Tyler Sash Dies; Super Bowl Champion Was 27

We are saddened to report that former New York Giants safety and Super Bowl champion Tyler Sash has died.  Iowa State’s medical examiner’s office confirmed the 27-year-old’s death yesterday, September 8. Authorities told media reporters that emergency services were called to the football star’s residence on Tuesday morning. At this time, foul play is not suspected in Tyler’s death .  An autopsy will be performed today, Wednesday, September 9. From 2007 to 2010, Sash played for the Iowa Hawkeyes.  He then played two seasons with the New York Giants, earning a Super Bowl ring in 2011. In a statement about his death, the Giants said, “We were all deeply saddened today to hear of the passing of Tyler. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Tyler’s family and friends and all the Hawkeyes he was so proud to represent.” Former Iowa running back Paki O’Meara described Sash as a quiet guy who was enthusiastic on game day. O’Meara said, ”To think of somebody that was so selfless and gave so much, such a good guy, I’m just really shocked.” Sash’s professional football career came to a halt when he was suspended from the New York Giant for four games after testing positive for Adderall in 2012. The drug is a stimulant used to treat ADHD.  He claimed he had a prescription for it, but that he wasn’t aware it was banned under NFL policy. He then left the team prior to the 2013 opener due to an injury.  He and the Giants reached an injury settlement for a concussion he received during the preseason finale against New England. In May 2014, Sash was arrested in Oskaloosa, Iowa, after running from the police for four blocks while on a motorized scooter. He pleaded guilty to public intoxication and was fined $65. Kirk Ferentz, Iowa’s coach, canceled his weekly press conference on Tuesday.  He later addressed Sash’s death in a statement. He said, “We are all very saddened to hear about the untimely loss of Tyler.” “It is always so difficult when it involves someone this young. Bad Girls Club Star Linsey Jade Dead At 23 Sad news for Bad Girls Club fans. One of the cast members from Season 12 has died at the young age of 22, under still-mysterious circumstances. Darion Marcus Aguilar Identified as Columbia Mall Shooting Gunman

Darion Marcus Aguilar has been identified as the gunman behind the Columbia mall shooting that killed two shoppers yesterday in Maryland. According to police, the 19-year old arrived by taxi to the building and fired between six and eight shots from a 12-gauge shotgun. He ended this heinous act by taking his own life. Columbia Mall Shooting: What Happened? The two victims in the incident have also been identified as 21-year-old Brianna Benlolo and 25-year-old Tyler Johnson. Howard County Police Chief Bill McMahon told reporters today that Aguilar purchased his weapon in December and used it to kill himself. Five others were also wounded in the attack; one by gunshot and four in the stampede that followed once the bullets rang out near a store on the mall’s second floor. All are expected to recover. McMahon added that shooter’s motive was unclear and authorities are investigating whether Aguilar knew either of the deceased, both of whom worked at a skater shop called Zumiez. Late last night, police also revealed that “two crude devices that appeared to be an attempt at making explosives using fireworks” were found inside the shooter’s bag and both were quickly “disabled.” The first 911 call related to the shooting was made around 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, with the mall locked down and considered “secure” by 1 p.m. The building will remain closed today so that K-9 units can check the mall to ensure all is now safe “We are deeply saddened by the violence that has occurred this morning within our store in Maryland at The Mall in Columbia,” Zumiez CEO Rick Brooks said. “We’re making arrangements for counseling to be made available to Zumiez employees in the area.”

Gia Allemand Death: Bachelor Nation Reacts on Twitter

Friends and co-stars of The Bachelor star Gia Allemand are reacting with shock and sadness to the death of the 29-year-old model this week. Gia was taken to University Hospital in New Orleans on Monday night, where she was listed in critical condition following a medical emergency. The details that brought her there were not known until after Gia Allemand died . Her cause of death appears to have been suicide by hanging . As she was in critical condition and on life support, she received an outpouring of prayers and support from her friends and co-stars of Bachelor Nation. Now that she has passed away, those that knew her well are expressing their condolences, memories and love for the reality star and model. Ray Manzarek Dies; Founding Doors Member Was 74

Ray Manzarek, a legendary musician who co-founded The Doors along with Jim Morrison, died today in Germany after a battle with bile duct cancer. He was 74. The group’s official Facebook page announced the sad news, confirming that Manzarek’s wife and two brothers were by his side at the RoMed Clinic when he passed. “I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of my friend and bandmate Ray Manzarek,” said Doors guitarist Robby Krieger today in a statement. “I’m just glad to have been able to have played Doors songs with him for the last decade. Ray was a huge part of my life and I will always miss him.” Manzarek helped create some of rock’s most memorable songs, from “Break On Through to The Other Side” to “Light My Fire.” His family has asked mourners to donate in Manzarek’s name to Standup2cancer.org.

