The scandalous $50 million defamation lawsuit Tom Cruise levied against tabloid publisher Bauer Publishing has been settled with scant few details available. Tom Cruise Settles Defamation Lawsuit Tom was livid at being portrayed as a deadbeat dad who abandoned his daughter Suri during his divorce from Katie Holmes, and sued the publisher. News of the suit’s resolution came via an e-mail from Lindsay Ferraro, PR director for Bauer celebrity gossip magazines, In Touch and Life & Style . “[The lawsuit] has been settled,” she said of the deal between the two parties. “Terms of the settlement were not disclosed and will remain confidential.” So after a deposition that gave us insight into Scientology, Suri, Tom’s divorce and Cruise (sort of) likening himself to a soldier in Afghanistan … that’s it. Ferraro continued: “[Neither Bauer nor the magazines] intended to communicate that Tom Cruise had cut off all ties and abandoned his daughter.” Cruise called the Suri assertions “patently false” in court last month, claiming he had not “cut [her] out . . . physically, emotionally, financially or otherwise.” Because the suit was dismissed “with prejudice,” it cannot be refiled . Each side agreed to the deal and was responsible for their own legal fees.

Poor woman . Woman Shamed By Doctor For Hickey This is a damn shame in 2013. According to Raw Story A Texas woman who was shamed by her doctor for having a hickey and wanting birth control says she is now forced to drive four hours to a Planned Parenthood clinic for health care due to the state’s new anti-abortion laws. Athena Mason told KUT that her first visit to the doctor as a student at Texas A&M was awkward. “I had a hickey and the doctor was just like, you shouldn’t be doing that,” she recalled. “I’m like, ‘It’s a hickey, it’s nothing major.’ But I got a big lecture. [He said] my boyfriend was abusive and all of these things. And then I asked for birth control. I did not hear the end of that. So I said never mind, I’ll go somewhere else.” Mason started using the Planned Parenthood clinic in Bryan. But that facility is one of four women’s health service providers that closed in August after the state passed new regulations restricting abortions. So Mason now drives four hours to the Planned Parenthood clinic in Austin for health care. Since when do doctors give moral lectures to their patients? Actually the bigger issue may be the public health crisis some of these states are creating by closing affordable health care facilities. SMH.

That’s because he recently purchased a plantation-style home in Coral Gables. The Sun Sentinel reports that he and his wife, Heidi, recently paid out $3.22 million for the five-bedroom, 6,550-square-foot colonial. His new home is one of the original five Florida pioneer village homes, according to the listing. Built in 1926, the home is near the 15th hole at the Riviera Country Club and features a chef’s kitchen, wraparound balconies and a prime outdoor entertaining area with a black-bottom pool, cabana and gardens. Also found on the premises of his new baller crib is a one-bedroom, one-bathroom guest house. Previously in July, the hooper, whose contract is set to expire after the 2013-2014 season, hoisted his South Beach residence on the market with an asking price of $1.895 million. According to National Enquirer reports : Rumors started swirling last month that gorgeous model Cynthia Bailey, 46 – who married restaurateur Peter Thomas in 2010 – might be pregnant, because she appeared to be sporting a paunch at BFF NeNe Leakes’ wedding. The whispers prompted Cynthia to reveal publicly that she had an undisclosed medical condition,” said an insider. The ENQUIRER has learned Cynthia has uterine fibroid tumors that have grown so large they need to be surgically removed ASAP. According to WEBMD, fibroid tumors are composed of renegade muscle cells that band together to form a fibrous mass within the uterus. Like Cynthia’s, they are rarely malignant, but commonly occur between the ages of 30-40, with African-American women at greatest risk. “Cynthia agreed to share her health crisis on the show because she wants other women see what she goes through and be reminded that they need to get regular checkups,” a family friend revealed. “She didn’t go to the doctor because she was working too much.
