Donald Trump Releases Birth Certificate, Demands $5 Million From Bill Maher

Loudmouth birther extraordinaire Donald Trump is back in the middle of another birth certificate-related controversy, although this time it involves: His own. Bill Maher. The real estate mogul sent a copy of his New York City birth certificate to comedian Maher, who made a Trump-like demand to see the document. Maher, mocking Trump’s PR stunt announcement that he’d donate $5 million to charity if President Obama released his college records, made Trump an offer. On The Tonight Show , Maher said he would donate $5 million to charity if Trump could prove he isn’t the “spawn of his mother having sex with an orangutan.” Maher, of course, is a staunch Democrat and Obama supporter, while Trump made an enormous deal about Obama’s birth certificate back in early 2011. On Tuesday, a lawyer for the Celebrity Apprentice star called Maher’s bluff in hilarious fashion, releasing proof that he is the son of Fred Trump, not an orangutan. In a letter, he told Maher to please remit the $5 million to Mr. Trump immediately for donation to the following five charities in equal amounts: Hurricane Sandy Victims The Police Athletic League The American Cancer Society The March of Dimes The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Well played by The Donald. A representative for Maher did not immediately return a request for comment. On Monday, though, he told Leno he did not want to start a war with The Donald. “I’m not looking for a feud with Donald Trump,” Maher said. Too late. Your move Bill.

‘The Game Is Rigged’: Matt Damon Puts POTUS On Blast Again!!

He’s promoting his new flick and wasn’t holdin’ back on his frustrations with politics. According to the Daily Mail , Matt says he lost hope that the movie would even have some damn impact in Washington: ‘We’re at a point where politicians don’t really get any benefit from engaging with long-term issues,’ he said, according to Politico. ‘Instead, it’s all about the next election cycle. Those guys in the House don’t do anything now but run for office. So unless they can find some little thing that zips them up a couple of points in the polls, they’re not interested.’ Damon’s soured attitude toward the American political system has been a couple years in the making. He made headlines last year when he famously criticized Obama’s first term, even though Damon is a Democrat and supported Obama in 2008. ‘I’ve talked to a lot of people who worked for Obama at the grassroots level. One of them said to me, “Never again. I will never be fooled again by a politician,”‘ Damon said in 2011. ‘You know, a one-term president with some balls who actually got stuff done would have been, in the long run of the country, much better.’ But Damon told Playboy that he voted for Obama in November, despite his criticisms of the president. ‘I assume there will be some Supreme Court appointments in this next term; that alone was reason to vote for him,’ he said. Damon was also asked about Clint Eastwood’s performance at the Republican National Convention. ‘I heard the backlash, but I never saw the whole thing because I just didn’t want to see my friend … you know,’ he said. ‘Look, his knowledge of filmmaking is so vast and deep that he can wing it beautifully on the set. What he did at the RNC was an unrehearsed bit he decided to do at the last minute. You can’t go onstage and do 12 minutes of stand-up completely unrehearsed. But I agree with what Bill Maher said — Clint killed it at the convention for 12 minutes, and the audience loved him. I wouldn’t do that unless I spent a month rehearsing.’ Asked what politics were behind his new movie, he said, ‘We went to the studio saying, “Who f**king wants to go see an anti-fracking movie?” and were all in agreement. When we were working on the script, it was about wind farms, but we changed it to fracking — a good issue because the stakes are so high. That sh*t is real. They’re debating about letting it happen in New York now. To us, the movie was really about American identity. We loved the characters because they felt like real people making the kinds of compromises you have to just to live your life.’ Do you think Washington can’t be changed?? Images via tumblr/facebook

SMH…Texas Teacher Locks Kindergarten Student Up In A Dark Room As Punishment

The boys teacher gave him a ‘time out’ and forgot all about him. His parents had no idea what happened until their son didn’t come home after school…SMH. According to The Houston Chronicle , the teacher hasn’t lost her job…yet: A kindergarten teacher locked a 5-year-old boy in a small, dark room alone at the end of a school day then forgot the child there for over an hour, according to a southwestern Idaho father. School officials said Friday they were investigating after hearing from James Cagle, who says that when his wife found their son the boy was crying and had urinated on himself. “He was scared,” Cagle told Boise television station KTVB. “You know just think about that,” he added. “A 5-year-old boy.” Cagle said he and his wife panicked when their son didn’t come home from his morning kindergarten class Wednesday. About 45 minutes after he was supposed to be home, they headed to Washington Elementary School to look for him. Cagle said his wife and a school secretary found the boy crying and afraid in the small room in the dark, where he had apparently been for around an hour and a half after the teacher put him there for misbehaving. “I know that if I locked my child in a room long enough for him to urinate on himself, I’d be going to jail or child protective services would dang sure be here taking him out of my house that night,” Cagle said. School officials dispute that the room was locked, saying the teacher would not have had a key. Assistant District Superintendent Monica White also noted that the door to the room has a large window, which allows light in from the hallway. Still, officials acknowledge that the discipline was inappropriate. The teacher “should not have done that,” said District Superintendent Tim Rosandick. “That’s not a preferred practice,” Rosandick added. “That is not what we would have wanted her to do.” This is a damn shame! Shady Bolitics: GOP Digs Up “Criminal” Past Of First-Ever Transgendered Government Official And Calls For Her Resignation

