCC’s broadcast decency regulation. (All the networks signed on, with Fox in the lead). NBC’s Brian Williams offered 94 words, but erred in claiming “When a curse word has slipped out in the past, the FCC has imposed heavy fines on networks.” There were no fines for NBC when Bono said “f—ing brilliant” at the 2004 Golden Globes, nor were their fines for Fox when Cher and Nicole Richie for profanity at (respectively) the 2002 and 2003 Billboard Music Awards. ABC and CBS aired nothing. Fox News had no story in the transcripts offered to Nexis for searching. Fox’s corporate brethren at The Wall Street Journal had a story, but reporters Amy Schatz and Jess Bravin wrote a 727-word article with absolutely zero space for critics of the judges’ decision (including the Brent Bozell-founded Parents Television Council). The story did make explicit that Fox “led the case against the FCC and that “Fox is a division of News Corp., which also owns The Wall Street Journal.” Other newspapers offered small scraps for anti-profanity groups. The Washington Post’s front-page story by Cecelia Kang offered 50 words out of 771, in paragraph eight: The Parents Television Council called the decision a “slap in the face,” and Concerned Women for America, an advocacy group for indecency rules, urged the agency to appeal, lest broadcast television be open to the sexually explicit content and language of cable programs such as “The Sopranos” and “True Blood.” The New York Times story by Edward Wyatt put the anti-profanity spokesman in the very last paragraph (of a 17-paragraph story), with just 75 words out of 940: Ted Lempert, president of Children Now, said that while the court’s decision was troubling, it also emphasized the need for clarity about broadcast standards. ”It’s of concern because the F.C.C. has been a critical protector of children’s interests when it comes to media,” he said, adding that he expects that the commission will try to construct a more targeted approach to keeping indecency off the airwaves at times when children are likely to be watching. National Public Radio reported the story on Tuesday night’s All Things Considered by getting a rundown and analysis of the court case from legal reporter Nina Totenberg, but she offered zero reaction to the decision from anti-profanity groups. But on Tuesday’s Morning Edition , NPR offered another story on FCC regulatory policy – on the proposed NBC-Comcast merger – and NPR found air time for several critics gainst the media companies on the antitrust front. (And Totenberg did a story in that program on the Supreme Court year in review , with former Totenberg intern Tom Goldstein insisting there are not really any liberals on the court.) The networks are obviously terrible at covering themselves when they were brazen enough to go to court and argue that they should have the right to broadcast profanities of any kind at any time of the day. That is the effect of the 2nd Circuit’s decision. At the very least, they ought to be willing to air critics of ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox (and CW, if anyone cares). Censoring the story and the dissenters is a cowardly act. Remember this the next time they bray about the “public’s right to know.”

Christina Milian, The-Dream End The-Marriage

Christina Milian and The-Dream have decided to separate. Dream, a.k.a. Terius Nash, confirmed the split via his rep, who confirms he “is saddened to announce that his marriage to Christina Milian was unsuccessful.” “The couple reached this decision in late 2009, but decided to keep the news private in efforts to protect their baby daughter Violet. They ask for consideration and respect for their family moving forward,” the rep said in a statement. Late 2009? They got married in late 2009! Way to give it your best guys! THE-END : One baby and not even one year later, it’s over . The split confirmation comes after racy photos surfaced of The-Dream creepin’ on random hoes, one of whom is his assistant of about a year, Melissa Santiago. The producer and singer proposed to Christina Milian in July 2009. They eloped in September in Las Vegas, and said “I Do” a second time in Rome in December. Milian gave birth to daughter Violet in February, and all seemed well at the time. The-Dream has three children from a previous marriage to singer Nivea. Sad that it didn’t work out. Here’s wishing the couple the best in this difficult time.

Edward Norton Booted from The Avengers Due to Lack of "Creativity and Collaborative Spirit"

Edward Norton is an Oscar-nominated actor. But that bullet point on his resume wasn’t enough to help the star keep his most recent job, as Norton has been booted fron the upcoming big screen adaption of The Avengers . The May 2012 movie will bring together Marvel comic book heroes such as Captain America and Iron Man. It will star Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson , Samuel L. Jackson and more – but will NOT include Norton in the role of Bruce Banner. The studio explained why in this harsh statement: “We have made the decision to not bring Ed Norton back to portray the title role of Bruce Banner in the Avengers. “Our decision is definitely not one based on monetary factors, but instead rooted in the need for an actor who embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members. The Avengers demands players who thrive working as part of an ensemble… We are looking to announce a name actor who fulfills these requirements, and is passionate about the iconic role in the coming weeks.” Snaps, yo ! Replied a rep for Norton: “This offensive statement from Kevin Feige at Marvel is a purposefully misleading, inappropriate attempt to paint our client in a negative light… This seemed to us to be a financial decision but, whatever the case, it is completely their prerogative, and we accepted their decision with no hard feelings.” Norton starred in a 2008 remake of The Hulk that was panned by critics and bombed at the box office.

The 30 Greatest Star Trek Villains

The time has come to look at which adversaries of Kirk, Picard, Sisko, Janeway and, God help me, Archer excel at being truly awful. Since a list like this one would cover all of the various Star Trek movies and films, whittling it down to just a handful would be a task larger than Harry Mudd's underpants. So in an attempt to be as inclusive as possible, the decision was made to focus on 30 of the final frontier's biggest bastards. Who would make the cut? Keep reading for a look at everyone from obvious villains (i.e. KHAAAAANNNNNN!) to more obscure peeps who have brought their intergalactic douchebaggery into our hearts. http://www.toplessrobot.com/2010/07/the_30_greatest_star_trek_villains.php?page=… added by: unimatrix0
