The friend — an enigmatic celebrity sidekick named Raffles van Exel — tells us, he is “neither the architect nor the culprit of the sudden demise of Whitney Houston.” Raffles was with Whitney in the hours before she died at the Beverly Hilton hotel in February — and there were widespread reports strongly insinuating he was the singer’s secret cocaine supplier. There were other reports suggesting Van Exel was also the one who snapped the infamous picture of Whitney’s body in a coffin … and sold it to a tabloid newspaper. But for the first time ever, Van Exel is adamantly denying all the reports — and has begun taking aggressive legal steps to save his reputation. Van Exel has started firing off cease and desist letters to media outlets reporting any nefarious connection between him and Whitney’s death — demanding full retractions asap … or else. Friends Say Mary Kennedy Driven To Drugs/Suicide By Philandering Husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The Kennedy “curse” strikes again, but in this case we’re inclined to think the curse has more to do with the Kennedy men’s cheating ways . Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s estranged wife, Mary, who battled her husband’s rumored philandering by turning to alcohol and prescription drugs, hanged herself in a barn on their Westchester estate yesterday, sources told The Post. The 52-year-old mother of four — the latest victim of a family dynasty cursed with tragedies — may have taken her own life because she was haunted by her broken marriage, her friends lamented. “She was deeply troubled, abusing alcohol and prescription meds,” a close family friend said. “She had cause. She was used up and tossed away by Bobby. That was awful.” Bedford police responded at 1:36 p.m. to a report of a “possible unattended death” — meaning there were no witnesses — at the estate. After authorities arrived, they cut her down and tried to revive her. She was found by a housekeeper, ABC News reported. Mary was found “inside an out-building on that property,” police said in a statement. She left behind a note, and none of her children were home at the time, sources said. The Kennedy family dealt stoically with the latest in the long line of shocking deaths. “We deeply regret the death of our beloved sister Mary, whose radiant and creative spirit will be sorely missed by those who loved her,” the family said in a statement. “Our heart goes out to her children, who she loved without reservation. We have no further comment at this time.” A grim-faced RFK Jr. showed up at the house at around 8 p.m. The third of 11 children of former US Sen., Attorney General and presidential candidate Robert Francis Kennedy, he married Mary Richardson in 1994, one month after his first marriage ended following 12 years. The ceremony took place aboard a research vessel on the Hudson River, a fitting spot for the couple, who were environmental advocates. A family friend said Mary had known the Kennedy clan long before she married Bobby, and had been a close pal of his sister — also named Mary, but known as Kerry — since they were 15-year-olds. “She had grown up with the Kennedy family, having been Kerry’s best friend since they were teenagers,” the friend said. The marriage broke down amid reports of her addiction and rumors of his involvement with other women. “She knew Bobby her whole life, and now he rejected her. Tragic,” the family friend said. A day after the divorce filing, Bedford police were again called to the home because of a report of a “domestic incident” in which Mary was reportedly drunk. Two days later, she was charged with driving under the influence when she was caught speeding down the Taconic State Parkway. Her license was suspended. Ethel Kennedy, her mother-in-law, sent a handwritten letter, seeking leniency and calling Mary a “kind, loving and generous person.” Cops confirmed then that they had been called to the estate several times in the previous years. Mary’s close friend pointed to the strain of her 18-year marriage. “She was lovely. She always looked out for you,” she said, but added, “She did not have it easy, being Bobby’s wife. “I remember being seated at a dinner next to Bobby around 10 years ago that she was also at — it was the first time I had met either of them — and he put his hand on my thigh under the table. We hadn’t even spoken but to say hello. He is such a dog that way.” The friend, who requested anonymity, alluded to the problems of other women who have married into the fabled clan: “Like all Kennedy wives, she was expected to tow the line. Stay quiet, take care of the kids, tolerate the affairs and look happy. She took solace in yoga and meditation.” Still, the philandering took “a terrible toll,” the source