Drake And Nicki Minaj Tweet About Getting Married

‘Please refer to @nickiminaj as Mrs. Aubrey Drake Graham,’ Drizzy tweets. By Mawuse Ziegbe Drake Photo: Michael Caulfield/ WireImage It seems like two members of the Young Money family just got a lot closer. On Friday (August 27), Nicki Minaj and Drake seemingly announced on their Twitter pages that they are married. “U scurred? @drakkardnoir u ready to make the announcement or wha?” Minaj tweeted Friday afternoon. Drizzy responded about an hour later with, “Baby I am never scared. PROUD is more the word I would use,” before tweeting , “Please refer to @nickiminaj as Mrs. Aubrey Drake Graham and dont stare at her too long. She’s finally mine. :).” The hip-hip diva re-tweeted Drake’s missive and added , “Yes, its true. Drake and I tied the knot.” A rep for their label had no comment when MTV News reached out Friday. Hip-hop heads have speculated about Drake and Minaj’s relationship before, and buzz spiked when fans heard a very eyebrow-raising line on Drizzy’s “Miss Me” single. “I love Nicki Minaj/ I told her I’d admit it/ I hope one day we get married just to say we f—ing did it/ And girl, I’m f—ing serious/ I’m with it if you with it/ ‘Cause your verses turn me on, and your pants are mighty fitted,” the Toronto MC spits. In June, Drizzy told DJ Envy on MTV2’s “Sucker Free Countdown” that he had genuine feelings for Minaj. “I’ve always really, actually, really had a crush on her, always really loved her, and she’s always just looked at me as, like, her little brother,” Drake said. However, Minaj batted away any ideas that Drake is anything more than just her sometime partner-in-rhyme. “Drake does not have a crush on me,” Minaj assured Envy. “Drake knows how to get you guys’ attention.” What do you think about Nicki Minaj and Drake tweeting that they are married? Bun B Releases Posthumous Pimp C Record Featuring Drake

‘What Up’ released via Twitter, three years after rapper’s untimely death. By Jayson Rodriguez Bun B and Drake in 2009 Photo: Johnny Nunez/ WireImage Bun B released a new posthumous Pimp C record featuring Drake via Twitter on Thursday night, after the UGK rapper amassed 50,000 followers on the social media network. The track, “What Up,” also features Bun B and was produced by Drake collaborator Boi-1da (“Best I Ever Had,” “Forever”). The song will be the first single from the late rapper’s final solo offering, The Naked Soul of Sweet Jones , due October 5. “Now ’cause they empty, I’m just greedy for some more/ I need some more dough, I’m a p-i-m-p, for sure,” Pimp C raps. Pimp C passed three years ago , in December 2007, after an accidental drug overdose , according to the coroner’s report. Bun B has carried the UGK torch since his rhyme partner’s passing and has collaborated with a host of artists, including Drake, who often pay homage to the Port Arthur duo’s legacy. “What up Bun, my n—a, you know we stay down/ And I’m an honorary member of UGK town,” Drake raps during the song’s first verse. “To be honest, I was Drake,” Bun B told Vibe magazine earlier this year about his buzz at the onset of his career. Bun recently told MTV News he’s hoping to shoot a video for his own Drake collaboration, “Put It Down,” from his latest effort, Trill OG. “It’s very hard to live up to the hype the people create for things nowadays; luckily, this song did,” Bun said of the track. ” ‘Cause a lot of times, people build something up, and it’s almost impossible to match up to that. In this case, it matched up to it. And the fact that the other song, ‘It’s Been a Pleasure,’ is on it as well, you get two for two. It’s always a good thing when me and the young boy get together. It’s special music. That’s how I feel, and I think that’s how Drizzy feels.” Related Artists Drake

Drake And Lil Wayne: We Rank Their Top 5 Collabos!

