Robert Pattinson’s ‘Remember Me’ DVD Due June 22

DVD release is just over a week before ‘Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ hits theaters. By Eric Ditzian Emilie de Ravin and Robert Pattinson in “Remember Me” Photo: Summit Entertainment Just over a week before “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” hits theaters, Robert Pattinson ‘s romantic drama, “Remember Me,” arrives on DVD and Blu-ray June 22. Both discs will feature audio commentaries with RPattz, as well other castmembers and the filmmakers. Co-starring Emilie de Ravin, Pierce Brosnan and Chris Cooper, “Remember Me” tells the story of Tyler (Pattinson) and Ally (de Ravin), two young New Yorkers who meet and fall in love in the summer of 2001. “I never really played a normal guy before, and it was just that,” Pattinson told us about the role in March. “It was just a really solid story, and I had never really done that.” He first encountered the script shortly after finishing “Twilight” and ended up shooting the film in between production on “New Moon” and “Eclipse.” Filmmakers had been unsuccessfully trying to cast the role of Ally when de Ravin came in to audition . “I read the script three weeks before they started shooting,” she told us. “I flew to New York to test with Rob, and we immediately got along and had instant, great chemistry, which is not an easy thing to come by. Obviously, you’re acting, but you want to have that connection with somebody. We had it. And I was thrown into a wardrobe fitting that same day.” Released in the U.S. in March, “Remember Me” grossed $46.9 million worldwide. The Blu-ray will sell for $34.99, while the DVD is priced at $26.99. Starting June 15, fans can download a redeemable coupon for $8 off their purchase. Summit is also packaging the discs with an offer for a free movie poster of Pattinson that is redeemable by mail. Stone Sour’s Audio Secrecy Is ‘Loaded With Melody,’ Corey Taylor Says

‘It’s probably the best thing I’ve done in a long time,’ says the singer, who also fronts Slipknot. By James Montgomery Corey Taylor Photo: MTV News Corey Taylor isn’t mincing words when it comes to the new Stone Sour album — and yes, he realizes this might offend fans of his other band, Slipknot. “It’s so good, man. Every song has a catchy hook — even the heavy stuff — every song is loaded with melody. It’s still got the attitude, but it’s there. It’s probably the best thing I’ve done in a long time,” he told MTV News. “I mean [Slipknot’s 2008 effort] All Hope Is Gone was a great album, and I worked really hard on it, but on this album … coming in with the amount of material — we recorded 18 songs — and knowing that every tune not only has its own identity but is damn good, I’m very, very proud of that.” Yes, Taylor is willing to talk at great length about Audio Secrecy, the follow-up to Stone Sour’s breakthrough 2006 album, Come What(ever) May. Recorded at Nashville’s iconic Blackbird Studios — the first time he’s made an album outside of Los Angeles or his native Iowa — it’s a record positively brimming with ideas, one that, as he put it, represents “everything that we’ve been threatening to do,” even if that means exploring far quieter, more refined sonic territories. “I finished my last song two days ago, and it’s all killer; there’s no filler. It’s so good. I mean, there’s so many vibes and so many styles, but it’s all cohesive. The continuity is there,” he said. “It doesn’t sound like a comp album, it doesn’t sound like 12 bands coming in going, ‘We’re going to record a song!’ It sounds like a band exploring, which, to me, is [a] really old-school tradition. “You never used to go in and just kind of chop out a bunch of songs and throw it out there. The old guard would go in, and they would just record what they had. They would record the songs that they wrote, because they wrote them. It didn’t have to sound a certain way, didn’t have to be a certain way, it didn’t all have to sound the same,” he continued. “It had life, and that’s what we did with this. … We just said, ‘You know what? We wrote this. So what if this is heavier than that? So what if this is in a major key and these are in minor keys? … We feel this, so let’s go for it.’ ” The funny thing is, though he’ll seemingly never run out of good things to say about the album, there’s plenty he’s mum about. Perhaps in keeping with its title, there’s still no firm release date for Secrecy, and Taylor wouldn’t reveal if all 18 songs would make the final track list (“There’s a plan hatching … that’s all I’m gonna say”). And when asked about his favorite song on the album, he would only say, “They’re all killer,” before singling out a piano-laden track called “Miracles” as a standout. “I play piano on a bunch of songs. One of them is called ‘Miracles,’ which is really dark but kind of crescendos into this huge chorus at the end,” he said. “There’s so much more, though. We have an overabundance of writers in this band. We all write, so it’s not a case of one guy writing all the songs or no one writing the songs. It’s a complete thing.” While Taylor is playing things close to the vest with Stone Sour, things aren’t quite the same with Slipknot. After wrapping a world tour in support of All Hope Is Gone in late 2009, the band went on a rather informal break — and, from the sound of things, not much has changed since then. For the immediate future, Taylor is 100 percent focused on Stone Sour. “There’s nothing really happening [with Slipknot],” he said. “There’s a DVD coming out, apparently, that I will be informed of so I can promote it. Nobody talks to me about these things. I get a complimentary copy. I mean, I still don’t have a copy of [the band’s 2002 DVD] ‘Disasterpieces.’ What the f—?” Are you looking forward to new music from Stone Sour? Let us know in the comments. Alec Baldwin Ties ‘SNL’ Hosting Record; Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers Perform

