Photos of Bruce Jenner dressed in a dress standing outside of his Malibu house hit the internet. Was it an invasion of privacy or a stunt to drive ratings for his interview with Diane Sawyer? Then, a judge ruled that Sherri Shepherd is the MOTHER and she now has to pay child support for the child she had via a surrogate with her ex-husband.
With the release of Avengers: Age of Ultron just over one week away, the film’s A-list cast has been making the rounds to promote a sequel that really needs no promotion. Usually, this means playing Family Feud with Jimmy Kimmel and answering softball questions from the entertainment editor of the Palookaville Post, but earlier today, British journalist Krishnan Guru-Murthy thought he’d take the opportunity to interrogate Robert Downey Jr. about his difficult past, and…well, it went about as well as you would think: Robert Downey Jr. Walks Out of Interview Downey keeps his cool admirably as the Guru-Murthy awkwardly segues from “How cool is Iron Man?” fluff to “What was it like to be an incarcerated drug addict?” hardball stuff. If watch closely, you can see RDJ struggling to suppress his rage, and he gets in some pretty funny jabs before your storming out. (“Your foot’s starting to jump a little bit, you better get to your next question.” “It’s getting a little Diane Sawyer in here.”) Of course, this isn’t the first time that things between Iron Man and the press have gotten a bit “steely,” as Guru-Muthy lamely tweeted. Last year, Downey complimented a reporter’s breasts and referred to feminism as “make believe” in an interview that was every bit as awkward as it sounds. As much as we love RDJ unchained, we’re gonna have to encourage him to tone it down for the next few stops on the promo tour. You don’t wanna leave the public with a bunch of interviews that are more entertaining than the film you’re plugging. View Slideshow: 23 Celebs Who Did Time Behind Bars

What is unsaid is something all of us who follow his family know at this point: The background, the back story, and all the details surrounding the Bruce Jenner sex change , its impact on the star and his famous family members. The former Olympian and reality TV star has long been reported to be transitioning into a woman , and his ever-changing appearance is well documented. Katie Couric and Diane Sawyer have been two of the most respected names in broadcast news for several decades, but a new tell-all book claims that the iconic journalists sank to stunning lows while fiercely competing with one another early in their careers. In The News Sorority , veteran journalist Sheila Weller levels some startling accusations at Couric, Sawyer and CNN’s Christiane Amanpour. Newly released excerpts from the book aren’t flattering for any of the women involved, and one anecdote in particular has caught the Internet’s attention in a big way: “When Diane beat Katie on an interview with a 57-year-old woman who’d given birth to twins,” Weller writes. “Katie mused aloud, according to a person who heard the comment: ‘I wonder who she blew this time.'” Yes, Couric reportedly accused Couric of gaining the upper hand by giving out sexual favors. If true, it was a low blow to be sure. But if the ultimate prize in the competition between Couric and Sawyer was a reputation as a “serious journalist,” then we suppose Sawyer emerged victorious. Sawyer anchored ABC’s World News tonight for five years before stepping down last night to focus on correspondent work. Meanwhile, the much younger Couric was fired from the CBS Evening News in 2011 and went on to host a syndicated daytime talk show. Of course, at the end of the day, all that really matters is that neither of them can lip sync like Brian Williams : Brian Williams Lip Dubs “Gin and Juice”
Appearing alongside husband Mark Kelly, Gabrielle Giffords was a guest today on Good Morning America , touching on a subject she sadly knows all too well: Gun violence. The ex-Congresswoman – who survived a shooting in Arizona two years ago – visited Newtown, Connecticut last week and had one word for Diane Sawyer when the topic turned to these bloody massacres: Enough . “After the shooting in Tucson, there was talk about addressing some of these issues, [and] again after Aurora,” Kelly said. “I’m hopeful that this time is different, and I think it is. Twenty first-graders’ being murdered in their classrooms is a very personal thing for everybody.” To that end, Giffords and Kelly have started Americans for Responsible Solutions. It’s an initiative described on its official site as being meant to “encourage elected officials to stand up for solutions to prevent gun violence and protect responsible gun ownership by communicating directly with the constituents that elect them.” On their visit to Newtown, Giffords and Kelly met with relatives directly