Ben Higgins officially wants your vote. The former Bachelor contestant has made the political rumor into a reality, announcing today that he is running as a Republican in Colorado’s House District 4. This Denver State House district that is predominantly Democratic and Higgins will be facing off against Democratic Representative Dan Pabon, according to The Associated Press. Higgins is 28 years old. He’s best only known for having starred on the latest season of The Bachelor. We can’t guarantee that Higgins will keep any promises he makes on the campaign trail, but he has thus far kept his vow to marry Lauren Bushnell. The couple has somehow managed to keep its romance intact, several months after filming concluded. Some time later this year, Higgins and Bushnell will even star on the very first Bachelor spin-off to track the lives of a pairing that met on the series. Ben and Lauren: Happily Ever After will air on the Freeform network in the fall. Higgins had previously said the following to Us Weekly: “People reach out to me about community development and planning and how to counsel places that need help, which is really cool because it isn’t something I necessarily had a platform on before, other than my service, and so through all of that the next question was post-Bachelor, this platform that I now had, what should we do with that? “And one of the first things that came to mind was I’ve always had a large interest in politics.” Higgins, of course, has no actual experience in politics. Mrs. Trump’s speech drew instant criticism when a half-dozen lines were found to be in common with Mrs. Obama’s from eight years ago. Meredith McIver, an in-house staff writer at the Trump Organization and former ballet dancer, released a statement Wednesday saying she wrote down portions of the Obama speech – with Mrs. Trump reading them to her over the phone – and included them later in the draft she presented to Melania. ‘I did not check Mrs. Obama’s speeches. This was my mistake, and I feel terrible for the chaos I have caused Melania and the Trumps, as well as to Mrs. Obama,’ she wrote. ‘No harm was meant.’ Good news is Melania's speech got more publicity than any in the history of politics especially if you believe that all press is good press! — Donald J. I think we are the ones who have to start listening to the legitimate cries that are coming from our African-American fellow citizens, and we have so much more to be done, and we have got to get about the business of doing it,” said Clinton. “We can’t be engaging in hateful rhetoric or incitement of violence. Former First Daughter Chelsea Clinton gave birth to her second child over the weekend, welcoming a son into the world alongside husband Marc Mezvinsky. And now Chelsea and Marc have given followers a look at their precious bundle of joy at just one day old. “At 7:41 AM Saturday, our family and hearts expanded with Aidan’s arrival,” Chelsea captioned a photo that depicted her and Mezvinsky looking down at their son. “We are blessed.” Later in the day, Chelsea’s famous mother, presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton shared her own image on Twitter. “What a joy being with our new grandson, Aidan,” the former Secretary of State penned as a caption to the picture, which features here, Aidan and former President Bill Clinton. She added: “So grateful.” Finally, never one to be outdone, Bill Clinton also got into the baby photo spirit. “Aidan has made two dads very happy this Father’s Day. Hillary and I are thrilled for Marc and Chelsea!” Bill wrote about the following photo: Chelsea and Mezvinsky, an investment banker, are already parents to daughter Charlotte, 20 months. Politics aside, this is a special moment for any family, one recognized by Donald Trump on Twitter when he stopped warning of future terrorist attacks and bragging about Twitter followers in order to congratulate the family of his Democratic rival.