’30 Rock’ star joked that his 15th hosting gig put him ’14 shows ahead of Ms. Betty White.’ By Amy Wilkinson Alec Baldwin Hosts “SNL” Season Finale Photo: NBC He may not have made us forget about “old what’s-her-name” Betty White , but Alec Baldwin did enter the “Saturday Night Live” record books during this week’s season-finale episode, hosting the sketch comedy show for the 15th time. That put him, as he joked, “14 shows ahead of Ms. Betty White.” Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were the musical guest. The “30 Rock” star shares the record for most times hosting with his Oscars co-host and “It’s Complicated” co-star, Steve Martin. Baldwin joked during his opening monologue about the imagined rivalry between the two, with Martin chiming in via satellite to deliver his own White-themed zinger. “I’d like to thank all of my friends at Facebook Mexico for demanding I appear in this ‘Saturday Night Live’ monologue,” Martin said before Baldwin abruptly turned off the television. Baldwin also made light of the honorary degree he received from his alma mater, New York University, while delivering the commencement address recently at Yankee Stadium. “From now on, I would like you to call me Dr. Alec Baldwin, OB/GYN.” As expected, living up to White’s ratings-busting episode proved difficult, with many of last night’s sketches feeling flat. Following a Digital Short starring Andy Samberg as a singing cokehead, Baldwin played a mustachioed cowboy in a “Dallas”-like television show called “Arizona Evenings,” where he was repeatedly interrupted by a big-toothed script supervisor named Starfish, played by Kristen Wiig. He later donned a floppy blond wig and spewed insults as a disgruntled high school swim coach, played the father to oddly clingy teen Bedelia, played by Nasim Pedrad, and hawked a time-traveling microwave called the Timecrowave on an infomercial. He also appeared in Kenan Thompson’s recurring sex tutorial sketch as Greek Costas, demonstrating moves like “Check the Faucets” and “The Facebook” for the instructional DVD “Grady Wilson’s Intimate and International.” The pouf was back as Bobby Moynihan layered on the bronzer to play Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi of “Jersey Shore” for a guest appearance on Weekend Update to talk about the upcoming season being filmed in Miami. “Do you know what Florida’s main export is?” he asked Seth Meyers. “Oranges! People keep getting us confused.” And no strangers themselves to the “SNL” stage, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers performed two tracks, “I Should Have Known It” and “Jefferson Jericho Blues,” off of their upcoming album, Mojo, which drops June 15. Russell Crowe Takes Us Inside Robin Hood’s Climactic Speech

‘Robin’s not a grandiose bloke,’ Crowe says of his everyman character. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Todd Gilchrist Russel Crowe Photo: MTV News Russell Crowe gives good speech. Throw on a DVD of “Gladiator” or “Master and Commander” and see for yourself: The dude can give such a killer pep talk, he’ll have you rising out of your La-Z-Boy to join whatever crusade he’s hyping. His rousing speech as the title character in “Robin Hood,” however, was of an entirely different nature and required a sufficiently distinct approach on Crowe’s part. Not that everyone around him, including director Ridley Scott, initially agreed with Crowe’s plan. “Robin’s not a grandiose bloke,” Crowe told MTV News. “Everybody around it was thinking that, ‘You have to take this one to the bank, man. You have to nail it. This has got to be like the moment from “Gladiator” when you said such and such.’ I was like, ‘Well, he’s not that guy.’ That guy was a general. He’s used to being in control and he can’t help but stamp himself on a moment. Robin’s just a bloke.” That is to say, Crowe’s Robin Hood does not begin the film as some steal-from-the-rich-give-to-the-poor superhero. In fact, this Robin is more concerned with self-preservation than anything approaching public altruism. What changes him is falling in love with a woman — the ethereal Cate Blanchett as Maid Marion — and learning the secret history of his father. And so when it comes time for Robin to confront the nefarious King John, who’s gone off on a quest to tax almost every last penny from his indigent subjects, Crowe brings a sort of everyman attitude to his speech. “You’ve got to be real in this moment,” he explained. “You are talking to a king, so you can only go so far. He’s got to know his place. It’s not interesting if he takes a contemporary attitude and goes, ‘I don’t f—ing care if you’re a king.’ You’ve got to stay in that pocket. “Take the cape off him, take the mask, he’s just a man,” he added. On DVD: A Quarter-Billion Cantinflas Fans Can’t Be Wrong

