Deputy arrest 5 year old boy “to teach him a lesson” while mom observed and approved.

Lehigh Acres, Fla. While pumping gas at a nearby 7 Eleven Gas Station a Floridian woman witnessed a very disturbing site . A Sheriff’s Deputy was arresting a 5 year old boy and the mother was watching and consenting to the act. The woman, who requested to remain anonymous, snapped a picture from her cell phone, started to cry and said “That's not a way to treat a child, that's not a way to teach a lesson to a little boy,” The mother explained how she had requested to her friend and 15-year old veteran of the Lee county Sherriff’s office to help her teach her son a lesson with a scare. The deputy complied and arrested the boy. “I hope it scared him to figure out that he's not going to play with matches or lighters again,” said the mother. “That was the whole point of it — to make him afraid that he was going to go to jail.” The discipline was too much said Child psychiatrist Omar Rieche. “No matter what the details are, when you see that picture, it says so much,” he said. “The age in which this is being done is inappropriate, so it's misguided.” But the boy's mother said she'd do it again if she had to. The actions of the deputy were not protocol explained the Lee County Sheriff's Office. added by: BRAVATRAVELS

Michael Jackson Doctor Conrad Murray Won’t Make A Plea Deal

‘Plea bargains are for guilty people,’ Murray’s attorney, Ed Chernoff, says. By Mark Maurer Dr. Conrad Murray Photo: Frederick M. Brown/ Getty Images The lawyer for Michael Jackson doctor Conrad Murray announced Friday (April 16) that there will be no plea bargain in his client’s involuntary-manslaughter case, according to The Associated Press. No matter what Deputy District Attorney David Walgren presents, attorney Ed Chernoff contends that “plea bargains are for guilty people.” Chernoff also expressed concerns about the jury remaining impartial in a case regarding a revered entertainer. Murray, a 57-year-old cardiologist, previously pleaded not guilty to the involuntary-manslaughter charges brought up against him in Jackson’s death. Murray gave the singer anesthetic propofol and other drugs, as indicated by the autopsy report. Murray’s bail was set at $75,000 bail, nearly triple the amount set for comparable crimes. Walgren is attempting to prove the doctor demonstrated gross negligence when he gave the singer propofol to help him sleep. More specific evidence might come to light at the June 14 preliminary hearing. Murray continues to declare his innocence, and Chernoff reasons that nothing that he gave Jackson “should have” resulted in death. “You may find after you are done watching the trial that it is not nearly as cut-and-dried as has been presented,” Chernoff told the AP. “One thing that simply will never be the truth is that Dr. Murray pumped a bunch of drugs into Michael Jackson and walked out of that room. He’s not that kind of guy.” Murray admitted to police that he administered those drugs to help Jackson sleep and subsequently left his bedside. Cell phone records reveal that Murray made at least three personal calls around that time. A Jackson employee who said he was present in the hospital room told police that Murray interrupted CPR to collect drug vials. Earlier this month, Los Angeles Judge Michael Pastor delayed the California State Attorney General’s Office’s motion to revoke Murray’s medical license until the June hearing. Members of Jackson’s family , including father Joe, mother Kathleen, sister Janet and brothers Randy and Jermaine, were in attendance. Events and new developments surrounding the singer’s sudden death have persisted for the past 10 months. Jackson died June 25 at the age of 50 in his rented Bel Air mansion mere days prior to a comeback tour in London. He had hired Murray to keep tabs on his health during the rehearsals. Victory In Washington: Jury Finds Medical Marijuana Patient Not Guilty