From Young Money posse cuts to the latest ‘Miss Me,’ the MCs are a dynamic duo when they share a track. By Jayson Rodriguez Drake and Lil Wayne Photo: John Shearer/Wireimage Drake premiered his latest video, “Miss Me,” on Thursday. After dropping his first two singles, “Over” and “Find Your Love,” the Toronto lyricist decided to deliver a collaborative effort on this round, teaming up with his mentor, Lil Wayne. And as this clip shows, from mixtape offerings to Young Money posse cuts and beyond, the pair have proven adept at trading rhymes on the same track. Earlier this year, Drake even confirmed he and Weezy would work on a joint LP together. Before that project arrives, MTV News went back through their work to present Drake and Lil Wayne’s top 5 collabos thus far.

Drizzy also pleads with Wiz Khalifa to join him on Light Dreams and Nightmares Tour during Ustream broadcast. By Mawuse Ziegbe Drake Photo: Michael Caulfield/ WireImage Drake is doing it big right now. The Toronto MC’s debut album, Thank Me Later, is platinum, he’s about to headline his upcoming Light Dreams and Nightmares Tour and he’s just notched 1 million Twitter followers. With that type of success, there’s probably very little that is out of the lyricist’s reach. But Drake revealed that there is one thing he wants that he hasn’t been able to secure yet: snagging Wiz Khalifa as his tourmate. “I had a little bit of a fan moment, I tried to get this third cat on my tour,” Drizzy told more than 30,000 fans who logged on to check him out live on Ustream on Thursday (August 19). The broadcast came on the heels of the premiere of his “Miss Me” video with Lil Wayne. Apparently, Drake was keeping his plan to add another act to his tour on the low. “You know we was trying to get Wiz on the tour,” he said, simultaneously informing listeners and his team who were hanging out in the room and clearly didn’t know what he was referring to. The MC then addressed his fans once again: “Hopefully, the Light Dreams [and] Nightmares Tour, depending on what city we go to, it’ll be Clipse, Bun B and Wiz Khalifa . That’s what I’m hoping. I don’t know, maybe I spoke too soon.” Clipse were already confirmed to join the Young Money MC on the road, along with Houston O.G. Bun B, when the tour kicks off on September 20 in Miami. The chart-topping singer and rapper asked the “Hottest Breakthrough MC” directly about possibly joining the fall tour. “If Wiz by any chance watches this, you gotta make some calls for me and make this happen,” Drake said. “We got that young energy right now, we need to go out here and kill these people.” In addition to making his plea for a more Taylor Gang-friendly Light Dreams tour lineup, the MC said he really wants to work with producer 9th Wonder on the follow-up to Thank Me Later. “9th, can we start this next album please?” Drake asked. “Because I know you in the studio,” he added, urging the North Carolina artist to work on his sophomore effort, which Drizzy hopes to release by next year. The rapper also revealed that he initially wanted the ex-Little Brother beatsmith to contribute to Later, but wasn’t able to make it happen. “I’d greatly appreciate it if we could get some work done because I know last time we weren’t able to do that.” While his touring and production rosters are still up in the air, Drake said he could confirm to fans that one particular event is a definite: a homecoming concert for Lil Wayne. “November 5, the Welcome Home Weezy concert,” Drake said. Although he didn’t reveal the location, Drizzy assured fans they wouldn’t want to miss it. “That’s gonna be crazy,” Drizzy smiled. “I told you I got you. I would never just Ustream and talk about nothing.” Do you think Drake and Wiz Khalifa should tour together? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Drake Lil Wayne Wiz Khalifa