connected to the tragedy. “[The] first couple that we spoke to, the dad took out his cell phone and showed us a picture of his daughter and I just about lost it, just by looking at the picture,” Kelly said. “It was just very tough and it brought back a lot of memories about what that was like for us some two years ago.” Giffords and Kelly both own guns and support the Second Amendment, but they denounce the NRA’s hopes to arm schools with security guards and are instead pushing for “common sense” legal changes. For starters, how about comprehensive background checks all around? “Why can’t we… make it more difficult for criminals and the mentally ill to get guns?” asks Kelly, adding that “extended magazines” should be outlawed because they are “only used to kill lots of people.” Giffords still struggles everyday with regular tasks and could only offer a word here and there during the interview, but each spoke volumes: Enough. Strength. Sad. What do you think? Does the country need major gun reform? YES. Fewer guns, fewer tragedies! NO. It’s unconstitutional and won’t stop anything! View Poll »
In his first interview since the 2012 election results dealt him a tough defeat, GOP V.P. nominee Paul Ryan admits losing came as something of a surprise. “We thought we had a very good chance of winning,” the 42-year-old said. Paul Ryan Interview “You know, the polling and the data and all the people who are the smart people who watch this stuff — they had a pretty optimistic view on the night.” “So as you can imagine, it was a bit of a shock when we didn’t win.” As soon as the final numbers on Virginia and Ohio began coming in, says Ryan, “we knew,” adding that President Obama won reelection fair and square. “I’ll let the pundits decide exactly how he won,” says the Wisconsin Congressman. “The point is, [President Obama] got more votes than we did. That’s how he won.” “The president deserves kudos for having a fantastic ground game. And the point I’m simply making is, he won. He won fair and square. He got more votes.” “And that’s – that’s the way our system works. And he ought to be congratulated for that.” Other takeaways from Paul Ryan’s interview with ABC News: He says Obama has no mandate because America also reelected the GOP House, including himself, and that the ideas he ran on are popular. The silver lining? More time with his family; he took a short vacation and didn’t even hear about the David Petraeus scandal until days later. He’s not thinking about the 2016 election . Is Diane Sawyer drunk all the time?
It’s unclear if she was just really excited by President Obama’s reelection win last night, but Diane Sawyer appeared drunk on ABC News. We’re talking like full-on wasted here. Slurring words, bobbing, weaving, rambling about the music, waxing philosophical about symbolism in the exclamation point in Obama’s slogan, generally making no sense … you name it. With due respect to Donald Trump’s rant , this was the LOL and WTF performance of the night. Check out these amazing, possibly drunk Diane Sawyer highlights and see for yourself: Diane Sawyer Drunk?
I know what you were thinking: “Whew! The Oscars are over! No more of this Uggie red-carpet business ! We can back to real celebrities and real celebrity issues — like what Jimmy Kimmel thinks about Kim Kardashian . Hard-hitting!” Alas, guess who went to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner over the weekend? Moreover, guess who just got a freaking book deal ? First off, there’s the Artist wonder dog hamming it up on the WHCD red carpet, presumably awaiting a glass of pinot grigio and maybe a crab cake or just holding poor Diane Sawyer up on her way to the metal detector. It’s hard to know without having been there, and when you consider that a retired Jack Russell terrier was invited and you weren’t, it’s easy to think you should have been there, and what are you doing with your life, paying off five figures’ worth of student loans while this dog has awards campaigns and international social-media notoriety in his name, and maybe you went into the wrong line of business, and really who wants to live longer than 14 or 15 years anyway on this godforsaken rock, especially one riven by war, pestilence and, well, this … More from the AP [via Huffington Post ]: Uggie, the Jack Russell terrier who appeared in the Oscar-winning The Artist , has a memoir coming. Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, announced Friday that Uggie: My Story will come out in October. His tale of tails will be transcribed by biographer and presumed dog whisperer Wendy Holden. Whatever. I’m totally willing to accept responsibility for this and apologize accordingly for the tsunami of existential woe about to wash over every struggling writer in America, on one condition: You’d better cut me in, Uggie.