said, adding, “He got all the glory, and she got no acknowledgment for what she did: holding it all together at home.” Kennedy rarely spoke about his private life, but opened up to Oprah Winfrey in a 2007 interview. “Pretty soon after my dad died” — referring to his father’s assassination in 1968 — “I started taking drugs,” he said. After overcoming his addiction he became an environmental advocate. Mary, who had worked as an architect before her marriage, took up the same environmental causes and tried to turn the Bedford estate into a showcase, according to her friend. “She was a gentle soul. She was very proud of how she had turned their family home into the truly greenest/eco-friendly home ever,” she said. Eiserman said another officer was on routine patrol Friday when he pulled Woods over for a broken rear light and found marijuana in his car. When the officer searched Woods before placing him in the police cruiser, he discovered “a large bulge” in the front of his pants, Eiserman said. Police say Woods actually had the balls to deny that there was any contraband down there. “He stopped him for the traffic violation and one thing led to another,” Eiserman said. Sweet baby Jesus… Autopsy Reports State Drugs And Paraphernalia Found In Whitney Houston’s Hotel Room According to TMZ reports : A “spoon with a white crystal-like substance on it” and a “white powdery substance” — which we know was later tested and determined to be cocaine — was found in the hotel room where Whitney Houston died … this according to the singer’s final autopsy report. The report , which gives a detailed description of Whitney’s room when officials arrived, says “Located on the south portion of the counter was a small spoon with a white crystal-like substance in it and a rolled up piece of white paper, along with other miscellaneous items.” “Located in the top drawer, in the north side of the counter were remnants of a white powdery substance, and a portable mirror on a base.” Officials found more white powder on the base of the mirror. The report also states, “[Whitney] possibly overdosed on a narcotic substance, prescription medications, over the counter medications and alcohol.” According to the report, Whitney’s body was discovered FACE DOWN in the bath tub … with a “bloody purge coming from her nose.” Officials say there were no signs of foul play. The report notes Whitney had a history of substance abuse … which was evident by a “perforation of posterior nasal septum.” The singer’s official cause of death is listed as accidental drowning — but heart disease and “chronic” cocaine use were contributing factors. Rep for Ray J said he was upset about claims that he was Houston’s enabler. By Gil Kaufman Ray J and Whitney Houston Photo: Denise Truscello/WireImage Just hours after the world learned that the Los Angeles County coroner determined that Whitney Houston died as a result of accidental drowning with cocaine use and heart disease as contributing factors, the finger pointing began. Leolah Brown, the sister of Houston’s ex-husband, Bobby Brown, went on the “Dr. Drew” show on HLN on Thursday night and made some salacious allegations aimed at Houston’s frequent companion, singer Ray J. Leolah claimed that she saw Ray J leaving Houston’s hotel room in a hurry on the night of her death in February. “I saw Ray J coming out of the hotel, hiding his head, being pushed into the car,” she told Drew. “Why? I looked and I said, ‘why is he hiding his face?’ He’s always trying to show his face when he’s around Whitney. Why now? Why are you trying to hide now Ray J?” She went on to allege that Ray J was never Houston’s boyfriend, as widely reported, but that he was her “runner boy,” and that he often fetched and gave her drugs. Drew said that CNN/HLN could not independently confirm Leolah Brown’s claims. But a spokesperson for Ray J denied the allegations, telling TMZ that he had no knowledge that Houston was using again before her death. Furthermore, the unnamed rep said Ray J was not even with Houston on the day she died, but was in San Diego. While a final coroner’s report is not due for two more weeks, the initial report claims that traces of cocaine were found in Houston’s system at the time of death along with anti-anxiety drug Xanax, muscle relaxant Flexeril, marijuana and Benadryl, which officials said played no role in her death. No cocaine was found in the singer’s room when she died, but coroner spokesman Craig Harvey noted that cocaine metabolites were found in her system, leading them to conclude that Houston was a chronic user of the drug. A number of prescription pills were recovered in the Beverly Hills hotel room, but officials from the coroner’s office said there wasn’t an unusual amount of medication.