Drake And Lil Wayne’s ‘Miss Me’ Video To Premiere Thursday

Portions of the clip, which debuts at 8 p.m. ET on MTV, were filmed before Weezy began his prison sentence. By Jayson Rodriguez Lil Wayne and Drake (file) Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Drake ‘s “Miss Me” video, featuring Lil Wayne , is set to premiere Thursday on MTV at 8 p.m. ET. The clip was recorded in two sessions: one featuring Lil Wayne before the rapper turned himself in to start his yearlong prison sentence and another more recently in July as Drake put the finishing touches on the visual. The video is Drake’s third overall from his debut album, Thank Me Later, following “Over” and “Find Your Love,” both of which were directed by Anthony Mandler (Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna). Earlier this year, Drake spoke with Sway prior to the kickoff of his Away From Home Tour and talked about his collaboration with Weezy. “It’s a pretty straightforward [song],” he told MTV News. “It’s a song about being away from what you love and hoping that when you’re gone, doing you, somebody out there misses you. It goes for Wayne in his situation and it goes for me in my situation, ’cause I’m on the road for I don’t how long right now.” Originally, the song was slated as a collaboration between Bun B and Drake. But Wayne, perhaps with his then-impending jail term in mind, heard the record and wanted to join his prot

Justin Bieber Joins Drake on Stage, Considers Kanye Collaboration

Justin Bieber is a wanted young man – and we aren’t just referring to the singer’s popularity among teenage girls! The artist joined hip hop star Drake on stage this weekend in Indianapolis, rapping along to “Bet I Ever Had.” Said Drake to the sold-out crowd: “This kid is part of something special. Lil Wayne Debuts New Single, ‘Right Above It,’ Featuring Drake

First track from I’m Not a Human Being EP aired on New York radio on Tuesday. By Jayson Rodriguez Lil Wayne Photo: C. Flanigan/ Getty Images Lil Wayne dominated New York’s hip-hop radio stations on Tuesday night, when the Cash Money Records superstar conducted an interview on Hot 97, and almost simultaneously, his new single, “Right Above It,” featuring Drake, premiered on Power 105. The song is the first effort from Lil Wayne’s forthcoming EP, I’m Not a Human Being, slated for release on September 27 (Lil Wayne’s birthday). During his Hot 97 interview with Funkmaster Flex, Wayne said he recorded the music for his upcoming EP before turning himself in to serve a yearlong prison sentence. “Yes, it’s gonna drop before Carter IV, only on the Internet,” Wayne said over the phone. “This is stuff that I recorded right before I came here.” “Meet me on the fresh train,” Wayne raps over the synth-laden production. “Yes, I’m in the building, you just on the list of guest names/ And all of my riders don’t give a f—, X-games/ Guns turn you boys into … sex change.” Wayne later chants on the chorus: “Now tell me how you love it/ And know you at the top and only heaven’s right above it.” Earlier this year, Drake told MTV2’s “Sucker Free” host DJ Envy that he and Lil Wayne are planning on recording a joint project once Wayne finishes his sentence. “I went up to Rikers, and me and Wayne agreed that there will be a Lil Wayne/ Drake album,” Drake explained. “There’s some things I’m excited for in my life — I’m excited to go perform certain places — but [this project] will probably be one of the most exciting things in my life, because we make music on a different level. It’s just so fun, so comfortable. A whole album? To think about all the things we can do, especially if we’re gonna do 15 songs. Me and him don’t like to do 12, 13 [songs]. We want to do 15, 16. Yeah, Lil Wayne and Drake album.” What do you think about Lil Wayne’s “Right Above It,” featuring Drake? Let us know in the comments or tweet us @MTVRapFix . Related Artists Lil Wayne