GOP Calls For Resignation Of First-Ever Transgendered Government Official Conservative right wingers in New Hampshire have struck gold in the eyes of GOP goons everywhere as they have found a reason to kick the first-ever transgendered government official to the curb. via ABC News Republicans in New Hampshire’s state legislature have called for the first elected transgender official in the state – and the nation – to step down in light of a newspaper article that revealed her criminal past. Stacie Marie Laughton, a Democrat, made history this month when she was elected to a seat in the New Hampshire House of Representatives from Hillsborough County, which includes Nashua. But a story in the Laconia Daily Sun revealed that Laughton was a convicted felon who served more than four months in jail for ”conspiracy to commit credit card fraud” in 2008. Granite State House Majority Leader Pete Silva, R-Nashua, said Laughton’s failure to inform Nashua voters about her background before the election was grounds for her resignation, according to the Nashua Patch. The GOP goons are on their job. Sounds like they’re still salty from that massive L they took during the Presidential election and are taking it out on any Democrat within reach. SMH. Ho Sit Down: Judge Denies Super Salty GOP Goon Allen West’s Request For A Recount In Florida

Somebody get this dude a seat…. Judge Denies Allen West Florida Recount Request Some people just do not know when to take their soggy, deflated, defeated ball and go the hell home… via CBS News A St. Lucie County judge in Florida on Friday ruled against Rep. Allen West’s request for a recount of all early votes cast in his district, denying the one-term Republican’s latest cry for a do-over in the election he officially lost last week. West, a conservative firebrand and hero within the Tea Party, had filed legal complaints even before his loss was certified Saturday, suggesting foul play from St. Lucie County Elections Supervisor Gertrude Walker – a Democrat – in particular. He has not yet conceded. According to the Associated Press, West trails Democrat Patrick Murphy, who declared victory last week and is in Washington for freshman orientation, by 1,900 votes – outside the margin for an automatic recount. How do you STILL not concede after you’ve tried every desperate trick in the book and still come out with an L?

Ashley Judd, Senator? Actress Eyes Run For Office

Although she hasn’t officially decided on it, actress and avid Democrat Ashley Judd isn’t ruling out a run for U.S. Senate in her native Kentucky. Judd lives in Tennessee and would have to re-establish residence in neighboring Kentucky before challenging Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell. The 44-year-old says she’s honored to be mentioned as a potential candidate, but sidestepped the question of whether she would actually run in 2014 . “I cherish Kentucky, heart and soul,” she said. “While I’m very honored by the consideration, we have just finished an election, so let’s focus on coming together to keep moving America’s families, and especially our kids, forward.” No Democrats have stepped forward to challenge Republican McConnell, a political powerhouse who already has $6.8 million in the bank for his re-election. In 2008, he won re-election to a fifth term and became Kentucky’s longest serving senator. McConnell spent some $20 million on his last campaign, beating Democrat Bruce Lunsford, a wealthy Kentucky businessman, by 6 percentage points. His campaign manager Jesse Benton, withheld any criticism of Judd – at least for now. “Sen. McConnell and his wife are big fans of Ashley Judd’s movies and appreciate her energy, especially when it comes to bringing young people into the political process,” he said.  What do you think? Would Ashley Judd, a vocal proponent of President Obama’s 2012 reelection win , make a good candidate for U.S. Senate? [Photo: WENN.com]

Gary Johnson: Obama Will Win Reelection

Libertarian Party presidential candidate Gary Johnson says he thinks President Barack Obama will defeat Mitt Romney to win a second term this evening. “I think Obama’s going to win, that’s what I think,” Johnson said. As for his own support, the former New Mexico Governor said: “[My vote is] really spread out … I don’t think there’s any state I’m going to do better in than another.” Johnson, who’s on the ballot in 48 states and D.C., hovers in the low single digits in the polls. Still, he says he has no regrets at how things played out. “There’s nothing,” Johnson said. “I would ask that everybody look at it and maybe recognize that this is phenomenal that we spent $2 million and may get 5 percent.” “Maybe it doesn’t turn out that way at all – but we spent $2 million bucks and here we are playing in a game that by all accounts we should not be playing in.” A CNN Ohio poll released Friday had President Obama, a Democrat, at 47 percent, Republican nominee Romney at 44 percent and Gary Johnson at 5 percent. It doesn’t make much of a difference which of the major-party candidates wins, Johnson said, citing a list of similarities he sees between Obama and Romney’s policies. Would you vote for a third-party candidate?   Yes, the two-party system sucks! Maybe someday, but I actually like Obama/Romney No! Way to throw your vote away! MPAA Chief Chris Dodd Likes Republican Language On Internet Policy

