23 Secrets of The Lost DVD Box Set, Revealed!

Truth be told, we haven’t been adjusting to our post- Lost existence with much grace; a good portion of the past week has been sent sitting in a church, clutching our homemade Hurley doll (stitched together from parts of a curly-haired Cabbage Patch Kid, a plush Shrek, and Teddy Ruxpin guts playing a tape of every “Dude!” ever duded , if you must know), and asking every “Jack” in the congregation if he’s finally ready to step out into the light. Some measure of solace, however, has come in the recent announcement of the Lost: Complete Collection DVD box set arriving in late August. While the official press release disclosed some of the $230 ($280 Blu-ray, for some reason) worth of extras, we weren’t satisfied with the list of bonus featurettes, the island replica, and paraphernalia like a mini-Ankh and senet game. And so, we went digging further to unlock more of its secrets in a quest to justify that heavy price tag, confident that our beloved Damolcuse are saving some surprises for the deep-pocketed faithful. Here are our discoveries of 23 more goodies (we told you we’re having a hard time letting go) that await at the end of your summer of mourning:

The Hurley & Ben Show: Lost Epilogue to Get DVD Release

If watching Lost taught you anything — besides that you never tell John Locke what he can’t do — it’s that Michael Emerson is quite good at playing a role that requires him to coerce, misdirect and flat-out lie. So take this bit of news with a slight grain of salt, just because — well, it’s coming from the man who brought Benjamin Linus to life. Appearing on Attack of the Show on G4, Emerson revealed that there will be a 12-14 minute epilogue on the Lost complete series DVD set that will center on what happened when Hurley took control of the Island. Hint: Mr. Clucks for everyone! After the jump, video of Emerson — doing his best McLovin’ impression — and a crackpot theory as to what the final epilogue might actually be.

‘Lost’ DVD Set Will Feature Hurley/Ben Epilogue

Star Michael Emerson says bonus feature will show 12-14 minutes of the duo’s Island adventures. By Adam Rosenberg The cast of “Lost” Photo: ABC Hurley: “You know, you were a real good number two.” Ben: “And you were a great number one, Hugo.” This brief exchange between Hurley (Jorge Garcia) and Ben (Michael Emerson) in the final stretch of “Lost” series finale “The End” suggested that a lifetime of adventures unfolded for the Island duo before they eventually moved on and reunited with their friends in the pre-afterlife . And fans will actually get to glimpse those adventures when season six of “Lost” arrives on DVD and Blu-ray. “For those people that want to pony up and buy the complete ‘Lost’ series, there is a bonus feature — you could call it an epilogue, a lost scene,” Emerson said during an appearance on G4’s “Attack of the Show.” “It’s a lot, 12 or 14 minutes, that opens a window on that gap of unknown time between Hurley becoming number one and the end of the series.” The revelation was greeted with gasps of surprise from the studio audience. Additional answers had been promised for the “Lost” season six DVD release , but no details had been revealed before Emerson spoke. Asked if he regretted making the reveal, the actor replied with a smile, “I’m rolling over that in my mind.” The follow-up question, of course, is if this footage might hint at some kind of “Lost” spin-off, something that showrunners Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof have sworn time and again won’t happen — at least, not with them at the helm. “It’s self-contained,” Emerson replied. “Although it’s a rich period in the show’s mythology that has never been explored. So who knows what will come of it?” Do you think the adventures of Hurley and Ben would be enough for a whole new show? Sound off in the comments. ‘Lost’ Fans Sound Off On Finale’s Unanswered Questions

‘Where did Walt go? Where’s Aaron?,’ one ‘Lost’ die-hard asks. By Josh Wigler The cast of “Lost” Photo: ABC NEW YORK — While the “Lost” finale Sunday night certainly provided closure on several of the show’s main characters, it didn’t necessarily answer some of the burning questions that kept fans on the edge of their seats for the better part of six seasons. But what questions were fans hoping to have resolved? To find out, MTV News hit the streets of New York and spoke with “Lost” viewers about their lingering questions. Although she was mostly satisfied with the way “Lost” ended, Megan Betts revealed one line of questioning that could have used some clarification: “Where did Walt go? Where’s Aaron? What the heck was with the children on the island? That was the one thing that bothered me that was never really answered.” Many fans weren’t clear on the resolution of the sideways universe, an apparent afterlife of sorts where the souls of the “Lost” cast congregate after death. “They were playing the parallel universe next to the ‘Lost’ universe, so I was trying to figure out if something was going to happen. Are these worlds going to converge?” asked Vincent Perissi. “It left me wanting more. I wanted to find out what was still happening.” Other watchers were left wondering exactly what the island is and what it represents. “I always thought the island was kind of a testing facility,” posited Derek Hagerty. “That’s what I’m going to stick with.” “As sad as I am to say it, what initially everyone who watched the show seven years ago thought a sort of purgatory,” Jenny Hank offered of her own theory. For certain fans, the ultimate significance of the island isn’t particularly important to how the series wrapped up. In fact, some “Lost” enthusiasts felt that the finale resolved all of the show’s most important questions. “There will always be questions and there will always be things they didn’t answer,” argued Mike Cayhurst. “But then again, there are things in everything that never get answered.” But for the fans who are still left wanting answers, don’t lose hope: executive producers and show runners Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse have promised that an upcoming “Lost” DVD bonus feature would resolve many of the show’s dangling threads. Of course, that leads to yet another burning question: can you wait until August for the DVD’s release?