Drake Reveals His Biggest Thank Me Later Regrets

The rapper laments one early leak and two songs he wishes were on the album. By Jayson Rodriguez Drake Photo: MTV News One of the most ambitious tracks on Drake ‘s Thank Me Later is The-Dream duet “Shut It Down,” a sweeping number about seduction that clocks in at nearly seven minutes. Unfortunately for Drake, an unfinished version of the song leaked three months before the release of his debut album. The final product is a slow-grinding effort that comes to a climax with a Drake rap after the pair croon throughout their respective verses. A second leak, “Darlin’ ” featuring Lil Wayne, and the “9 AM in Dallas” freestyle, an urgent battle-style rap — both of which were recorded after Thank Me Later ‘s deadline — are pretty much the only faults Drake found with his debut. “The saddest part to me is that I would have made ‘9 AM in Dallas’ the intro for the album, but I did it the day of mastering, which is crazy, so it couldn’t make the album,” Drake told MTV News. “That’s probably my greatest upset, was the fact that it couldn’t be on the physical disc and be a part of that album. ‘Darlin’ ‘ was a loss just because it was never mixed, and every time I hear it in the club, you can never really hear the words. I think the words are the best part of that song. I think Wayne painted such a vivid picture. I tried to come in and add my little two cents at the end. “Most of the music made it,” he continued. “Most of the music we held for a long time, and the stuff that did leak, it was pretty good references. It wasn’t anything I was too upset about. ‘Shut It Down’ leaking early was painful. I think it could have been a bigger record had it not been out there so long. And ‘Fall for Your Type’ I wish was on there, but I have other plans for that record, so it’s gonna be good.” Despite records leaking and the Toronto lyricist’s album arriving online before its June 15 due date, Drake told MTV News on the day of Thank Me Later ‘s release that he never considered changing his plans for putting the project out. “They tried to force me into a situation — I’m not sure if it was the label — [but] somebody tried to force me into a situation and drop the album June 9,” Drake said. “I really was like, ‘June 9 isn’t enough time to let them digest all the leaked music. If they got the music already, let’s let them listen to it. Let’s give them that two weeks to ride around to it and talk to their friends about it.’ ‘Cause that way, when they show up to the store, there’s no pressure — you know what you’re buying. You’re just going to support an artist you love and music you believe in.” What do you think of Drake’s take on his debut album? Tell us in the comments, or tweet @MTVRapFix ! Related Artists Drake

Drake’s ‘Fancy’ Was Mary J. Blige’s Song First, Swizz Beatz Reveals

Producer also says Drizzy wanted Andre 3000 on the track along with him and T.I. By Shaheem Reid Drake Photo: Michael Caulfield/ WireImage Drake ‘s new single “Fancy” almost ended up on two other albums before it finally landed on Thank Me Later. ” ‘Fancy’ has been well-traveled,” said Swizz Beatz, who produced the song. “It started off as a Swizz record. Then I got Mary [J. Blige] on it. It was supposed to be on her [ Stronger With Each Tear ], but we missed the deadline. Then I pulled it back for my [upcoming] record. Then five o’clock one morning, on the phone speaking with Drake, he’s in a different time zone, we’re trying to figure out what he needs [for his album]. He’s like, ‘Yo, I just need a record for the ladies.’ I’m on my computer playing him joints over the phone. Then I played him ‘Fancy.’ I was like, ‘You want something like this?’ But I was playing it as a reference.” On the original version of “Fancy,” Swizz raps about an educated girl who works at the Guggenheim Museum, while MJB sang about an independent female. “She got it all together,” Blige sings. “She don’t need you to help her/ She got her own paper/ She don’t need you to take her on a shopping spree/ My girl’s fancy, fly and free.” Drake didn’t want something like what Swizz played; he wanted that exact song for his album. “He was like, ‘That’s the record I need,’ ” Swizz recalled. “I said, ‘OK, I’ll make you that.’ ” Drake replied: “No. That’s the record I need.” Swizzy gave up the goods. “I’m a producer first,” Swizz said. “So he can have the record. I’m still on it, it’s still love. He’s a heck of an artist, and I feel no ways but honored.” The finished version of the song we hear on the album features Drake, Swizz and Tip, but at least one other MC was on the wish list to be on the song. “Andre 3000 was supposed to be on ‘Fancy,’ ” Swizz revealed. “Drake had a group of people he wanted to be on it: Andre, Tip, this one, that one. But the deadline for the album rushed a lot of things. [Drake] can tell you the rest, but Tip just wound up being on it. Which I’m cool with, cause that’s the homie.” Drake is filming the videos for “Fancy” and “Miss Me” this week in Atlanta. Are you glad “Fancy” ended up with Drake? Let us know in the comments!