By Steve Elliott in Toke of the Town Once again, a jury has seen through the lies and distortions and found a medical marijuana patient not guilty. Washington state jurors Thursday afternoon found Cammie McKenzie, who grows marijuana to treat her chronic back pain, not guilty of all charges in a case where prosecutors tried to portray her as a drug dealer. The prosecution’s unsuccessful case was notably nasty, even for a medical marijuana arrest in a state where some law enforcement officials have been slow to adjust to the legalization of medicinal cannabis passed by voters in 1998. “This case is not about medicine. This case is about money,” Snohomish County Deputy Prosecutor Matthew Baldock said in his opening statements Tuesday. “The defendant was masquerading as a marijuana patient and was in reality a drug dealer, no question.” One can only imagine the incensed reaction of Snohomish County’s good voters when they realize their scarce tax dollars are being wasted on foolishness like this. Prosecutors and narcotics detectives claimed McKenzie, 24, was using her medical marijuana authorization as a front for an illegal pot farm at her home in Bothell, Washington, reports Diana Hefley of the Everett Herald Net . McKenzie said that prosecutors based their case on the word of her former roommate, a “known drug dealer” who was promised he wouldn’t be prosecuted if he testified against McKenzie. Jurors ultimately didn’t buy the prosecution’s claims and declared McKenzie not guilty of manufacturing marijuana, which is a felony. Baldock called two witnesses, both detectives with the Bellevue-based Eastside Narcotics Task Force in his case against McKenzie. Defense attorney Natalie Tarantino asked the judge to throw out the charge against McKenzie due to a lack of evidence, including the state’s failure to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that her client is, in fact, the person charged with the crime. Superior Court Judge George Appel denied that motion, instead allowing Baldock to bring a detective back on the stand to testify to the defendant’s identity. Jurors were shown a copy of a driver’s license picturing Cameron Scott Wieldraayer. That was the defendant’s name before she changed her gender and her name. The detective identified the person on the driver’s license as McKenzie. McKenzie herself took the stand Wednesday, testifying at length about marijuana growing methods. She currently runs an Internet business selling growing equipment. The defendant explained how medical marijuana alleviates her symptoms. Marijuana “stops the brain from acknowledging the pain,” allowing her to function, she said. McKenzie told jurors she consumes up to a quarter-ounce a day. She adamantly denied that she was selling marijuana or using her grow operation to make a profit.

John Mayer’s Playboy Interview Begs: Is There Such A Thing As TMI?

Mayer unquestionably went too far, but is it better to have an outspoken celebrity than an edgeless one? By Kyle Anderson John Mayer Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images In this era of super-social connectivity and 24-hour celebrity news, the filter between stars and the audience has shrunk to nothing. By John Mayer’s own admission , he went too far — way too far — with his use of the N-word in his recent, much-maligned Playboy interview , and his use of the word was indefensible. However, part of Mayer’s appeal is that he says outlandish things during interviews, on his Twitter and in his sporadic appearances on the stages of stand-up comedy clubs. The size of his Twitter following audience alone (Mayer has over 3 million people tracking him, which ranks him up there with stars like Ashton Kutcher and Britney Spears) suggests that his verbal unpredictability excites fans and leaves them hanging on his every tweet. Since an initial round of apologetic tweets about the interview , Mayer’s Twitter account had been silent at press time. In the meantime, he has sparked yet another conversation that features fair points on both sides. Is it better to have an honest rock star than an edgeless, overly-managed automaton? “I’d say it’s better to have a rock star who isn’t afraid to open his mouth, but it’s a social contract,” said Caryn Ganz of Rolling Stone, a magazine that has tracked Mayer’s growth from minor singer-songwriter to celebrity guitar hero. “We know he’s going to say some uncomfortable stuff, and he knows he’s going to have to pay the price sometimes. He made a mistake with the racial comments, but in general, I appreciate his unmediated honesty.” Spin Deputy Editor Steve Kandell concurs, but with a caveat. “I mean, of course it’s more entertaining to watch someone put his foot in his mouth,” he said. “Or, better yet, put his foot in his mouth, then set his foot on fire and hop around while shooting himself in his other foot.” Kandell said that having no filter certainly makes stars more interesting, but he worries about fatigue. “It’s human to be that much of an idiot, and right now, it’s still entertaining. But by, I don’t know, Monday? To me, all this is a bigger problem for what we do than the music industry’s woes or the death of print. There’s no one you want to read about.” But the big question is: Does wanting to read about an artist translate into interest in engaging in that artist’s work? “I think being open and unfiltered generally helps the music and is good for album sales — up until you say something racist,” says Lane Brown, editor of New York magazine’s pop culture blog Vulture . Referencing Kanye West’s interruption of Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech during last year’s MTV Video Music Awards, he added, “That will be more difficult to come back from than interrupting an acceptance speech at an awards show.” Even if such notoriety doesn’t translate directly into sales for somebody like Mayer, interest in him remains. “I don’t know a soul who’s ever listened to a John Mayer album, but I’ll read about him,” Kandell admitted. Ganz concurred. “I don’t listen to his music, but I respect him for having an opinion,” she said. “He hasn’t converted me, but he has almost certainly convinced people to buy his albums based on his ability to speak his mind.” For his part, Mayer has said he wants to pull back from the “soundbite game,” limit his media appearances and cut down on Twitter. The coming weeks and months will reveal how he’ll adjust. Tell us what you think: Will you still be interested in John Mayer in the wake of this controversy? Do you prefer your pop stars open and honest, or are they better off leading more guarded lives? Related Artists John Mayer