Peter Banks Dies; Yes Guitarist Was 65

Peter Banks, the guitarist for the band Yes, has died at the age of 65. A statement on Banks’ website that he passed away on March 7 and was found in his London home after he failed to show up for a recording session. Widely considered a pioneer of progressive rock guitar, his loss was mourned in a statement by fellow band members from Yes, which was formed in 1968. “We are all deeply saddened to learn about the passing of fellow bandmate and founding Yes member, Peter Banks,” the group statement said. “He was a huge piece of the fabric that made Yes what it is, and our thoughts, sincere condolences and prayers are with and his family at this time.” “Peter, we shall miss you greatly.” Banks performed on the first two albums from Yes, known for its symphonic style and complex instrumentation, and also released five solo records.

We’re guessing this is not the merry holiday season Suzy Favor Hamilton had hoped for. A day after it came to light that the three-time Olympian had been living the secret life of an escort in Las Vegas, Hamilton lost her affiliation with Disney. The middle-distance runner will no longer speak – as she did last August and as she had been scheduled to do in the near future – at the Disneyland Half Marathon. A Disney rep tells E! News that Hamilton “was only an invited guest and she was never paid or acting as a spokesperson for Disney.” Therefore, there were no official contracts to cancel or ties to sever. The married 44-year old and mother of one Tweeted not long after the scandal broke how she was aware of her “irrational choices” and takes “full responsibility for them.” But the fallout continues. The Competitor Group – which sponsored the Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Stiletto Dash in which Hamilton last year – says it is “shocked, embarrassed and deeply saddened” by the revelation that she “lived a double life.” “Admittedly this was a part of a secret life that she did not share with those, like us, that she worked with in her capacity as a former world-class athlete.”

Kate Middleton Nurse Suicide: Jacintha Saldanha Photo Released, Investigation Underway

The first photo of Jacintha Saldanha, the nurse who committed suicide after falling for a prank call involving Kate Middleton, has been released by Scotland Yard. Saldanha passed away hours after being duped by the Kate Middleton prank call , in which two Australian DJ’s pretended to be Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles. Scotland Yard sent out the haunting snap-shot of Saldanha, the nurse on-call at King Edward VII Hospital in London, and whose demise is now under investigation. The 46-year-old’s death is currently listed as “unexplained.” An autopsy will be held next week, according to authorities. Saldanha’s family said in a statement: “We are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved Jacintha. We would ask that the media respect out privacy at this difficult time.” The Australian radio station behind the call also issued a statement Saturday, stating it did nothing wrong and there was no way to have foreseen the tragic outcome. The two DJ’s have suspended themselves from the air. Police in London have contacted their Australian counterparts about speaking with the two radio personalities, Mel Greig and Michael Christian, about the case. While the station claims it did nothing wrong, Greig and Christian’s call, which helped reveal details about the Duchess of Cambridge’s health, was certainly marginal. Nick Kaldas, deputy commissioner for New South Wales Police said: “It hasn’t been indicated to us that an offense has occurred and they have not actually asked for anything yet. “They’ve simply touched base, let us know of their interest and they will get back to us if they actually want something done. Nothing has been requested of us yet.” Kate Middleton Prank Call “As our colleagues in London continue to examine events leading up to the death of Jacintha Saldanha, we will be providing them with whatever assistance is required.” For what it’s worth, the DJs have so far remained tight-lipped after the incident, but are receiving “intensive psychological counseling” to deal with the tragedy. A spokeswoman said that Australian the pair would be speaking with the media, but when would depend on their state of mind, which was described as “fragile.”