Who’s Cantinflas? You may not have heard of him, but hundreds of millions of Latinos and Latinas from Buenos Aires to Beverly Hills know him as the most famous Mexican movie star ever — a comic figure so infused in popular Spanish-speaking culture that his name is officially an adjective and verb recognized by the Royal Spanish Academy. Think about it: A quarter of a billion people use your name in everyday conversation during your lifetime (he died in 1993). That’s props. And now Sony is paying tribute of its own.

Katy Perry Back To Looking Good

I’m a little surprised and pleased to see hipster dufus Katy Perry actually looking pretty good at the Costume Institutes Gala Benefit last night. I guess all that working out has finally paid off. I tried working out yesterday, I did the first day of that ninety day P90X workout DVD, but I’m so sore today that I may have modified it so it’s more like P1X . Mission accomplished. Anyhow, I know it’s just a matter of time before we see Katy back in her hipster gear so enjoy it while you can.

Living Downstream links environment and cancer

There was once a village along a river. The people who lived there were very kind. These residents, according to parable, began noticing increasing numbers of drowning people caught in the river’s swift current. And so they went to work devising ever more elaborate technologies to resuscitate them. So preoccupied were these heroic villagers with rescue and treatment that they never thought to look upstreams to see who was pushing the victims in. Living Upstream is a walk up that river. Author, environmentalist and cancer survivor Sandra Steingraber, Ph.D., was raised in a family that seemed prone to cancer. She was diagnosed with bladder cancer at age 20. Her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer when Steingraber was in high school. Her aunt died of the same form of cancer that Sandra had, and many of ther close family members also struggled with the disease. But there is no question that cancer does not run in Steingraber’s genes—she was adopted. Clearly, this family was struggling with toxic influences surrounding them in their daily lives. Living Downstream , first published in 1997, both tells the tale of Steingraber’s ongoing battle against cancer and her life’s work linking the effects of our toxic environment on cancer and our health. A documentary film adaptation of the book coincides with last month’s release of an updated edition of the book, tracking recent scientific revelations in the connection between a healthy environment and human health. Find a public screening of Living Downstream , the movie, or purchase a DVD at LivingDownstream.com , and follow Steingraber’s ongoing search for answers and journey of cleaning our environment of carcinogenic influences in Walking Upstream . Katy Perry’s Hipster Boob Workout

I feel like I’ve seen these pictures of hipster dufus Katy Perry leaving the gym before. Many, many times before. Luckily for me my memory has been so ruined by booze and hours and hours of watching Saved By The Bell DVD’s that I barely remember posting them. At least her boobs look awesome, and I like the hundred dollar bill short shorts. I would like to… I was going to say cash that check, but that doesn’t make any sense… I would like to deposit that bill… Still not making much sense, but I think you perverts know where I’m going with this. Enjoy. more pictures of Katy Perry here

The Horse Boy on DVD: All You Need Is Love, with Yak Yogurt

Inspirational, feel-good, pro-active, holistic goodness simply fires out of The Horse Boy ( Zeitgeist Films ) like jets of super-soaker tear-water, as it is a documentary made by an autistic boy’s parents about their strenuous, globetrotting attempt at find a mystical “cure.” Who could be cynical? The patience and fortitude at work in the lives of Brit journalist Rupert Isaacson and psych prof Kristin Neff as they handle their gorgeous but seriously impaired son Rowan is redoubtable, and once Rowan communes with a horse and Isaacson indulges in fond memories of shamanistic cures he witnessed in Africa, one can hardly blame the family for packing the kid up and taking him to the one spot on the globe where horses and shamanism traditionally entwine: Mongolia.