The scepter of free speech and the protection of intellectual property via the internet reared once again, nearly a year since the Motion Picture Association of America -supported legislation first landed in the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate, only to be resoundingly defeated after a well-coordinated backlash by internet heavy-weights Google Wikipedia and others. MPAA chief Chris Dodd , himself a former U.S. Senator from Connecticut (and a Democrat to boot) gave a thumbs up to the Republican Party’s platform language on intellectual property and the internet. Said Mr. Dodd today via an MPAA release: The Republican Party platform language strikes a very smart balance: it emphasizes the importance of us doing more as a nation to protect our intellectual property from online theft while underscoring the critical importance of protecting internet freedom.  As the party points out, the internet has been for its entire existence a source of innovation, and it is intellectual property that helps drive that innovation.  Copyright is the cornerstone of innovation; it allows creators to benefit from what they create.  As Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor – herself once a Republican elected official – wrote, ‘[I]t should not be forgotten that the Framers intended copyright itself to be the engine of free expression. By establishing a marketable right to the use of one’s expression, copyright supplies the economic incentive to create and disseminate ideas.’ I agree wholeheartedly with my friends in the Republican Party that we must protect the free flow of information on the internet while also protecting American innovators.  It is imperative to our national economy and our national identity that we protect an internet that works for everyone. The Republican platform spells out its interpretation of “Internet Freedom” including its opposition from shifting away from a “multi-stakeholder” approach to internet governance: The Internet has unleashed innovation, enabled growth, and inspired freedom more rapidly and extensively than any other technological advance in human history. Its independence is its power. The Internet offers a communications system uniquely free from government intervention. We will remove regulatory barriers that protect outdated technologies and business plans from innovation and competition, while preventing legacy regulation from interfering with new and disruptive technologies such as mobile delivery of voice video data as they become crucial components of the Internet ecosystem. We will resist any effort to shift control away from the successful multi-stakeholder approach of Internet governance and toward governance by international or other intergovernmental organizations. We will ensure that personal data receives full constitutional protection from government overreach and that individuals retain the right to control the use of their data by third parties; the only way to safeguard or improve these systems is through the private sector. Additionally, the Republican platform said regarding “foreign theft” of intellectual property: “Punitive measures will be imposed on foreign firms that misappropriate American technology and intellectual property.”

Janna Ryan: Five Facts About Paul Ryan’s Wife

Janna Ryan, the wife of U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, has quickly and predictably been thrust into the national spotlight since her husband, a Wisconsin Congressman, was announced as the Republican nominee for Vice President by Mitt Romney. Here are a few things to know about the 43-year-old Janna: 1. Janna Ryan is 43, and married Paul in 2000. She is stay-at-home mom raising three young children in Wisconsin, Elizabeth, Charles and Samuel (above). 2. Ryan, whose maiden name was Little, grew up in Madill, Oklahoma. Both of her parents spent their careers as successful lawyers in private practice. A town in Oklahoma, Little City, is named after her family. Like her parents, Janna has a law degree, having graduated from George Washington in 1998. 3. Her family has strong political – and Democratic – connections; Her uncle, David Boren, served as a Democratic governor of Oklahoma and later as its U.S. senator. Boren’s son, Dan Boren, is Janna’s cousin and a member of House of Representatives. A Blue Dog Democrat, he has often voted across party lines. 4. Before marrying Paul, Janna was a Washington operative herself, forging an early professional career as a congressional aide and healthcare lobbyist. Friends describe her as being able to navigate between different worlds – from small-town Oklahoma, where she’s from, to prestigious Wellesley College and to D.C., where she is well-versed in complex policy debates. “She is very comfortable in and around politics. She grew up in a political family, and it comes very naturally to her,” said Leslie Belcher, a Washington lobbyist who worked on Capitol Hill with Ryan and was later one of Ryan’s bridesmaids. 5. Friends and Romney campaign officials say that while her exact role is unclear, she would undoubtedly be an asset to Romney-Ryan ticket. “I think she is very relatable,” said Missy Edwards, a lobbyist in D.C. who became friends with Ryan when they both worked on Capitol Hill. “She’s from a small town, (with) three young kids, smart, and focused on her family, first.” “They got married eyes wide open, knowing that they wanted to dedicate themselves to public service, and that meant that Janna wouldn’t work, and Paul would dedicate himself” to working in Congress, said Jodi Bond, a vice president at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, who has been friends with the Ryans for decades.
